Blixkin Entopop roams the inside of the wall and has an unusual hobby. He collects bug parts, and you are just the halfling to help him out. Talk to him and ask him about the bug collection, and he will give you a list of six bug parts and a box to collect them in.

You say, 'Hail, Blixkin Entopop'

Blixkin Entopop says 'Hail, Yatri! My name is Blixkin Entopop. Have you seen the wonderful assortment of [spiders] and [beetles] that inhabit the thicket? I have quite an extensive [bug collection]. Be careful, though. I have seen many brave halflings fall beneath a [swarm] of clicking and hissing bugs.'

You say, 'Tell me about your collection.'

Blixkin Entopop says 'I collect all kinds of bugs but most of the ones I have are dead. [Ember] is the only exception. I just like them for their pretty colors and I admire how loyal they are to each other. If you want to, you can help me complete my collection and I will reward you for your time. Here is a list of the bug parts I need for my collection. If you [don't have a bug collection box] to collect the bug parts in, just ask me for one. I think I have some extras.'

You say, 'I don't have a box.'

Blixkin Entopop says 'Here you go. Just follow the instructions on the [list] so you know what to collect and how to prepare the collection for me.'

The six bug parts for this quest are:

1) Spiderling eyes,
2) spiderling silk,
3) Fire beetle eyes,
4) Giant scarab egg sac (note: although there are a few giant scarabs in Misty Thicket, they're rare. I suggest getting them somewhere else),
5) Giant fire beetle leg (these are found in the Western Karanas, on the queen klacknak and on the queen Kliknik in Qeynos who is a faster spawn),
6) Giant wasp wings (these are found in Misty Thicket; the only other place to get them is on Crookstinger in Lesser Faydark).

After collecting the items, hit combine and give the box back to him, along with the list he gave you, for your reward.

  • Give Blixkin Entopop the Complete Bug Collection and the list he gives you (if you need another, ask him for a list).

Blixkin Entopop says 'Oh you have a complete collection for me?! Good! Good! Well done. But remember that I need the complete bug collection and you must return my want list before I can pay you.'
Blixkin Entopop says 'Excellent! Good work! I knew you were the one for this job! Thank you so much! My collection just gets better and better each day. Here is your reward as I promised.'

Your faction standing with Merchants of Rivervale got better.
Your faction standing with Deeppockets got better.
Your faction standing with Guardians of the Vale got better.
Your faction standing with Mayor Gubbin got better.
Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk Underground got worse.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 7 silver from Blixkin Entopop.
You receive 4 gold from Blixkin Entopop.

I would not worry about killing the stupid scarab in misty thicket, I swear like a whole 2 or 3 spawn. and its a pretty rare drop. Go somewhere like NORTH RO, or WEST COMMONS and buy the sacks. I honestly cant remember where I was but I stocked up on the suckers.

kill beatles in WEST KARANA for legs. I was in north... my bad. RIGHT where WK and NK meet... of course IN West Karana... on that road and in the hills (is nice because you can high tale it to zone)

Also The wasp wings are the pain. It might be a BIT easier now that there are new mobs Yellowjackets, so you dont waste your time killing these extra wasps. I mean it seems the GIANT WASP population was thinned out with yellow jackets. Maybe thats NOT a good thing? They were ok with me because they were a blue hunt.

WHENEVER POSSIBLE BUY the stuff. Like sometimes you can run near zone entrance fo the halfling town and just buy the spiderling eyes. Which I find to be one of the biggest pains to get to drop.

I had an alt, that was a perfect level to hunt the beeltles anyays. (usually Teleports are easy to get in WK also) My point is I now have all the stuff (except the wings GRRRR - which I hunt blues for anyways in Misty) To do this quest about 4 more times. So my recomendation is, if you find yourself in the position to, STOCK UP on all the stuff.

Easiest place to get the Giant Fire Beetle Legs is in WK. They are dropped by GIANT BEETLES, not GIANT FIRE BEETLES as stated in earlier posts. I found them around
neg 500 by neg 5000 in WK. The easiest place to get the Egg Sacks in off the Death Beetles in Unrest. Got 11 Sacks in a few hours

The wings...Lords of Light, don't even ask me about the Giant Wasp Wings

After searching everywhere for Blikxin Entopop, I finally found him. I followed him for a while, hailing and hailing. He finally acknowledged my existence on about the tenth hail by killing me! I con amiable to the NPCs in Misty Thicket. What did I do wrong?

Another notation. If your health/mana/stamina box is blinking red your AUTO ATTACK is on. maybe oyu were out of range hailing. You swung on him and he dropped you like a bad habbit.... be careful its not on when approaching NPC's. I am thinking Hailing him up close target him and POW.

