Best Spot to Grind

I have to disagree with the comment stating that Ruined City of Dranik being the best spot for this faction grind, partially at least. The thing about this faction is, regardless of what you kill that's on this faction it yields the same numerical value, which is one. So it makes no difference whether you kill level 45 a noc in Dranik's Scar, or Overlord Mata Muram, the result is the same - one point of standing.

Because of this fact the "best" spot to grind this faction is the spot that yields the most kills before a respawn happens. This would be Dranik's Scar. Dranik's Scar has a roughly 17min30sec respawn time. In that time you can get around 70-100 kills in a solid group. So you're looking at something close to 340ish standing an hour. This is with an in-era group, not level 115's. You need about 2,000 standing to get to Ally. It's a slog no matter what, but many of the Tier 2 BP's are worth it, even late game.

Only Muramites will give you Dranik's Loyalists standing, Dragrons will never give you this standing in Dranik's Scar, so ignore them.

The best method to get this standing quickly is pull to one spot, and blow everything up with a group, or a boxed toon.

Where to set up? I feel the best spot to set up a group to pull to is near the zoneline to Bloodfields. There is a hallway before the actually hallway to Bloodfields at roughly p1330, p1525 ish. This spot is completely safe of any wandering enemies. Your first pull will be the tunnel area near Bloodfileds zoneline that has Ertalon the Thrall marked on the map. Again, focus only on the Muruamites, rats may not agro, and Murkgliders have a low agro range. Pull to the hallway and do whatever you need to tag to get a faction hit, Heal, DS, AoE, being hit, etc.

Second pull is the large field leading up to the amphitheater-like structure at n795, p650, that has the Ukun Slavehunter/PH guarding the stairs up. There are loads of wandering mobs on the way here, so try to get em' all either on the way there, or the way back to the camp. This will likely require multiple pulls to not get overwhelmed if you're level 70.

Also, this goes for all pulls here, try pull without a DS. Melee classes should not have weapons in your hands to prevent riposte that can lead to being summoned if a named is in the pack. Shield and anything that doesn't have a damage / delay stat and can be held in your primary slot. This is a pull you will want to re-check to make sure you got everything before you move on to the last pull. Pathing is a bit wonky in this zone, so you will lose mobs.

The final pull area is basically heading down the large hill east of the base-camp. There are two towers full of mobs, and then the entire rampart area near the zone-line to Noble's Causeway. I would break this up into multiple pulls, depending on your gear-level. Pathing is horrible up the hill so keep an eye on the mobs. If you still have time, just start pulling the lower field area, though, I'd personally wait for respawns. Again, you have 17.5 minutes to kill as much as possible, This can can be close to 100 mobs if you've got a solid puller/dps. Remember, the mobs are low level, roughly level 44-48, it makes actually killing them quick.

You will not get more faction hits per hour anywhere else. Period.

People say Anguish is good, this is actually horrible advice. In a raid you will miss many faction hits, and again, they're only worth one point of standing per kill, bosses included. Even solo'ing Anguish with a high level toon would be inefficient. I actually counted the kills total in Anguish, I can't remember the exact total, but I was actually shocked to how few it actually was, this was with a full clear. I want to say it was less than 200. Roughly 40 minutes is how long that'd take to get that amount of faction hits in Dranik's Scar. It takes much longer than 40 minutes to do this in Anguish going out of your way to hit every mob in the zone in.

Now, my partial disagreement about Ruined City of Dranik is this; if you're actually exping at that level than an argument could be made that your time is better spent there. However, it was my experience back with this expansion was current was, by the time we had the T2 drops we still didn't have faction since we spent our time exping in Walls of Slaughter (very few faction hits here), or Riftseekers (0 faction hits here). For whatever reason RCoD wasn't a common exp spot. Also, Qvic/Tacvi gear was much better than T1 OoW gear, so we didn't' fool with it.

