Elder Patriarch Ixthal may be found on the second floor of the Shaman guild. At the end of the previous quest, he told you to come back when you had decided to aid the cause.

You say, 'I have decided to aid our cause.'

Elder Patriarch Ixthal says 'I thought you may, ______. We have an issue at hand that you may be able to help with. It seems as though there are rumors of the sarnak factions gathering forces. We must find out all the information we can regarding this situation. Travel to the kly's and seek what they know. Place all of their letters in this tome, which shall combine their mystical energies. Bring back the completed message to me with your claw of the apprentice and you will be rewarded.'

Elder Patriarch Ixthal wants you to collect 8x "Battle Plans" from the Crypt of Dalnir. These all share the same item name, but there are eight versions of it (all LORE). They are confirmed to drop from "a kly evoker" and reported (not confirmed) to drop from cohorts and believers.

Once you have all eight, combine them in the container he gave you and give the result to Elder Patriarch Ixthal, along with your Claw of the Apprentice:

Elder Patriarch Ixthal says 'I see you have returned with the information asked. Hmm . . . this doesn't bode well. I will need some time to think about the situation now. Take this and wear it proudly. You are a Young Patriarch now.'

I'm not totally sure why this quest era is marked as Gates of Discord. I did this quest on Aradune during Luclin, and also just now on Yelinak during the PoP era. There is nothing in this whole quest line (up to this point anyway) that would require you to wait for Gates of Discord to drop to complete it. All the previous claws, plus Dalnir, is all doable on the Kunark continent, in the Luclin era (because Beastlords duh).

I seem to recall that I hit a snag on Aradune with the quest for the next claw (in Luclin era), that some of the mobs didn't spawn, and that's probably just some weirdness with TLPs that no one has bothered to fix on TLPs, but *in theory* it should also be doable in Luclin. It's maybe possible that *originally* this quest was broken and wasn't fixed until Gates, but I think it's very misleading to say that it's part of the Gates era.

I'm on Agnarr, but it shouldn't matter. Only Kly Evokers drop the correct pages. There are other things using the same icons but with a different name.

I just went to the bottom floor, cleared out the middle dining room (one room over from the Kly Overseer) and set up camp in a side room, pulling to there. Had a druid with me for tracking which was only a minor help, as once you start killing stuff, the evokers will eventually spawn in the area you're clearing. But you'll be there a while. Today I was there at least 6 hours and was lucky to get 7/8 pages, with a few duplicates. Tomorrow hopefully I'll finish the camp.

In terms of suckage I would rate this probably worse than the Froglok Raiders for Greenmist, but better than lucid shards.

These do also drop from kly cohorts, invokers, and believers. Can't confirm others yet, still working on it :P

The pages only dropped from the Kly Evoker's for me. I spent about 2 hours on the third floor in Dalnir gathering these pages. Research Notes - part 1 dropped from cohorts and the others but I personally never looted a battle plan page on any other mob except for the evokers.
Do it together
# Dec 24 2005 at 9:10 PM Rating: Decent
Had at least 16 repeat pages drop before I finally got my last piece. Wish another beastlord had been along with me (was with a paladin friend). I like this quest thus far, it is certainly not too easy.

As far as the comments about the quality of the reward at the end go in this game you can often buy better. However, that is not always the point.
Rare pages
# Feb 22 2005 at 9:45 AM Rating: Default
Well, these pages are actually common drops. But the problem is they only drop from evokers, no other kly. Evokers are kinda rare spawns being that followers and believers are everywhere but they still spawn at a nice rate. I managed to just forget about this 4th part until I was lvl 51 and with decent gear, stuff from OOW that is recommended 60 helps with resists a ton, I managed to get all the pieces in like 4 hours. It's more useful to just go past the grave wall even though you can't get back to the spawns before it, there are way more spawns after it...

Too bad they couldn't have made it more like the necro quest. If this beast quest is to be done at the correct level you must have a group, but bsts are a very good solo class at least on lower level mobs. It's a group quest in an abandoned expansion for a solo class. Quite frankly the quest they finished up on with necros was worth waiting forever because it gives them a free 1100 HoT with a 10 second casting time but beastlords didn't get a great one here. Although they CAN do their real epic in a day easily and both weapons equipped together give them a total of 175hps which is way beyond what any other epic 1 quest gives. I'm just looking at this quest as busy work with a 12/20 weapon at the end waiting for me. No rush on it but as always it's fun to ***** with quests and spawns and such...