Killed you probably because you attempted to kill his little firebeetle buddy that is named. I did that too, stupid thing.

Maybe that's why he killed me, but I would have sworn all I did was hail him, A LOT. I saw his little bug pet, it was cute.

Blixkin Entopop's house is left of the path in a small valley, about a third of the way to the wall if you start at the Rivervale Entrance. If you get tired of running around looking for him, just wait at his house. He stops there every few minutes.

    # Dec 11 2001 at 2:33 AM Rating: Decent
I just spent 2 nights in Qeynos waiting for the Queen Kliknik to spawn enough times to get several legs (3 of us doing the quest). So I get back to Misty, give my completed bug collection back to Blixkin...and I forgot to hand him the note...back to the bank in Rivervale i Go to get the note (I had kept it...) and the return to Misty Thicket...and there on a tree is Queen Klaknak. I kill her and get 2 more Giant Fire Beetle Legs! I rush back and give my want list to Blixkin and he gives me a Silver Bracelet...quest complete! So I think that Queen Klaknak has moved...as I also saw a few Klaknak Warriors in Misty Thicket also.
    Ugh...

I went and counted.... 84 wasps killed, 0 wings... can I curse on these boards? No scarab eggs either, so I finally ported to Butcher and bought one off a vendor (where people don't know what to do with 'em)... but come on... 84 kills without a wing... thats rediculous.

    # Nov 07 2001 at 11:38 AM Rating: Default
I did this quest in a few hours and got the bracelet of beetlekind my first try. The giant wasp wings are a pain to get, but keep killing those wasps. I had three drop right in a row after at least 20 that had none. All in all a good quest
    A few tips...
    # Nov 03 2001 at 6:05 PM Rating: Good
Well, my cleric did this quest about 12 or so times while is misty thicket from levels 10 to 14. I got the beetlekind the very first time! I then put it on my mule there, but I never managed to get another one (nor the silver bracelet, which is what I really wanted to complete the set.) Just before leaving, I had the mule drop it on the ground to retrieve with my cleric, but then my cable modem goes down for half an hour! AAARGH! I managed to make about 50 or so plat, so the trip wasn't a complete wash, but I was stil cursing up a blue streak. Anyway...

Forget what you've read about how hard it is to find the giant fire beetle legs. Just hop on over to west karana. There are giant beetles swarming all over that zone and they almost always drop at least one, and often a pair! I got a backpack full very quickly whenever I went.

Spiderling eyes might seem like no problem what with the spiderlings all over misty thicket, but they seemed to be an annoyingly rare drop when I tried to get them. You might want to bring some along from another zone before you head over there. (Steamfont would probably be a good place to buy em.) Or you could offer a reward of a few gold pieces to newbies for them.

South ro is a good place to get scarab sacks. Try the gypsies.

Wasp wings. Ugh. This is the worst part. First of all, forget any posts below about specific spawns having the wings or anything like that. I found them on all different spawns at different times of the day. Nor were they necessarily heading towards the guards. (The wasps in Gfay drop regular wasp wings, NOT giant, incidentally.) Here's what I've discerned as definite fact:

First off, wasps only spawn during the day and early nightime. They stop popping in after 10PM (game time, not real time), and resume around 7 the following morning. In a way, it's nice to have a breather so you can go find blitzen or go to the bank, etc.

Second, rather than waiting a certain time after they're killed to respawn, the wasps have specific hours in the day when they appear. I never managed to pin down the exact times, but the first one is around 7, the next at 10, then 11 or noon, then every couple of hours after that until 10PM when they stop for the night. Whenever one of their spawn times comes up, three or four pop in. (Not necessarily in a group. They could be on opposite sides of the zone.) If there are too many, no more will come, so kill them as quickly as possible after they appear. I managed to get about 1 wing every two game days. yes, they really are that rare.

Hope this helps some others questing for this..

    Completed Quest
    # Oct 28 2001 at 5:34 PM Rating: Decent
I was able to complete this quest with my level 9 druid. After I turned in the completed box and list all I got was spider venom with 1 charge worth 8 gold at a merchant.

I found the wasp wing on a wasp at the far west end of Misty Thicket, the scarab egg sac on a scarab in East Commonlands, and the giant beetle leg on a giant fire beetle in Western Karana.

I dont know if it is worth it to do the quest again. If I happen upon one of the rarer items i might save it, but don't think it was worth it to actively go find the items.

