missing map files
# Dec 24 2010 at 12:21 AM Rating: Decent
I downloaded the maps from mapfiend and unzipped them only to find, i didn't have a file called Maps in my EQ folder. It's strange because, when i bring up maps in the old zones, i have them. I quit playing in 05 and just came back 2 months ago. I used an old expansion to start with. Think PoP it was. Could that be the problem?

Anyone have an answer for me? Would be appreciated.

This zone is not laid out like the rest of your site. DH is not a "single" zone, it's 3 different zones with 3 different maps (missing). All 3 quests start in Dranik's Scar (missing from "Quests found in Dranik's Scar).
Hot Zone I dont think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok iam going to put my two cents in on this lame hot zone the exp isnt that great i have found other zones with much easier kills that give better exp. as for the mobs in this zone my 52sk was soloing here 3 and 4 at a time self buffs only.expt for haste. sure the named mobs are hard but other than that watch the adds and this zone is soloable by anyone with half a brain.

Faction killing is not unrewarding plat-wise. I tend to make 500pp+ every session (1-2 hours). Plus aug drops are nice too. Usually solo or duo (level 63+)

I play on the test server and go here everyday i like the drops and at 52 was able to solo most the mobs i suggest getting a freind and going up the hill and killing everything that moves everything that drops sells good to venders and shards sell good in bazaar there r also a bunch of augs that drop I am sure any kite class could have a blast here 50-55
curious

Why are mobs with the same name more difficult in different parts of the zone as apposed to others. Is the loot different for the weaker mobs?

I use maps and the map pack from http://eq.mapfiend.net
IMHO they are the best and most accurate and you can download all maps at one time.

I hope this helps, what I did was make a hot key saying "go home" and as I am running I target a preist and hit the button. As long as you stay in the POD area you will be transfered. You do not have to stay stationary. Also with a full group lvls 50-55 we tore thu mobs like papper.

Any keywords in a sentence (as long as they are in the same order as in the [brackets]) will trigger it. Try saying "I wish I had a pony to go to my mom's house" to the PoD in PoK or "I'm going to go do some grocery shopping maybe and then return home." to the one in DS. There's some more inappropriate things you can say regarding certain keywords for other NPCs which I won't mention. ;)

It's like mad libs only better.

Have read posts seems like a 62 Beast with Good gear could hunt here if careful, but eveerytime I go here and try and get a group or hunt I am only sub 65 in zone. Freinds have told me to stay away but just wanted to see if any others Sub 65 have had any success hunting here?

Been hunting here somewhat regularly of late. BST's I hunt with are lower than I (63) but we seem to have no problems with any of the mobs at all. Most con green with a few light blue, and only very few (i.e. Murkglider Hiveguard and named) con dark blue or better. Hunting here is easy so long as crowd-control can be applied. Trains are occasional as well, just so you know.

Also, as the Priests of Discord are the escape to PoK, hailing and taking the time to say "go home" is something questionable if the train is arriving. But generally, the mobs don't hit that hard and any players gearing up for NC or WoS and entering OoW will normally help to take down the train out of kindness.

That has been my experience anyway. Fun zone, not much exp for me at 63 but some, great loot, gems and fair drops of equipment. Definately, a great primer for OoW, now trying to get groups together for Bloodfields, more challenging for low to mid 60's in my estimation.

Most of the mobs in dranik's scar con green at 66, so I'd imagine you could easily kill them, but not for experience.

On the other hand, the Dranik's Hollows instanced zones seem doable by a mixed group of 60+, as long as the tank is pretty solid, and you have a slower.

I think I made the mistake of killing a few Dragorns. Since they were KOS to me when I zoned in, I figured they were evil. But, after the first few kills I noticed that I was getting bad Children of the Dranik faction, and good Overlord Mata Muran (or however you spell it). I belive that the Overlord is the "bad guy" from the lore of GoD, and therefore a bad faction. I think that in order to do the quests and adventures in the new zones you are going to need to gain good Dranik faction. Can anyone confirm this?

Killing the dragorn in DS wont hurt your faction, unleas u kill the redih named ones.

Children faction is good dragorn faction.

RS faction is ..... i dunno, guessing good secne its aginst OMM fac.

Loyalist is GOOD faction. THis faction lest u get OOW armor, which is mostly EP lvl gear wit soem nice focuses.

I am not totaly sure how the faction is working or going to work. I was like you once I zoned int I started killing everything I saw. Dragorns etc.. saw the faction hits but didn't think about them.

I've since started working faction. I've seen 4

Mata Muram (sp) - getting worse
Riftseekers - Ally for some reason
Children of Dranik - Ally
Dranik Loyalist - getting better

I have no idea what gets Riftseekers or Loyalist. Seems to raise along with Children, but since I became Ally to Children, I still cannot talk to the Dragorn Quest mobs and I'm still KoS in Scar to the roaming Dragorn. You would also think, Loyalist faction would be up there with Children unless I didn't start getting Loyalist faction until I became Ally with the Children. This is a puzzle and I want to see what the Dragorn's have to say instead of "hissing" at me everytime I hail one..

Anyone got some info here?

Just to quibble; I think what you saw was "....could not get any better" as far as the faction with CoD. This is not the same as "ally", it just means that your faction is maxed. You can be maxed in a faction and still be KoS, depending on modifiers.

Now I'm wondering how many other mobs I'm going to have to kill to repair and build my dragorn faction up.

Read the manual, it's in your EQ directory.

Likely you do not want to continue dropping your children of drelnik faction-- I made the same mistake then looked up the lore 8)
Zone Out
# Sep 15 2004 at 8:13 AM Rating: Default
It should also be important to note that zoning out takes longer than usual. Not only do you have to speak with a Priest of Discord, but their Translocate takes a while to be put into effect. I found this out the hard after being trained and trying zone out before I died, which unfortunately happened (only had 10% health from previous battle), because it took too long to zone.
Your First OoW Zone...
# Sep 15 2004 at 5:05 AM Rating: Excellent
This is the first zone in which you will find yourself in the new Omens of War expansion.

You gain access to this zone by talking to any of the Priests of Discord found in Norath. You will find yourself zoning into a small clearing in a much larger outdoor zone surrounded by 4 Priests of Discord. If you wish to return to Norath you simply speak to these priests and they will send you back to the zone you left for OoW from.

A little note of caution is in order though. You will sometimes find a wandering mob or two near the zone in area (Lt. Blue to a 63), though they are out of agro range from where you zoned in. Also of note is that almost none of the mobs in the zone see through invisibility here (Named mobs do see through invisibility), so explore as much as you desire.

Having only recently began to explore here, there is a zone out point along the right side cliff with a steep drop near the end leading to Noble's Causeway. Beware you will take lots of damage running down the hillside without caution or levitate.

Enjoy your time here and good hunting.
