I've 2-boxed these with a 57 monk and a 46 cleric. At most I will have to get one heal over time spell off per fight. Monk never has to use mend, just tanks 'em. One golem will take monk down to 80% without heals. Monk had temp. Even easier with virtue and focus. Around 1% AA per kill for monk and 1.5% xp for cleric. They drop fast enough to make it worth it.
Very easy to snare root now. Dont know about before but no problems now. Also nasty hit if you attempt melee with mob. Dot/Pincushion worked best for my level 51 ranger, however in melee I was spun at least once by every mob (didnt start melee until mob was at 40% or less. Mobs hit for 139 max with your armor at just over 1000. Mileage may vary.
Been killing these with my 54 necro, spells i use are Dooming darkness(for pull) Ignite blood Splurt Plague Bond of death(mostly to keep me alive :) ) Paralyzing earth have to recast dooming and sometimes root but the dots are enough to kill em, had like 2 resists in 15 kills, 1 on root 1 on dooming.
The dots i use is probably doing a bit to much dmg for there hp but if i use only ignite and splurt i have to recast so i prefer this, since paralyzing have a tendency to last until mob dies i get plenty of time to med.
Why root rot? Look left from the Mons Letalis entrance; there's a big open area along the zone wall similar to the Elysian pull spot in Umbral. From the Mons zone entrance, pull down that ravine with Ebolt or Splurt. Pull to a good distance away from the area where the mobs roam around, then snare (Dooming, Insidious, Cascading; your choice), sic pet and Invoke Fear. As long as you pull far enough away from adds before you fear you should be perfectly safe sitting up on the zone wall while the golem barely walks away. While you're at it pull the Shissar Stalkers with Shackle of Spirit (either down the ravine or into the Mons zone entrance area), sic pet, FD to drop aggro, then get up snare and dot. Just steer clear of the rockfiends; they have a fairly large aggro range and are next to impossible to snare.
these things are very easy to kill using root and dot method ... they almost never resist root and dont have massive HP for the level like the rockfiends do.
the fire and cold resistance on them is quite high but magic resists seem to be nonexistant as i have only had root resisted once that i can remember by them and have never had snare resisted, lightning blast also seems to hit for full every time. stick with magic based attacks on these things and you cant go wrong
This mob could be rooted !!! my earth pet root him all the time. Max hit is not 110 but it's near 130. I need to chain cast one pet to kill him, but it's very easy.
These guys proc a 100pt. dd that spins you around. Wouldn't be so bad except every time they hit me with it, it was "Well, that'll keep the tank busy for a while. Now, where's that chanter?"

There's also a GolemSmash2 that's identical except it does 300 dmg.
Seems odd that the resistance check is disease, and it seemed more than 6ft pushback (although I was on a mountainside at the time, could have fallen a ways too).
once you got them debuffed fire spells hit for full almost all the time. Only got one partial resist and the rest hit for full everytime. Myself and sk did wonderful against these fear kiting them. i would use elemental malestorm on em then smack em with lava bolt. sometimes hit for double with bolt which always helps but we got little more than a blue each an hour with these. 55 sk and myself 53 mage handled them nicely with only one run to the zone the whole time. loot sucks but exp good. well worth it
I was in the Grey last night, 47 Bard, pulled 3 of these and proceeded to Charm kite. Low resist against charm, but high against Cold and Fire. Very Slow and easy. Damn good exp at my lvl.
Bard Slow works ok got about 50% resists against it.
These things were beefed up early on to be totally MR and later nerfed because they made the zone nigh impossible to hunt, given their wide aggro range, and hard hitting ways.
Now, they're CR and FR but not MR, so they can be slowed, snared and so on. They hit hard and fast, so slows are important with these.

Not sure how accurate the "snare is impossible" thing is anymore, dooming and cascading darkness work fine against golem, very easy fear kite and *great* xp for 51 nec.
However, shimmering rockfiends don't seem to snare... a druid snared him, said it was ensnared but it was still outrunning us, I darked, said it stuck, no slowing in movement. Maybe the mob is just so fast even when snared you can't outrun, or maybe snare just won't work on them =0.
BTW necs should solo around letalis or scarlet zone, easy pulls unless trainers are about, pull timeless, shissar, slaves, stay away from shimmering rockfiends.
Say what you will about a Tstaff being able to stun ANYTHING but this mob is "unstunable". My Tstaff proced and it did get hit by the DD however the stun did not work on this. I heard the zone was nerfed and thought that was the problem but after we fought a few snakies, the Tstaff proc worked on them.
Hit for about 110. However they do have a very nasty stun proc plus 100 point DD (I assume from that big meathook he calls a fist).
These mobs are UNMEZZABLE but are so lumbering slow that we were just parking with a snare/root if we had two. (THIS ZONE HAS JUST BEEN NERFED, SNARE/ROOT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE)
This mob hasn't dropped anything for us and are fairly common wanderers in The Grey. They are also social. When our puller grabbed one, another followed from what seemed a long way off, though he might of been a straggler from a "trap".
No faction hits that I saw, only on the snake men so far do that. Trivial loot up to this point.
SNARE/ROOT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. thats not true, as of today (02/12/03) i have snared several with no resists. and others before you have reported them snare and rootable. please read others post before you spread your babble.
