He's an easy kill for a 16 magician... who has a pet that has blades of walnan, collar and muzzle, and a full suit of phantom plate, not to mention burnout and DS. Oh and I nuked a bit too. Careful, he runs and sometimes aggros Recondites.
One more thing, i HAVE seen him drop owlbear dung.. EWWWW!!!!! but i have (cant belive its used in SOUP!!! EWEWEWEWewWWWW!!!)
you know, am I alone on this, or does this thing look like that owl from "Things That go BUMP in the Night" ?

Wailing Substance is used in Blacksmith tradeskill to make Humming Orbs. The orbs are then used to make Shadow Scream Plate Armor -- nice armor.

Last thing, my 15 druid HAS indeed charmed him. Just depends on your luck. but. he usually only lasts for 1, or maybe 2 fights, so i just stick to charming the fish.
Have seen many druids charm him. He is a favorite for this because he does indeed make a great pet. :)

I took him as a lvl 20 mnk non twinked easy just time your mend to 2 bubbles and make shure you work on it from lvl one all the time. I almost mastered it already.

I found wailing substance on yelloweyes. what is it used for if anything?
Part of the Shar Vahl smithing. Used to make Shadowscream armor.
MY 16 Pally useing a 30/38 axe and in full fine steel plate with a few upgrade pieces soloed him no problem. I am a little twinked but this guy fell like a sack of rocks.
Guess there WAS one more thing. but i just HAD to respond. do you REALLY think thats tough? my rouge was freaking soloing PC and Unrest, Befallen, those palces NO FREAKING PROB!! But.. guess thats what happens when you have lots of genourus friends...(cough162STRcough).

Why are you using a 30/38 axe at level 16? You realize that with the pre 20 damage cap, it makes that weapon a 9/38 weapon right?
I was in a group that killed old yelloweyes the other day, and I looted a perfect owlbear pelt. It's the only one I've seen so far (I've been looking in the Bazaar too). Does anyone know what it's used for, and how much I can sell it for? (I'm on the Drinal server, in case you want to make me an offer).

Found out that the "Wailing Substance" is used in blacksmithing of a Humming Orb (Ref to http://eqtraders.com/secrets/smithing_armor.htm Listed at the bottom of the page) as part of a Vah Shir smithing quest. (Ref to http://eqtraders.com/quests/luclin_sharvahlsmith.htm ) Had to go to this site to look up somethings on blacksmithing and ran across it. Hope this helps.

I think the only way that twinking is bad is in this case when they guy didn't even use his own pp that he earned with his main but got all of his stuff for free.

Of COURSE it alters Game Balance... that doesn't nessecarily mean it's in a Good way!
For example (this is impossible, if course, but illustrates the point):
If it was possible for a level 1 Character to get so twinked up that he or she could solo one of the "Uber" boss creatures, and get that loot, then everyone would twink their level 1's that much, right? Well... then practically all the players who could twink well would have all this incredable gear on a little lowbie characters, and all the NON-twinks would no longer be able to compete in any way, shape, or form with the twinks... Either in PvP or for getting groups!

LOL - another twink debate.
Twinks are a non-issue for normal players because they aren't part of the normal level progression.
Twink a toon up with 100K plat in gear and guess what, he'll make 30th level in his first week or sooner. That will basically work out to oe hour or less of him owning the nubey grounds, another hour or two of soloing an orc, then a derv camp and then smacking around some high level stuff in a non-standard zone so that he doesn't have any nubes getting in his way.
After that, the guild or his buddies step in and he power levels to 45 or 50th level over the next two weeks and then he's just another face in the crowd at the latest raid.
Twinks aren't your problem, they aren't taking your resources, they don't have an unfair advantage over anyone because they aren't competing for the same resources - so a twink might take up the orc camp that you've been monopolysing with your budies for the past week for one evening - wah! Get over it - find something new to kill or god forbid, go out and take a real risk for your XP instead of 6 players ganking one blue mob at a time.

I'll agree or that lvl 30 with 3-4k plat worth of gear worked his/her butt off skilling in smithing , baking and pottery to sell goods or their services.

I turned, looked at him, and hit the attack button. It took ten hits with my CSS, and he died. He conned green at 34. Oh wait!!! So did everything else in that zone!!!

