Wailing Substancecon'd high blue to me,rooted,nuked,while pet attacked,dropped the substance,collar,and owlbear parts all on same drop,after camping him a few more times,i realized his wail wasn't affecting me anymore,thats when i came up with the idea maybe the wailing substance was blocking the affect(?).just a theary

I solo'd him with my Level 20 Enchanter, and he conned even.
Was a fairly tough fight. Secret is to root him, drop as many debuffs on him as possible, then run past him so that your pet gets engaged.
Keep an eye on the pets health, and when either the pet or he hits 50% nuke the snot out of him.
Keep your distance though, that owlbear screech proc is EVIL at this level. 65pts DD plus 2-10 seconds of stun. He hit me for 45s when i checked how hard he was hitting.

This guy isn't too bad a camp for my 25th druid. He cons high blue to me (again, reaffirming that Allakhazam's has his level way off) he hasn't dropped this collar for me yet...perhaps they nerfed it cuz I do get a POS collar that is 3 ac off him.
While I'm waiting for him, I can pull the bandits from the camps below, and there is a fungus guy up on the ramp to take out too. Killing him is funny, cuz when he hits, he makes a cheap sci-fi movie sound like a 1950's idea of a robot.

What are they used for? Just got one about 10 mins ago. Also, I dont see why people are having trouble soloing this guy, I guess its because im a monk =)

I killed him once and he dropped the collar sorry to say but it is Ac 5 str 3 wis 2.. i think it is rather good for newbies i gave it to my lvl 1 bard hehe

i got a no drop rock too, the wailing substance, i was going to drop it but it no drop so it will go in the bank with all my other shiny stuff i dont know what to do with

The wailing substance is combined with a shrieking substance (dropped by sonic wolves in various zones) to create humming orbs, which are used in a Val Shir smithing quest (for the humming hammer), and can be used to create shadowscream steel armour which is ok armour, not trivial in the 240s of smithing.
Unfortunately, the armour is a pain to make since it requires 3 humming orbs to charge the hammer, then a humming orb to make the armour, which decharges the hammer, which requires 3 more orbs to recharge. So a full suit of armour will require 56 humming orbs, assuming no failures.
Armour appears to be on a par with/slightly inferior to Ry'gorr armour.

Hammer does not need to be recharged after combine. Full recepies on eqtraders for shadowscream armour.

This guy is a push over, has 540-600hp and hits good once in a while. No prob for 2 people. He drops meat, skin and some other junk, killed him 5 times and never saw the collar. His spawn rate is about 10-15 mins sharp.

From what I've read here it seems that Yelloweyes lvl range is about 18-26 ( depending if u solo or not).