Not sure who the merchant was, pretty sure it was in the town section in the supply shop for food and drink, but I was able to buy 4 giant fire beetle legs. Sure made the quest easier for me.
    Disappointing
    # Oct 19 2001 at 5:15 AM Rating: Decent
I just completed this quest after 6 and a half hours trying to round up the various items needed. The worst part was getting the giant fire beetle legs to drop from the Queen Klicnik in North Qeynos, almost 3 hours there. I came out of it with a vial of spider venom, but that may be simply because I forgot to return the note with the box. All in all, I could have spent my time elsewhere.
    Finally Completed this quest
    # Oct 16 2001 at 12:41 PM Rating: Default
I finally completed this quest today. I had gathered enough ingredients to complete it three times. TWO Bracelets of Beetlekind and a Potion of Posion Warding were my rewards. I AM SO HAPPY!!! For the record, Blixkin wants the completed bug collection AND the Want List turned in to him in order for you to receive the reward. I found that the Giant Wasps spawn frequently in the far west end of the zone near the Goblin camps. I usually saw three at a time back there. I found almost all of the ingredients in Misty Thicket, here is a run down.

    Found In Misty Thicket:
Fire Beetle Eye (common), Spiderling Eye (common), Spiderling Silk (common), Giant Wasp Wing (rare) and Giant Scarab Egg Sac (rare).

Found in Eastern Plains of Karana:
Giant Fire Beetle Legs (Drop off of Giant Beetles)

    Found in East Common Lands:
Giant Scarab Egg Sac (common) ( Merchant here have these too)

All in all a worthwile quest for my 18 Lvl Wood Elv Rogue. I am going to try my 8 Lvl Ranger next and see if he can't get the Queen Klaknak Beetle to spawn, so I won't have to travel so far for the ingredients.

Blixkin does not require the list back, which I accidentally found out tonite when I returned the box to him. However, all I got was a vial of spider venom, which may be because of my absent-mindedness in forgetting to return the list.

Tried this quest today and but there seems to be a bug in the quest. (No pun intended)
When I ask about the Bug Collection I got the Want List for the bug parts needed but when I asked about the Bug Collection Box I got the message Duplicate Lore Items Not Allowed even tho I do not have the box on me or in the bank.
So I just destroyed the note. I ran in to him again later and thought I would try again. This time I ask about the Bug Collection Box first and I got the Want List again. Still no box.
He seems to be giving the list when asking about the collection or the collection box now. :(
I tried ask What box and got no responce. Tried what collection box and got the want list again. Tried What bug box and no responce.

wing spawns at noon eq time!!!
    # Aug 26 2001 at 9:39 PM Rating: Default
I did this quest 5 times and at first found it very difficult to find the wasp that drops the wing. Well after many days of getting really aggravated and swearing profusely at the guards for killing my wasps, I have figured the spawn time and place of the wasps that drops the wing. At noon eq time, 2 or 3 wasps spawn in the valley between the two goblin camps on the west wall by runnyeye. As soon as the wasps spawn they make a bee-line (no pun intended) for the guards at the wall. The first time I saw this, 3 of them spawned. I killed one and stared in disbelief that I had finally got a wasp wing. I didn't kill the others (the guards got them). However, the second time 2 spawned, and I killed both. Each had a wing. Another time, 2 spawned again and once again both had wings. Again, both times were at noon eq time. Seems that 2 is the usual number to spawn, not three. Perhaps when the third spawns it drops something cool, or maybe another wing, but I'm not sure. I hope that this helps whoever is doing this quest from going through the frustration of waiting for these damn wasps to spawn, and from seeing giant wasps in your sleep!

I had read that the Giant Wasp Wing drops from Wasp Drones in GFay....IT DOES NOT!
However, it does drop from Crookstinger in LFay, but you have to kill every wasp in the zone before he will spawn by the Brownie camp in the NorthWest corner of the zone. To do this you either have to be, or have with you, a tracker to find all the wasps in the zone. I tried this several times with a high-level tracker helping me and he failed to spawn for hours. I finally resolved myself to the fact that I must find them in Misty Thicket.

The easiest way to obtain the Giant Scarab Egg Sac, is to go to the commons and either kill them, or purchase them from a merchant. The Egg Sacs do drop in Misty, but are rare.

PS. Remember that the reward from Entopop is randomly one of five items and that they are lore items. If you have the item already, you only get faction and experience...NO ITEM! I did it five times and got the bracelet of Beetlekind and the next time received the Silver Bracelet. I gave both of these items to my other, low-level character, so the next 2 times I turned in the Bug Collection to Entopop, I got the same items again. The 5th time I turned the bug collection and note in I received nothing.
Also, you only get descent experience for this quest up to about level 10. After that it wanes off until level 15, then you get VERY little or no experience.
    Hope this helps! Good Luck
