This is a named mob in the Dreadlands of Kunark. It is a rare Drolvarg and they are its place holders. The mob wanders and I have seen 2 at once, so it is only semi-rare. It drops the non-magic, lore whip "Yellow Whip" 7/33, melee and melee hyybrids only, all races - used in the Necromancer 8th Rank quest.

Killed just today at Loc 2025, -3980 by the zone in for FM. I spent 5 plus hours trying for him yesterday to no avail slaughting everything east of KC. Logged in today walked out of KC and he was just standing there close to FM zone in. I don't know if this helps but sharing my necro cap journey.

This is quite the camp if he is not up.

It took me 3 days of half-hearted camping to complete. My strategy was to clear everything in the east part of the zone until he popped. No pop until I logged into the game this morning. He was pathing from North to South, on the green part of the zone, close to the mud. Possibly a N-S Drolvarg is his PH but I can't say for certain.

got him at +600 -4100
top of hill near the ruins,
he was standing there when i found him

just kill everything, and again patience is your friend
spend 3 days until he pops

i was at 51 doing AA while waiting for him.
mobs are a mix of grey, green and light blue

good luck

Do yourself a favor.. check the bazaar for "a yellow whip" before you go running off to the Dreadlands. After slaughtering eastern Dreadlands for 3 hours with no luck, I camped to an alt in the bazaar and someone was selling the whip. Definitely a /selfbonk moment.

i camped all the drovargs in zone for 3-4 hours and the guy never popped, i'm going to have to agree with the post that mentioned this guy as a 10 hour thing. Unless his spawn is completely random and could spawn at any moment?

i took a full raid force today and wiped zone for 3 hours straight, and no pop. I'm pretty disappointed in sony, it makes it very hard for people to get this if they have a set time to play. guild thinks it would be easier to just suck it up and do necro 1.0 like everyone else, because even though this quest is better than 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 get alot better, so there is hope for us necros.

This guy spawned for me just east of the ruins fairly near the firiona Vie zone out. He was standing on the grass near the brown wasted land just waiting for me to kill him and he dropped the whip for the necro skullcap quest. I did have to camp him for awhile but it's not too bad if you don't try to stay there for like 10 hours straight and do nothing but kill drolvargs. Hell kill some drachnids too and make some money selling organs and silk, it will help pass the time. Whatever you do my fellow necros don't lose hope, you WILL get him eventually if you keep at it.

Like he said, just keep at it. He spawned for me after awhile. Don't just kill the couple of drolvargs that are roaming near the FV grassy area (there are few); go take out mobs to the west of the ruins also. I went to the hill northwest of the ruins (+780/-4100) and killed all the mobs that agro'd me (helped make more drolvargs spawn). Staying mostly on the hill, and occasionally running after a drolvarg or two off the hill, was a lot less tiring than running around looking for the drolvargs all over the zone, so this method was bareable. If I saw a couple drolvargs over in the grass to the east ('cause that's where he paths, all the way up to the skelly ruins), I made sure to kill them just incase his PH is a static mob.

Hope this helps you.

Okay. Yesterday a gnarling drolvarg dropped the whip for me near the big crater hole SE of the KC building. At about the location specified by another post, -550, -4550.

I had been using my 60 druid to track and was PLing a monk alt. The drolvarg was lb to my druid, not much in DL is lb to lvl 60. Never saw Wulfware Lonewolf in one week of checking in and out of zone. My advice take tracker around lvl 60 and kill all the higher drolvargs, the yellow whip is bound to drop for you also. Apparently, Wulfware Lonewolf has been discontinued by SOE or he was hiding, doesnt matter as whip drops off normal drolvarg.

Hope that helps someone.
Quest Completed !!!
# Jan 22 2003 at 2:46 PM Rating: Decent
I just completed this quest lastnite. I had the help of Ronald McDonald, Rip VanWinkle, my Taco Bell dog bobble head puppet, and Jack Frost. Went superbly well considering Rip slept the whole time :(

I hailed the Drolvarg guy and he said "Sup man?"
I said Nadda chump, gimmie the whip! He said, "Umm, no..." So we jumped him and commenced the beat down. I started tickling him while Ron stepped back and made some super size fries for the group to munch on since we were all completely high. Since the brutal tickling wasnt't working, the taco bell dog squirted fire sauce in his eyes and that made him extremely mad, so he bit the dogs head off ( ouch, I'll miss that dog)

I looked like we were gonna lose when Jack Frost just started nipping at his nose like a rabid woodchuck, the drolvarg was stunned!! I knelt down behind him and Rip finally woke up ran over and pushed him over me. HAha we won and Got this uber mystical weapon that I can't post, for fear the CIA will come and arrest me because of its hush hush situation and all.

