Is this guy only out during the daytime? I had him despawn on me as I was about to hand in the finished coffin. This was at 7pm game time, so I suspect that this is a night/day thing.
No - I killed him at 8:00 PM game time. He despawned as soon as I handed him the revenant ash.

ok, to whoever posted "dont fight him as a 14 warrior..." thats really moronic it obviously says under description that he's a lvl 63 npc .. so a 14 warrior wouldnt kill him in a million years.
Not entirely true, My calculations show that a lvl 14 warrior could kill him in just under 284,621 years. So long as he had a cleric backing him up. Ohh and this guys would have to be totally Paralysed.
And stripped naked.

he is a part of a quest for paladin's who wish to obtain, devine might spell, pops a lvl 50 bonie. did it on a raid tonight and this guy didn't like ma 45 ogre, kilt me in a bout 4 seconds, pretty sad too i was the only one to die :))
That...that's.. .It's Him! This guy Wacked me for 680 with some spell. Heès got vicious spell range so don't even think of zoning :(. Definate KOS.

anyone know what kind of resistances you need to have to not take dmg from his spells and if he summons?
