When attempting to hand Linara the Tarnished Bronze Key while KOS to her using the cell wall to block line of sight, I am handed the key back with no dialogue.
IF you happen to be a Dark Elf, you can drop the key on her to open the trade window, and then Hide until she is Indifferent towards you. I was then given the letter.

Confirmed on Agnarr server 7/27/17 you can do the key turn-in to Linara Parlone while KOS. I used the wall of her jail cell to block line of sight, handed her the key and got the letter from her.

You can actually do all of the turn-ins while scowls via creative use of LOS. Got cloak tonight on my dark elf wizard, KOS to all turn-in mobs

If you are a Dark Elf (and even worse, a Necromancer) and want to do this quest, you'll need to do a few extra steps. After retrieving the key from a priest of najena, you need to raise faction for Keepers of the Art before you can finish the rest of the quest. You can progress part way further if you have an enchanter charm Linara Parlone in Najena before you turn in the key, however afterwards you'll need to raise your faction. If you don't have an enchanter, then you'll need to faction grind before turning into Linara.
I went to the commonlands and bought about 3000 batwings (30pp total) off of the merchants there; there's an Erudite merchant in the middle of the zone that had them. Afterwards, you'll need to head to Felwithe and you'll need to bring someone who can keep invisible up on you. You'll need to seek out Niola Impholder in the mage guild. Even though she cons as scowling, she won't attack you. If you try to give her batwings, she'll reject you. However, if you open up the trade window and then have your partner cast invisible on you, you can then turn them in and receive faction. Also you can turn in up to 400 at one time, so you can get it done pretty quickly. Please note that this will only give you faction with the turn in mobs, and not the city guards so you'll still need to sneak around to finish.
Once you are finished with the quest, you'll most likely have to re-raise your faction with The Dead. I found that killing the arcane incantators / shapeshifters in nektulos forest (near the wizard spire) was the best, giving +5 faction a pop and having a fast respawn - it only took about 2 hours before I was back to kindly with The Dead.

Killed random spawns for about an hour, finally it popped. Conned red to me at lvl 26, two blast(Bolt of Flame) with Earth Elemental(lvl25)tanking and we had it.

Priest popped for me today on the 6th pop over about 5 1/2 hours. He was dark blue to me at level 41. He's a caster and definately heals himself and also dispells. Ran to Najena with a DE illusion but all the mobs were green anyhow. Landed in the wrong jail cell but someone happened to have a key to let me out. (Thanks!!) Turned in the note to the father in Felwithe and the cloak he gives to the mother in Erudin. I now own a Mystic Cloak. Yay!

On Monday, August 09, 2004, I sat down to camp the Priest of Najena at 3:00 P.M. E.S.T. (all times are in Eastern Standard Time). Knowing my luck, he wasn't up when I walked in. I killed him around eleven times until I decided one more time and I would leave. Around rolled 1:23 and a ghoul popped. But it wasn't just any ghoul, it was A Priest of Najena. I killed him and looted the key! It took me approximately ten hours. I read one hundred and fifty pages of a book, but I did it. Don't give up, he could be the next spawn! So this quest is still absolutely functional as of August 10th, 2004.

Is the Priest still spawing? Going on 3 days now of camping him and have sat through 9 consecutive spawns, 53.5 mins each, with no Priest......any new info will be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance :)

As a wizard in my mid 30s with very little INT gear I decided this would be a good quest to do. First attempt was with a bunch of guildies who came along just to kick some undead tail in Unrest and we killed lots of stuff waiting for the Priest to spawn and had no luck and eventually gave up. Then came the weekend and I had planty of camp time so I took off to Unrest solo. Came in killed first PH and set up camp to wait out the 1 hour spawn time. The closet mob below the Preist camp pops around every 20 minutes or so and he'd agro me through the floor and I'd just cast root, run down the stairs back into the corner across from the closet and nuke him till he was dead, no problem. Occasionally a skellie would wander down the hallway and I'd do the same thing, but had no real threat while waiting for this guy to pop. Finally on the 5th hour of the camp there he was, by this time a Druid friend of mine came into unrest just before he popped to see what I was up to and we took him down no problem, most likely could have taken him solo but it was nice to not have to try. Got my key and was off to Nejena, had a little trouble finding the Linara and I fell in the floor once and ended up in the wrong cell, had to gate out and try again, but it wasn't a problem at all. Finished the quest in just under 6 hours.
Here is the kicker though, was in Unrest last night showing a wizard friend of mine where the rod for the Staff of the Wheel was and I just thought to myself, I wonder if the priest is up, ran in there and there he was, go figure. Had my friend come in and we took him down no problem (still con'd light blue to me at 45 though). So, what took me around 6 hours to complete was done in about 40 minutes or so for my friend and she is happy with her new cloak.

I went to Najena to help a magician friend do that broom quest. Lenara conned "ready to attack." She aggroed on me and I had to kill her. Can I do this quest if a chanter charms her? Also, can I go to Erudin as an Iksar or must I have someone cast an illusion on me?
anyone can do the quest, regardless of faction or class once the enchanter charms her. i did it back in the day for a necro friend of mine who had less than stellar morals. had to charm the whole series of npc's, even her mom, in erudin. i was about 44 at the time, had a bit of a tough time charming mom so that the necro could do the turn in. after about 10 minutes of mez, and mem blur, and stuns, we finally got her to stand still long enough for him to give her what he needed to (can't remember what he needed to give her, it's been a loooong time) and he enjoyed his new cloak.
for those that enjoyed the story, the necro only wanted me to charm the npc's to see if i could do it. he banked the cloak a week later, after i got mine.
just reread the message i replied to, didn't see the other question about being an iksar, and going into erudin.. just a note, if you head to the warrens, and slaughter kobolds by the thousands (i'm exaggerating, but still, it seems like it) you get both paineel and erudin faction.. remembering that dubious gets you in the door, and you don't care about mom's faction... the chanter is going to take care of that. good luck, (you may just need it, mom resisted alot)

so basically a dark elf cant do this quest easily, having to enter Felwithe is not good, raising Felwithe faction without damaging Neriak factions is not always easy. Whats the best way for me to do this? anyone?