So in conclusion if you're just after Dranik Loyalist faction, don't bother with any other zone than Dranik's Scar, trust me. I've done this faction grind on more toons than I can remember in my EQ career, and I've tested every possible zone, and Dranik's Scar is heaps faster than anything else.

Hope this helps someone.

So I wanted to add to my initial post with some hard evidence to back up my claims. This weekend is a bonus weekend that yields double faction hits so I figured it would be a good time to get my standing up with a few toons.
First off, you need +1200 for Max Ally. Second, you start at -800, I checked multiple races/classes to make sure there weren't any deviation from this. So this means you need 2000 hits for MAX ally, which you only really need about 1900ish for the turn in, as Ally to Max Ally has a very small range. You only need Ally, not Max Ally to be clear.

The Numbers

These numbers will be what you would get without a bonus weekend /Double Faction Potion.

Bloodfield Tunnels - 14
Amphitheater and field leading up to it - 37
Two Towers east of camp 17
Ramparts near Nobles Causeway zoneline - 34
Total = 102
Spawn Cycle = 17m30sec (roughly, varies due to server ticks.)

So, in four spawns, which is a bit over one hour (1h 10m) you will get 408 faction hits. This translates just under 5 hours of farming to max out Ally for Dranik Loyalists standing. Cut this number in half if you have a bonus weekend / Double Faction Potion. I don't know if those two actually stack, and I'm not spending 300 Daybreak Cash to find out.

I wanted to go over the camp one more time and update it since my previous post was from memory of a few years back. You can put a campfire in the tunnel I suggested in my earlier post (p1330, p1525). This will make the return trip easier.

Bloodfields / Tunnels - Pretty much everything was as I remembered. The tunnels only have Ukuns to pull. The single Dragorn is a PH for Ertalon the Thrall, the Rats and Bats are non-kos, or were to me. You will probably get one Murglider agro per pull, as their agro range is pretty small. The small courtyard between your camp and the tunnes/zoneline has six mobs, four nocs, and two kyvs if I remember correctly.

Amphitheater and Field - Pathing is really bad out here when you pull large numbers of mobs. You will lose some, so re-check.

Two Towers - I highly recommend you move your group to the front of the southern tower here. Pathing up and down the big hill is horrendous, and you can lose some, or even all of your pull going back to the main camp.

Nobles Causeway Ramparts
- There is one kyv on the outside near the wall to the which is a pher for a named, grab him and run inside the ramparts. Just inside, to the west, there is a room with a single noc surrounded by Dragorns. He's a PH as well, should be a single pull, if not, ignore it. Then run up the ramp to the east and make your way around the ramparts picking up all the kyv's and ukuns. Once you get to the end there a single Dragorn is (also a PH for named) along with four or so Kyv's, simply jump off the western wall. Grab the few mobs on the ground and return to Two Towers camp. As long as you're set up in front of the tower, most, if not all will eventually show up. Kill them all.

If you have a campfire, click up to the original camp, and repeat this entire process.

I click up to avoid another trek up that hill, even pcs on auto-follow get lost.

What if you can't clear everything I've covered due to being under geared on a TLP server or whatever, and have to pick one camp? I would actually choose the Towers / Ramparts over the top area. Basically less pathing issues here. You could clear those two areas, and then focus on the lower fields wandering Muramites.

So that's my pseudo-guide on farming Dranik Loyalist faction. If you have a better suggestion, and data to back it up, I'd love to hear it.

I hope this helps someone trying to efficiently farm this faction grind.

Ally is at 1900/2000. The best place BY FAR is in ruined city of dranik. All of the underground complexes especially but the whole zone is fantastic. One room in the top right corner, the last far room has like 25 mobs, but I circle the zone and get repop right after I get back.

