I did the quest today and the chunk of Prismatic metal dropped from a regular ice goblin in the area just beyond the ladder near the zone in. Saved me trying to find the goblin sage!

You must do the first Guktan Shield quest before doing this one. When you hail him again, he advances the quest for the shield.
You say, 'Hail, Yun Trainer Kintok' Yun Trainer Kintok says 'Ahh, so you have returned to me with your shield. It appears to have gotten some good use in the recent months. Before I can get to work on your shield, I need a few components. Would you mind [retrieving the components] for me?' You say, 'I will retrieve the components' Yun Trainer Kintok says 'A brave young initiate, indeed. This task may prove to be a bit daunting, but the items I require are quite rare, and are not available in this section of the world. Return to me with a [chunk of prismatic metal], a [chunk of refined metal], a [shield frame mold], in addition to your Initiates shield, and then I will get to work on rebuilding your shield for you!' You say, 'What chunk of prismatic metal?' Yun Trainer Kintok says 'This particular type of metal is very difficult to come by, and has only ever been reported to me as being found in the caverns of Permafrost. Last I heard, some sort of sage or something had been hoarding it for some sort of an experiment that he was working on. If you can find the sage, you'll find the metal.' You say 'What chunk of refined metal?' Yun Trainer Kintok says 'The refined material has only ever been found in the depths of Unrest Mansion. It is regretful, but I cannot recall what, or who was guarding this item, but I'm sure, if you explored the mansion thoroughly, you would find some.' Kill dark boned skeletons in Unrest until you loot a Chunk of Refined Metal. You say, 'What shield frame mold?' Yun Trainer Kintok says 'Ahh, the mold, yes. . . Unfortunately, I do not know exactly where one would obtain one of these particularly useful molds. I used to know a smith in Halas, he may have one, you might go speak with him. Tell him that I sent you.' Head to Halas and find Kevan McPherson. This is a vendor in the McPherson's Bloody Blades shop (southeastern part of the city). You say, 'Hail, Kevan McPherson' Kevan McPherson says 'Well met, _____! I'm Kevan McPherson, the best darn smith in the north. Have ye come to purchase my finely crafted weapons or are ye wanting me ta teach ya the secrets of Northman smithing?' You say, 'Kintok sent me.' Kevan McPherson says 'He did, did he? How is that fool doing? Its been a while since I saw him last! So, what has he sent you here for? Oh, a mold? I have a stockpile of those laying around. I suppose I could part with one if you were able to somehow get a fire goblin skin.' Give Kevan the fire goblin skin. Kevan McPherson says 'Well, arent you full of surprises! I appreciate you retrieving this for me, as I cant really leave my shop here for very long, the services I provide are nearly irreplacable. As promised, here is your mold! Good luck!' He gives you a Shield Frame Mold. Head back to Gukta and give Yun Trainer Kintok your Guktan Initiate's Shield (from step 1), Chunk of Prismatic Metal, Chunk of Refined Metal and the Shield Frame Mold. Upon turn-in: Yun Trainer Kintok says 'You have proven to be quite a resourceful young initiate! I had not expected to see you again for quite some time. This was definitely not an easy task to complete, by any means' he says, as he begins working on the shield. A few hammer swings, and a jug of water later, he holds the new shield up for inspection. ' Here you are, you've earned it! I replaced the old wooden shield frame with a metal one, it should increase the durability of the shield ten fold. May it serve you well!' I completed the quest for the third shield today. I went to Erud's Crossing. Must be higher than 30 for him to talk to you I ablieve. You tell him "I am prepared for an attack". The four untargetable zombie guardians attack you, and you must kill them and keep Maldok alive. He then asks you to escort him to the docks. Hail him, and you get "Note to Kintok". Go back to Innothule swamp and hand in the note and the 2nd shield to kintok. He gives you:

Hi, first of all, what is the soulstone and how do you get it ? Second, I got shields 1 and 2, what exactly should I do to get 3, and what level should I be to bring this quest to a succesful conclusion.

HHmmm I think the quest is still broken...
I went to Eruds Xing, Hailed Maldok, he basically says he needs help escaping...
the ZOmbies attack (you have to keep maldok alive) Once the battle is done you escort him to the dock he hands you a note and tells you to take it back to kintok... well I've done this 2 times now.. Kintok just eats the note... I don't know if you have to say something to kintok or not... but I tried a bunch... Pls help! I want my 3rd shield upgrade =P

ok so I got him to talk to me about saving him from the zombies. they were too high for me alone, so I will bring back troops later. what group did you do it with? also, some froglok quests are furthered by simply hailing the NPC when you have the item he wants, just a thought.

