At the end of the previous quest, you were told of a "quest of greater importance."

You say, 'What quest of greater importance?'

Tiam Khonsir says 'Very well then, you may be able to help us. Go to Breya and tell her I sent you. She will brief you.'

Go find Breya Nostulia.

You say, 'Hail, Breya Nostulia'

Breya Nostulia stares off into the distance in meditation. Her eyes are a light blue, much like the tropical waters of the ocean between Odus and the mainland. She ignores your greeting.

You say, 'Tiam sent me.'

Breya Nostulia says 'Seems you've slain quite a few kobolds, then. This is good. You will need to kill many more to fulfill your quest. While the kobolds are fairly primitive, they are an ancient race and have learned to wield the powers of the spirits. This ability is the only thing that has kept us from eradicating them completely. We need you to find instruments of their craft.'

You say, 'What instruments?'

Breya Nostulia says 'There are two items we seek. The shamans carry medicine pouches in which they hold the materials of their craft. Only the more adept shamans are allowed to carry the pouches; seek them out. The other item we seek is of greater importance.'

You say, 'What other item?'

Breya Nostulia says 'The other is a magical bowl from which a highly skilled shaman may divine the future or diagnose illness. Only the wisest of the kobold shamans have the intelligence to use the bowls, or perhaps an outcast with powers that the other, larger kobolds fear. Bring me a kobold medicine pouch and the diviner's bowl and you shall be rewarded with the armor of our trusted knights and priests.'

Kobold Medicine Pouches drop from A Kobold Shaman. The Diviner's Bowl drops from Krode the Diviner. Hand in the items.

Breya Nostulia says 'I'll need both the kobold medicine pouch and the diviner's bowl before I can reward you, ______. Good luck.'

Breya Nostulia says 'Well done, ____. I had a feeling you would return victorious. Here is your reward, the Leggings of Midnight Sea. Wear them with pride for the Ocean Lord. If you are interested in aiding us further, you may want to ask Gans about his brother.'

This should be a Velious era quest since it requires you to go to The Warrens, and that zone isn't available in classic.

Kobold Shaman's Pouch
# Sep 22 2013 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
Kobold Shaman's Pouch drops reliably from "a greater kobold shaman" in stoneburnt mountains. If you exit Warrens and go just a little west of the warrens zone line (along the western zone wall) plenty of the kobold shaman spawn there. Seems to be a fairly common drop too (got 3 or 4 to drop in about 20 minutes). I could NOT find either "a kobold wanderer" or just "a kobold shaman". Hope this helps, if anyone is trying to grind Deepwater Knights faction.

Handing in one item:

Breya Nostulia says 'I'll need both the kobold medicine pouch and the diviner's bowl before I can reward you, ____. Good luck.'

Handing in the second item:

Breya Nostulia says 'Well done, ____. I had a feeling you would return victorious. Here is your reward, the Leggings of Midnight Sea. Wear them with pride for the Ocean Lord. If you are interested in aiding us further, you may want to ask Gans about his brother.'

Faction hits are:

I was able to get her to give me the information for the quest, although as an Erudite Magician I won't bother to complete it. No use getting an armor piece that's not for your class and is No Trade. Too bad, I'd like to complete it and sell the armor piece.
I assume anyone can get the quest information from her as long as you get refered to her, from handing in enough Kobold Molars to the other Paladin GM.

I'm a HIE level 29 mage, I camped this guy with a 30 bard and a 25 Paladin. We had the bard charm them on at a time out to the hallway where we mashed them under our toes. First time we went in there they aggroed my pet and I tell you these guys are quick death-like 6 of them nuking at once-it's embarrassing to go down to greenies.
Second time ditched the pet and we pulled them one at a time then rushed in to kill the Diviner-he was not trivial, though the mischevious ones occasionally were. So we'd camp this room a bit clearing the little guys out and spreading out the spawns. We'd occasionally go get Mulgwump (if any smart@--es respond to this saying I mispelled his name I'll hit you with my Broom) then we'd stroll upstairs and mash the King, his pet and his Shaman friend for a bit of xp. After doing this cycle probably killing the Diviner 8 times- 2 shawls-no bowl. What's the problem?

I was wondering...I have a level 10 Erudite pally and a level 19 shaman. If I had a guildmate pull Krode and beat on him a bit, could I kill Krode with my shaman and loot with my pally? Any other ideas.... I really want the midnight sea mail =(

These also drop in stonebrunt, and you can find them lying around, sometimes right around the entrance.
Midnight sea

I went to Odus to get my midnight sea mail. The sleeves were easy, took about an hour and a half. The leggings though...I'm level 21 and I had a ranger friend track the bad guy. We got jumped and killed before getting anywhere near him. The next time I had a level 35+ warrior riding shotgun with me. She cleared out the batlings and let me have a go at krode. I just about got him when he ran, aggroing all his friends onto me. They stunned me so I couldnt catch him, and in spite of the efforts of my friend they overwhelmed me and I died. (This being the warrens they were all green to me, thus ensuring I lost the very maximum amount of experience). Tried again...exactly the same result. I had to give up - thats six blue bulbs of xp, hours of adventuring, gone in fifteen minutes. Another death and it would be a level too.
The correspondant above who mentions you need a group is perfectly correct. The difficulty is, getting such a group in the warrens is very difficult because there is so few people wander down here of the right level. Frankly, this quest is totally impossible to do unless you have some good guild mates.