It took me 1979 kills to go from KOS to ally. I think Anguish is the best place since there are lots of mobs and most seem to give the faction hit. Nobles Causeway is also good once you learn the circuit for faction mobs.

toopk 1000 kills to go from dubious to warly so i think ur kill /faction ratio is a little off....and this is from mobs in dranik scar also i found out pulling all the mobs up top by nc which is bout 55 mobs that give loyalist faction and then running over to where blood field zone is and pull that long area of mobs is bout another 35-40 mobs and just keep doing that youll get close to 100mobs every 22 min or what ever the exact respawn timer is

I saw on a mechant kyv hearts when i was doing this faction, i knew about the turn in quest for the kyv hearts, so i bought all his kyv hearts for 50 plat a piece. I bought about 10-20 stacks of 20. I turned them all in and... garbage! He still coned dubiously. I thought that questing faction would be better than kill mobs for faction, but its obviously not.

Going off of a previous post about the numbers of mobs killed between factions, and I quote:

Indifferent to Amiable 70 kills (+/- 25)
Amiable to Kindly 350 kills (+/- 25)
Kindly to Warmly 200 kills (+/- 25)

This information was very helpful. I decided to keep track after I reached Kindly faction. After every train I killed I counted the number of corpses I looted and wrote it down in a spread sheet to keep track of. This is what I came up with:

Kindly to Warmly between 237 and 271 kills
Warmly to Ally between 304 and 348 kills

From Kindly to Warmly I spent most of my time in Noble's Causeway, with brief visits to Dranik's Scar and Wall of Slaughter.
From Warmly to Ally I spent all of my time in Noble's Causeway. I could pull trains of up to 30 mobs that give faction and mow them down then move on to the next spot. Ferans, Bazus, and Murkgliders did not give faction, but Dragorns, Kyv, Noc, Ikaav, and Akuan did, and there were plenty of those around. Levitate makes the terrain manageable and after killing close to 600 mobs there I found it pretty easy to navigate. I picked up a ton of gems (a little over 13k worth going from apprehensive to ally)and Flawed, Elaborate, and Intricate Defiant pieces for alts.

I hope this information helps. Good luck!

Great information. I've been clearing Anguish every few hours. It's about a hundred mobs each run after the first one when I cleared all the way to Mata Muran. Got my robe piece the first run, the three pieces of fruit, the second clear. I've killed 1400 mobs per my slayer achievement window and am finally at warmly. I figure three to four more anguish runs and I'll be there.

This is what happens when you put expansions out so fast without planing for what gonna happen when oow is 4 expansions back.you make a toon and hang out where everyone else is,and its not in oow.

when i first coned the armor guy in DS i was at scowl, lol.this account is 1.8 years old and we started raiding anguish like 6 months ago.so it took me 1.2 years of play to casualy get to kindly, what i coned just before i steped into anguish.on a good note.i think it only took like 7-10 raids in AoA to get to max ally.I think the bosses give ya huge faction hits.

I have seen it parsed out in places and it is around 5k mobs from scowl to max ally,if memory serves.

Ok I'm a 71 cleric and I've gone through Anguish a more than 6 times and we killed at least 2 to 3 mobs each time and I'm still dubiously to Trelak. Do I not get the faction hits if I don't cause damage even if I'm healing the tank?
Faction for clerics
# Jul 25 2007 at 1:03 PM Rating: Decent
You get faction hits if you are on the mob's agro list when it dies. If you have healing agro reduction AAs, the there is a good chance a lot of your healing is completely ignored - they reduce the chance of mobs _noticing_ your healing and if they don't notice, they don't agro.
I've done Anguish about 7 or 8 times, and I make a point of trying to get on as many monsters' agro as possible - spot heals, swinging a hammer until I hit etc. - I'm amiable atm. This is an annoying faction :-(

Do you get more Faction Hits in the higher level zones like WoS or MPG v/s DS?

I've heard it does vary by zone, can anyone confirm ?

Sure you slaughter faster in DS but if the mobs in MPG are giving you 6-10 hits per kill as well as actual XP then it might be worth it.