Tryed it yesterday on Stromm also, but he gave me his usual speech when I hailed him that he would rather stay there then perhaps to be brought to his enemies.
I had a complete Frogie Shaman Armor on me, the cudgel, 2nd shield and the Soulstone in the inventory. Even tied to swap the 2nd shield and the soulstone and no farther progress.
I am anly lvl 30 and seeing that you are lvl 31 and was able to get a positive responce I would say the level all that matters to get him to follow you.
Also what did the zombies con to you at 31? I cannot even target them at this point.

I can't get Maldok to follow me. He says "You dont know Kintok? I'd rather stay here then be delivered to the hands of my enemies." What did you say ti him, or what items did you have?

after you killed the zombies?
if its after you killed the zombies I just hailed him again... he says something yada yada yada then he follows.
if its before ya killed the zombies...
then ya hail him, and just follow the prompts to start the quest, zombies attack, kill them while keeping Maldok alive, once done see above
I was 36 when I did this and I had my soulstone on me...

I gave Maldok in the Crossing my Soulstone ... he definately ate it. Who knows wtf this guy wants, but oh is he annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

I hunt Perma a lot looking for HQ ore and it seems this has replaced HQ ore for the most part. I hunted in there this last weekend march 22-23 2003 and a chunk of prismatic metal droped like 1 in 3 mob had it. i only got 1 HQ ore thaqt entire time.....

Hello I play on Venril server and today is march 15 2003.
I went to eruds crossing hailed Yun Assistant Maldok. Did everything like the person before, then i said well lets see handed him the 3wis shammy newbie earring ya get to prove to him i was sent. He ate it as i was warned he would, handed him a different item to see if he would respond with i dont need this item you can have it back, He doesnt therefore he is buged on live servers. As for needing teh soulstone dont know till he is working correctly. Good luck to all and i await it going live :-)

Got the 2nd shield np. Third seems bugged atm. Yun Assistant Maldok is inside the haunted ship off the caost of the island in Erud's Crossing. He is surrounded by 4 untargatable zombie guardians that just stand there swimming in the 4 corners of the room in the sunken ship.
When hailed he talks about being held captive and how he would rather stay a captive then delivered to his enemies clutches.
He responds to absolutely nothing, tried every possible sentence combo that I could (even saying continue) he would not respond. Did not try giving him anything as proof because doing this quest all over would be pretty tedious, and was told he eats items. He conned green to my level 20 shaman, but was a huge undercon and had splattered me with a nice dot, and other spells that were way over my level. Brought in my 60 druid to kill him he didn't drop anything and there was no faction hit either. Did not elicit any response from Kintok the quest giver either after speaking with him.
I did complete the inititate quest to become a citizen, have the earring, faction was not a problem. I wasn't wearing any of the equipment while talking to him...wonder if maybe that might have helped.
***EDIT*** Upon further investigation it would seem you need to complete the quest for Guktan Initiates Soulstone (which is currently bugged on all live servers) in order to have the proof that you know Kintok to complete the third shield. Looks like until the soulstone quest is corrected won't be seeing the 3rd shield on anything other than test.

What wa the loc of Yun Assistant Maldok? Maybe you have to kill the mobs surrounding him then hail him? or is Yun Assistant Maldok's part of the quest faction based?

if this thing gets better id like to know; most shaman frogs will be twinked with a decent shield by time they can do this quest (naff reward )
However if this is the frogg version of the iksar mace, then its intriguing....

There is a third part. Kintok will upgrade the shield a third time if you can help him out. It seems there is a missing shipment that was coming from Erudin that never made it with his assistant. He said it disappeared somewhere between Erudin and Qeynos and to go investigate and return when you have made progress. I have found Yun Assistant Maldok in Erud's crossing surrounded by four Zombie gardians. When I hail him he says, "did Kintok send you? you dont know who Kintok is? well then, I would rather remain here captured then to be delivered into the hands of my enemies", or something close to that. I have tried saying as many combinations of phrases I could to him with no response, I also went back to Kintok saying things like I have progress to report and I have found your assistant, to no avail there either. I even gave my shield to the assistant to try and prove that i know Kintok, but he just took it, so had to get it again. grrr. I believe that this quest may tie in with one that you get from an erudite by the dock in erudin to investigate a lost shipment. So far I have not found anything more to move this forward. If anyone else has any ideas please post em, thanks!

You might try the erudite that is by the lake in Qeynos Hills.. he drops something that possibly could be for this quest (it's also used in a quest in Paineel, but you never know with Verant) .. There is also a "crate of supplies" that drops in Gunthak.. *shrug*.. just two possibilities

Fire Goblin Skin: drops from fire goblins in Solusek's Eye, skin is no drop, but the mold you receive from Kevan McPherson is not.
Be sure to check nearby vendors for the metals in case someone had sold it to them. They are not expensive (a couple of gold pieces I believe).

Once I found the bloody twigs' spawn spot in Gfay and Misty, it was just a matter of time. Not too difficult actually. I wonder how hard it's gonna be to get the two chunks of metal needed?