Aye Friend. Tis hard to get ta Krode but what ye need friend is a group consisting of atleast 5 players, went there meself, me being at that time 19 Warrior and had me some mate´s, a lvl 18 Bard, 19 Ranger, 18 Cleric, 21 Mage and a 19 Druid. Me, the ranger and mage´s pet took the brunt of the damage while the bard dual sang and cleric just healed and druid buffed us good. After some killing the King and his High shaman advisor spawned - Luckily we got help from a lvl 40 caster character who was passing through - he cast some kind of Lull on the High shaman so we could take out the kingand his nasty pet - after high shamans death...Krode spawned in his room. Ach me dislike these kobolds even more now and especially after falling down the hidden chute at Krode´s room. But he died like the rest..

trivial loot code
# Sep 12 2001 at 8:26 PM Rating: Default
With the 9/11 patch (don't think anyone will ever forget that date), it was stated that zones with the trivial loot code had been fixed so that some quest items would drop regardless of level. Anyone know if that applies to the items for this item?
RE: trivial loot code

It's true. A high level warrior was waxing the zone a few weeks ago, the bowl dropped and a shaman got to loot it.

Of my entire first 12 levels spent in Tox with my Chanter, the beads of which you speak dropped for me... once...
I held on to them cause I haven't looked up what they're for... but with all the Shamans I killed, they're pretty darn rare...
Haven't seen any in the Warrens yes (@15 now) but I have been getting some other type of bone necklace off of the ones in Warrens...

pulling krode

Little tip on pulling Krode... not sure if anyone else has the same, but my Erudite Cleric (Prexus) isn't kos to the batlings... he can just run in and not get jumped.
Krode
# Aug 01 2001 at 5:22 PM Rating: Default
I will admit right upfront that I had help getting the diviner's bowl. Pretty much every piece of midnight sea mail is a pain to get and nearly impossible unless you have help.
A higher level char was nice enough to pull Krode out of his cave so I could kill him. People are usually willing to help out with things like that if you explain it's for a quest.
I have all 3 pieces of this armor. Killing Krode is pretty simple once you get him out of the cave. The sleeves were a pain to get and I think I must have killed Muglwump 6 times or so before he dropped the coat. It was incredibly frustrating.
I like the armor, but don't expect to be able to get it without help. And beware of the warrens trivial code.
Erm..

I know it's probably already posted several times... but just incase a lower level person is reading this... they should get a quick warning. You CANNOT do this at level 14! Unless you have a group of higher (30 to 35) level guys with you. My two friends (19 rogue, 35 wizard) and myself (23 bard) were wandering around Warrens when we decided to go kill Krode for ... fun? Anywho, we go down the secret one way passage and I'm sitting there, trying to remain motionless in a room full of blue batlings. My rogue friend scouts ahead with hide sneak to see if it's clear, and the batlings unleash their magic to some horrible degree. They chain nuke like no tomarrow... Me and the rogue died, obviously, and the wizard made it out okay, but 2 bubs of HP down and completly OOM. Just wanted to warn everyone, do not try this at anything below a group of 20s.

First of all I was helping my wife get this piece of armor, she is level 20 (I am 19) and we have spent many many nights in the warrens killing greater and lesser shaman and have never gotten the Kobold Shaman's pouch. Greater Shaman are still blue to us. Does anyone know if this pouch still drops?

Secondly an update, we where whacking shamans in Tox and got some kobold paws so she went to her guild in Erudin to turn them in. We noticed that the quest has been updated. The guild person mentions something about more powerful shaman in the warrens. She metions lesser, greater and even a High shaman. She asks for the beads that these shaman carry. Don't know what the reward is yet since we have not found any yet...

TRY HAVING THE POUCH FIRST
# Jul 02 2001 at 2:59 AM Rating: Default
I have both pieces for this quest. Stumbled upon a lesser shaman in Tox and killed him and looted his bag and necklace. Read up on the quest for the pouch, nothing for the necklace yet, and found I had to get the bowl. A 51 Champion helped me camp Krode by clearing the area of batlings. A level 20 druid can take anything down there solo (one on one), they all conned blue to me. Anyway, I camped and killed Krode about 6 times before the Champion had to leave without ever getting the bowl. Sometime later, he asked if I wanted to try again and so I did. The minute Krode died, he had the bowl...course I had the pouch with me that time. Maybe having the pouch in your inventory makes the bowl spawn??? The bowl itself is nice for any shaman, +2 to wisdom AND intelligence...wish druids could use it.