I don't know about that. When oow first came out I lived in NC for weeks farming runes for 4 bots. And my faction didn't move. Was the drunt/aggressive camp. I think there is 4 behind the quest npc and another 4 ahead of it. The drunt ph was another. I killed the murks to but dragorn were my primary targets. Pretty sure 1 faction hit is 1 faction hit. Unless it's an item hand in. I know it's unrelated but the Thurg quest hand ins did 50 faction. Who knows, maybe the quests here are the same.

I just hit ally. It took me roughly 415 kills to move from warmly to ally. Sorry, not sure on the numbers for other stages. I did one armor turn in (monk head piece). Spent the past week doing nearly nothing but faction work and managed to move from dubious to ally by killing thousands of low lvl mobs in Draniks. Good luck to everyone! Also, between kindly and warmly I turned in about 10 Kyv Hearts and 25 Seeping Murkglider Fluid's and it didn't really do me much good. Don't waste your money or time getting the quest items.

How many kills
# Oct 16 2005 at 10:49 AM Rating: Excellent
I have been keeping track of how many mobs are needed to kill to get from one faction level to another. Unfortunately, I only started after Dubious.

Indifferent to Amiable 70 kills (+/- 25)
Amiable to Kindly 350 kills (+/- 25)
Kindly to Warmly 200 kills (+/- 25)

I added the +/- cause I would check every 25-50 mobs depending on time.

All faction was done in Dranik Scar at lvl 65 at the BF zone. Almost all mobs were LB cons.

As a Warrior, making sure you tag all mobs so you get the faction hit can be a challenge. I went to Lavastorm and purchased the Lvl 61 DoN Disc "Whirlwind Blade". I used that a great deal while factioning because it does a single atk dmg on all mobs in a small radius of you. Make sure they are nicely bunched up when you use it. It does generate good aggro so hopefully you have a decent healer.

Factioning this way makes it go by very fast. In total, I spent maybe 5-6 days (3-5 hrs per session).

Faction Raid
# Apr 12 2005 at 6:52 AM Rating: Default
Something I don't understand is why people go to NC for faction raids when DS has just as many if not more of the faction mobs that are much easier to kill.

Faction Raids are the best way to raise loyalist faction. Just grab at least 1 high level enchanter. Prefer 2 tho. A couple wizzys, dru's, clerics, bards, and anyone esle wanting to come...Grab about 40 nocs, ukuns, kyvs and AE stun/nuke/dot em down. It's REALLY easy and infact quite fulfilling lol.

But back to my question...why do NC where there is more of a risk and less mobs. You get credit for the faction hit regardless of the mobs level. I went from dubious to amibly in about 3 hours of Faction raiding in DS at the bloodfields zoneline. Best to setup there. Less traffic and risk of killing people.

Maybe because of the exp? Raid leadership points are very very slow to get, so i can see any raid leader wanting to raid someplace with mobs with exp to make the trawl that little faster.

Having said which, they'd still be better doing the greenies and then spending the extra time they gain elsewhere.

I run three Chr's I decided to use the Shaman to do all the Faction Quest turn ins, so Every Feran Skull, Stolen Clan dodad etc, he has turned in, So in theory he should be ahead by a fair chunk. sure enough he turned Kindly before everyone else... by about 20 faction hits *sigh*

He had done at Amiable

8 Feran skulls
4 Stolen Clan Crests

So I recon these Quests give you 2 or 3 Faction hits per turn in, which given the raratly of the items is piontless.

The original list is:
-2000 to -726, scowls
-725 to -501, threatening
-500 to -101, dubious
-100 to -1, apprehensive
0 to 99, indifferent
100 to 499, amiable
500 to 699, kindly
700 to 1099, warmly
1100 to 2000, ally

These were the values as discovered using SEQ, before it was nerfed a couple years back. These values were the physical numbers as stored on the server and did not reflect a "per-kill" value. The "base" faction is often 1, but does not necissarly mean all are. It is possible these values have changed in the years, but these values were definalty confirmed at one point.

I counted my kills going from Amiable to Kindly: 381 normal kills, 8 named kills. So roughly 400 to go from Amiable to Warmly which would seem to agree with the list Miakiss posted.