Just to verify the spawn cycle of the Priest of Najena, it DOES spawn in the SW third floor tower of the Unrest manor. Placeholder is a ghoul in the same spot that respawns every 60 minutes. Keep the room below clear because the crazed ghoul or carrion ghoul will agg you on the third floor. My 42 gnome gnecro with pet handled the priest easily. I had camped the spot every night for about a week and finally got the priest on Sunday afternoon. It's probably not that rare, but you need to stick around for several PH spawns that are always an hour apart.
My faction with the high elves was dubious, but I didn't have any problem doing the turn-ins. Najena was easy--just dropped into the jail cell invised, un-invised to do turn-in (same cell), and gated out.The halfling in the same cell didn't agg.

One of the cells has a hole in the side that you can escape from. The other is locked tight. Moosh supposedly drops the cell key(never dropped for me). Even without the key you can actually walk straight through the cell door. May take a while, but in run lock just keep pushing against the door. Ducking seemed to help me. Not sure if this will work with large races.

I did it for my agnostic Erudite wizzie. Here is my experience:
1) Camped priestess at Unrest for about 5 hours. She popped after about 6 PHs being eliminated. I didn't soley camp her. I went around helping people and trying to get the dark boned skull for the Acumen Mask also.
2) The mother is Trilani Parlone at the chanter guild at Erudine. I just posted her info in the Beastiary.
3) My wizzie is apprehensive to most high elves (including the family) and therefore he didn't have a problem completing this quest.

hello all, well first off , i read ur posts , and i got really lucky , lol . i got the key in less then 20 min . i zoned in and was walking to room when boom the priest, killed him with no adds, got no drop key . but im a def so my fraction sux with erudite, so heres my question i was wondering how can i give key to lanara, without being attacked... ? by the way i was in lvl 30 group of 3 , i wouldnt try it solo , if ur around 30 , better to be around 35 . thanx
This might seem silly, but how do you recharge the Steelskin charges. I have never used an item with charges before?
With a very few exceptions, items with charges are NOT rechargable. To the best of my knowledge this item is not rechargable.

Hail Cadelawin Browan in Plane of Knowledge and she says something about a mystic cloakand how the brooch is only thing that looses magic, so you need to make a new brooch, sounds easy enough eh?
Brooch= Crysoberyl Talisman + Enchanted Platinum Bar + scroll of steelskin + vial of distilled mana, combine in a Planar jeweler's kit, not sure of trivial, most likely above 200, not verified by EQtraders, just a guesstimate )
Recharging Cloak = Brooch + Mystic Cloak in a Loom of Jeral, probably found in the Plane of Knowledge. Again, not sure of trivial, might even be a no fail combine because this would be a good cloak to lose to failure.
Well, now this is how you recharge your Mystic Cloak, for the full story, check the EQtraders PoP message boards, the thread is called "Planar Jewelcraft recipe/quest. I think I'll try to get one of these cloaks, and good luck on recharging it! ^_^

I just completed this quest on 7th Hammer and here's what I know:
1)The "24 Hour" spawn rule is bogus. I camped this guy four nights in a row from 5pm to midnight and the priest only popped on the 4th night around 10 pm.
2) My level 39 Wizard took him down pretty easily. Interrupt his heals with Tishan's (or other stuns for you non-Wizards) as much as you can.
3) The wife is in the Erudin Palace zone (with the bank) and not Erudin.

After many times camping the spawn point, and clearing out MANY placeholders, we had given up. Last night we stopped by to check the spawn point one last time since we were bound in the area and had just gated back. Well my 31st level Shaman friend (ok, RL wife) ran on in while I prepared my air pet. We found that if you run through fast enough nothing will agro, so she immediately rounded the corner and upped the stairs. She was getting ready to check the closet below the spawn point, as we alway clear it out first to alleviate possibility of an add, when she starts yelling that she's getting hit by the Priest, over 25 hours of RL camping during different times with no spawn, and the punk now has run down to meet her. I blaze in, a little too excite, almost agro another ghoul, but luckily just missed it... the Shammie is going down fast, down to a bubble and a half, pet on Priest, tell her to get back down the hall and heal, too much agro, she can't get back, can't get a heal off. I start chaining casts on him, averaging about 160 dmg each time, he finally takes a swing at me, she gets healed to half and we take him out.
Grab the key, grab the stupid other stuff he dropped (rusty LS, Rawhide Shoulderpads) .. and hauled back to zone line. Check everything out... she has 1 bulb health, I have what looks like a single pixel of mana, and my pet is happy as it could be, took about bulb .5 of damage myself.
2 lev 31s took him with air pet fairly easily, considering the shammie ran in with only one bulb of mana. Stayed up late finishing up the quest, and now have 5 more int :)
Happy Human Mage with 192 int at lev 31.

2. Make sure you aren't camping the Frenzied Ghoul, the placeholder is just "a ghoul" if you see something else, you're at the wrong spot.
3. He's tough, you can do it over level 35, but under, better have help.