Impresive that someone thinks thier a bad @$$ cause they can take a lvl 20 mob down at lvl 34, but then again you are using a CSS so you cant expect to hit things your lvl with that junk

This guys a piece of cake.I took him from lvl 22 to lvl 26 with only 2 mishaps and no deaths.What i di was got a pet,medded to full,then charged in when spawned,and hacked away while I lifespiked and threw Dots on.Then when dead d pull a recondite or 3 and kill them,then start medding again.By the time I was full mana and to a decent amount of Hp,he'd pop and id repeat.On tthe mishaps,one was causec when i took to long killing recondites and he poped when 1/5 health and oom.othe happened when i was trained while killing him.

this guy is not as easy as some people say. im a a well equiped level 18 druid and he beat the crap out of me. first i tried to snare like o normally do for soloing...resisted..wailed me for 65damage and ran as fast as me with my sow. i turned to root...resisted...wailed me to hell and back. finally i gave up on root and snare and just nuked. resisted every nuke i shot. either this guy has a huge magic and fire resistance or he is a undercon. he coned even to me at the time. i made it out of the zone with about 50hps left. right after i zone about 3 more people really weak zoned in to. we all healed up and tried again....and we all died. so he is not as easy as people say. just a warning to all druids who think you can kite him. you are sadly wrong his resistances are way to high unless you using 24 spells.

go back at 19th and you will own him bro, np. Careless lightning is your first decent nuke, it should do the trick easily. and to the guy below, shut it, you dont know what you are talking about. a 19 druid is easily 10 times as powerful as an 18, its called new spells.

HE DROPS A FEATHER WORTH ABOUT 2 OR 3 PLAT AT THE VENDORS BUT I HEARD IT WAS FOR FLETCHING MAGICAL ARROWS. ANYONE HELP THIS LVL 25 RANGER OUT WHO LOVES TO FLETCH.
I have not seen him drop the Owlbear Feather, but many Owlbears do. Yelloweyes seems to drop all the standard Owlbear items, so I would not be surprised.
Anyway, the Owlbear Feather is used in Fletching (Owlbear Feather Dart) and in Tailoring (Owlbear Feathered Leggings). I usually get recipes from eqtraders (http://www.eqtraders.com).
I will confirm that he drops Perfect Owlbear Pelts as well, which I got for the first time last night. I have taken Yelloweyes out many times (over 20) and still have not gotten the Yelloweyes Collar. More camping to come. I was still getting exp at level 27.

So what does one do with it? It looks lie a field arrow tip but not combinable wiht arrow supplies. Is it for arrows or armor? Of course knowing VI it could just be a useless item. Any help would be useful.

Wailing substance is used in part of the Trade Skills Smithing quest in Shar Vahl. Any of the owlbears in Paludal can drop im.
Humming Orbs- wailing substance, shrieking substance, metal ring, vah shir anvil, luclinite mallet (ya get the anvil and mallet from doing the quest)
and the humming orbs are used in making the Shadow Scream Steel armor....

Yelloweyes Exclusive!! This owl bear is on a 10 minute timer, he spawns right near the Shadow Haven zone line. He drops: Owl Bear Meat, Damaged Owlbear Skin, Perfect Owl Bear Skin, Tattered Owl Bear Collar, Chipped Owl Bear beak, and Yelloweyes Collar. This is what he dropped for me at least. There may be more items =) Anway, he conned blue to my lvl 21 bard and was realtively easy to kill despite his "Scream".. gives about 3/4 a blue bubble per kills. Not bad XP, and if you get bored waiting just run up the path and lay to waste some Patog Fiends... Well there you have it. LATINO HEAT!!

This guy easy.Soloed him at lvl 25.Soon as i entered zone saw him in front so jst whacked um to death.Hit me to 3bubbs of health before started to run.Then got ambushed by several bandits.So had to zone cause they were backstabbing for veryhard!!!

I walked up to him and was surprised, just conned apprehensive to me, looked closely in his big yellow eyes, and checked that I wasn't in hide or sneak mode either.
Is anyone kos to him at first?
This will make doing the mining quests a lot faster.

The bandits and everything in the bandit camps are simmilar to bandits on Norrath in the fact that they aren't KOS to rogues
They're also not KOS to agnostic Bards.
cons red down to yellow to me 17BSt. Can solo with pet. Pull to Shadowhaven zone just incase ).
Pet and me hit on him till I drop to 2 bubs of health. Then heal pet as he finishes him off.
and join back in as he turns tail .... Done