Claw of the Elder Patriarch

I just finished the quest last night and got my "Elder Claw". Found a group in CoM and it took about an hour to collect all 4 "Broken seals". Like the "Battle plans" part of this quest, you'll find a lot of "Broken Seals" but you'll get a lot of "repeats" until you get 4 different seals. Identify doesn't work. The Seals drop off "Mighty Golem", "Dread Wraith", "Ravenous Warbone Skeleton", "Plaguebone Warlord", and "Gyrating Green Slime". Everything there conned lt or drk blue to my 55 Bst.
Once you get the Seals, combine them in the box that Vuzx gave you along with the heady kiola and Lativ's remains and you get "Amulet of Choatl". Give the amulet to the Lativ in EJ (he's in the first ruins to the left as you zone in from FoB) but before you do, BUFF yourself to the max. As soon as you give him the amulet, he WILL attack. My 55 Bst soloed him (he was drk blue) but he put up a good fight. Hits hard but doesn't cast so it's straight melee. Similar to the Lativ in TT. When you kill him, you get "Sacred Figurine" (or something like that). Give the figurine to Ixthal, along with your "Claw of the Mature Patriarch", and voila', he gives you "Claw of the Elder Patriarch".
You can probably BUY better at the bazaar, but it's pretty kewl to complete the quest.. and FINALLY get your Elder Claw.
There ya have it. Good Luck.
And stay healthy.

I just have to say that I am a 42 Iksar BST with ok gear that i have earned or bought myself, stuck on this quest and anyone that is doing this, DO NOT GO INTO DALNIR BY YOURSELF IF YOU ARE UNDER LVL 35ish. I went at 41 and had no problem until another person came along and told me they would help and we dropped down to the 2nd level. This was ugly, there was no way i could have solo'ed that 2nd level and I ended up dying on the 3rd lvl near the end. Also after clearing the whole place, only 3 Plans dropped and I only got one due to me dying.

Guess I'll need to make some friends if I want to get this before I'm strong enough to get my Epic.... Good luck to anyone attempting this quest
Final Claw Not Worth It
# Aug 26 2004 at 4:17 PM Rating: Good
The reality is, the final reward on these quests are not worth the effort. They are on par with Whistling Fist, which was awsome back when it came out. If these BST quests were out when they put in Whistling Fist (remember it came much later than Kunark and the first shackles), it wouldn't have been a half bad weapon even.

Of course monks still do the whistling fist quest because the Shackle of Tynnonium more than the fist--ask one doing it :) Too bad BST couldn't get something in ANY other slot besides weapon. A good bracer would have been nice.

Also, the proc is crap on the final claw. Same category as BST lvl 49 spell Frenzy and gives the exact same stats. They won't stack (like fleeting fury won't either). It also doesn't proc until level 50. Frenzy is very little mana to cast (35 mana) and a very low cast time. The proc is pretty useless.

Lets face it, you can easily buy better (with higher stat bonuses even) in the Bazaar for much less effort these days.

A tunare woodelf ranger can become warmly faction to all cabilis factions and do the quest. There is no such thing as a limited faction for any deity or race...

Walk Thru for 5th
# Jul 17 2004 at 11:04 PM Rating: Decent
Found a post while on the "Claw of the Cub" page by Sirhc Turren. It was right on the money.
You don't need to talk to Zreezas to get your 5th. Just kill the 3 "A Loyal Follower"'s, collect the coin they drop, and turn it in to Ixthal, along with your 4th Claw, and bang, you're done.
If Sirhc doesn't mind, I'm going to repost his info on where you can find the 3.

Zone: Frontier Mountains
Race: Sarnak
HP: Approx 2200
Location: +1024, +437
This "a loyal follower" is NW of the giant fort in FM, very close to the center of the zone. You'll find him on a large boulder. He is the easiest of the three.

Zone: The Burning Woods
Race: Sarnak
HP: Approx 3500
Location: -831, -4084
You'll find this guy about 1/3 the way up the East zone wall, almost right on the wall. He has a bit more hp than the previous follower, and you should be careful of other mobs that wander nearby this location.

Zone: The Dreadlands
Race: Iksar
HP: Approx 5000
Location: +21, +6776
This follower is over in the Secret Valley, where the wizard and druid rings are at, in the SE most corner there. He has a lot more hp than the other two, and altho I didn't get a max hit on the sarnaks this guy hits for a max of 97 double, plus a bash.

All 3 conned Drk Blue to my 51 Beasty. Killed all 3 the same way. Sent pet to attack, Slow, Debuff, DOT, Nuke, and by then they were about 50 %, easy kill. The one in Burning Woods is kinda hard to find because of all the foliage. Just look a bit. He's there.
Did this one in about an hour start to finish.
Hope that helps. Good Luck.

seals
# Jul 05 2004 at 3:07 PM Rating: Default
Broken seals are dropped by various named mobs in City of Mist (such as Dread Wraith, Ravenous warbone skeleton, plaguebone warlord). Each drops a seal but it is random to which one they drop.

Drops too off a Gyrating Green Slime... in the central house.

Ok, combined the 6 items ( Lativ's remains from TT, Heady Kiola, 4 differents Brokens seals from CoM nameds )in the Vuzx's container.

And gave the result to the unattakable Lativ in EJ ruins near FoB zone.

He got very disappointed and then he attaked me, we killed Him, it dropped the figurine.

Gave figurine + previous claws ( were Claws of the Mature Patriarch ? hum cant remember exactly ) to Elder Ixthal, and got the <<< FINAL CLAWS >>> !

Seal's parts
# Jun 13 2004 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone know where to find the 4 Seal's parts you have to combine with Lativ's remains + heady kiola for weaken the unattackable Lativ in EJ pls ?

Before this, kill the TT's Lativ, show remains to Zreezas, then to Vuz who will give you a combine box.

Am I right ?

Salutations.

I don't know anything about the next quest, but I would strongly advise you to switch to decaf -- reading your post is like listening to a crackhead.

People have completed the sixth claw, so I would search on other discussion boards.
Drops off...

I've only seen the battle plans drop off of the Kly Evokers so far and I have 6 of the 8 plans. But you might as well kill all of the Kly sarnacs anyway because the evokers can pop in any of the spots except for the Overseer/The Kly pop spot. It seems best to camp the area near the Overseer because all of those pops are sarnacs instead of possibly being something else (i.e.- goo or some coerced race). I hope this helps.

Looks nice, now I have to figure out how to get my Barbarian into Cabilis (kill outcast Iksar, collect bone chips, etc.). Anyone know what on which faction are the ikky beasties?

Edit: Beastlords are on Scaled Mystics faction, and the questgiver is not near Lord Zimor, so there is no need to worry about Brood of Kotiz (necro) faction (don't know what his aggro range is though). Also, it's nice not to have to go up the ladder as with SK quests (always was the hardest part of the Greenmist).

They're on Shaman faction, I do believe.

You have to max out Shadowknight and Shamans to do the quest (considering they're both in the same building)

Heh, heh. Nearly the same stats as Whistling Fists(minus the dex and agi... and add the wis), yet no haste clicky on it.

I wonder, was the quests for all all that hard to begin with?

Dude, man... Why can't the Vah Shir weapon evolve into something like this, man?
RE: Final claw stats
# Jan 06 2005 at 1:53 PM Rating: Default
Shar Vhal offers only crappy quests designed to bridge some tradeskill gaps. The whole reason cabilis offers these nice quests for each of the iksar classes is because the kunark epics required usage of a lot of old world stuff and iksar are suppose to be hated by all other races. These were basically the quests to give the iksar something because that couldn't get the faction to do regular epics. But about halfway through, as people could see who were doing necromancer and warrior quests, they just said ***** it and they allowed iksars to do regular epics and they also allowed all other races to use the cabilis quests if they could get the faction. And while that Vah Shir cloak is ok, it sucks by a large margin when compared to the end weapon here which is a 12/20 h2h weapon that procs a mini avatar spell on the user...