Hope this helps

Flaxen Cord
# Mar 21 2002 at 6:48 AM Rating: Decent
In cabalis a hermit will give a flaxen hilt when hailed. a small hit to the iksar necros but that's ok. All iksar necros are curious about what it is and there has been much speculation about that also. Flaxen..Flaxen...*shrugs* perhaps it's related. especially with that faction of cabalis going up for killing him.

If anyone has any REAL information regarding the supposed "yellow whip" quest, please post it :) I'm 49 and have been carrying this whip around forever in the hopes that when I reach lvl 50 i'll be able to quest a nice bow or necklace. That said, the person who put up the post about the bow or necklace being given as a reward for this test seems to be full of poo. Nowhere have I been able to find any information on this fabled bow. Nor do they reply to the email address attached to thier post. I do find it somewhat exciting, however, that this seems to be an unsolved quest... not many of those around anymore.

DID IT

Ok, this quest Yields Amor's Longbow of torpor
Stats are as follows
45/57 3 str dex sta agil 20 to poison magic fire cold. Effect is TORPOR *lasts only 8 seconds, but heals none the less*.

Now for how to do it...YOU MUST be 50+.
That said...Tell Drolvarg teeth captain exactly this, "I have slain your brother" He will attack you, but only for 1 round.
After his attack, he will ask for the whip. IF YOU LEAVE HIS RANGE HE WILL ATTACK YOU AGAIN AND WONT STOP. So give him the whip or camp out. Once he has the whip he will heal you and award you a stringy cord. Now for the tough part...You need to charm THREE Ravishing drolvargs. Hand 1 of them the cord, he will hand you a glistening arch. Give the arch to the 2nd drolvarg and he will hand you a Readied Longbow. Hand the Readied Longbow to the last Drolvarg and you will be awarded a Regenerating stave. NONE have stats. dont get excited yet. Now take the Stave back to the captain and give it to him and tell him, "I have freed your brother" He will award you the bow. if he does not give you the bow, he will hand you a +13 str 9 ac necklace which is no drop. Bow is no drop as well. Neither magic, both lore. Bow can be used by all bow useable classes. Necklace is all all. Goodluck if u have any ?s send them to Matchspring@aol.com

ROFL, don't we all wish this quest was real = P

Hehe in fact i'm still ROFLMAO. But i don't think it should be removed...it's kinda fun(ny) to see what some people can cook up these days. I do wish a quest that uses the yellow whip would be discovered, but i'm also thinking that it might just be newbie give-away loot from a silly named mob...maybe verant just put it in the game to get us all excited about a quest when there really wasn't one = (

I do remember that i saw...
Your faction standing with Legion Of Cabilis has gotten better.
when i killed him

Oh well, keep looking everyone...if there really is a quest, i wanna know about it = P

ROFL That was a GIMP attempt to make everyone believe that, although I see you got some people. Procs Torpor? No. No weapon that you can quest for at level 50 Procs a level 60 Shaman heal. Do you even know the stats on Torpor? I doubt it. Quit playing around, that was just retarded.

I sincerely doubt you "did it". First of all none of the stuff you mention works to my 50+ character. The captain never gets mad, just sad, when you talk about his brother. Even when you quote "exactly" what you said. Here are some holes in your story. "He will attack you, but only for 1 round". Wait a minute. This isn't D&D! This is EverQuest! There ARE no rounds! What do you mean he'll attack you for one round? Are you telling me Verant has designed a mob that can switch aggro ON and OFF at will now? That's a first!

Charming three Ravishing Drolvargs - certainly you don't mean at the same time, as only one mob can be charmed at one time (unless I suppose you have three enchanters).

The other main holes in your quest are common sense.

1) You don't respond at that e-mail address ... hmmmm.

2) This is an immensely powerful weapon and the quest as you've described it is immensely easy. THAT'S certainly not like Verant at all!

3) NO one, anywhere else, no website of any kind, mentions this bow or this quest. You'd think something that easily done would be posted on every major EQ website (like the Wurmslayer quest or other similarly easy, high-yield quests).

Anyway, I just wish there was a way to appeal to this website's creator to remove bogus quest information like this, because it's gonna cost a lot of players a lot of time as they flock back into Kunark to try this out, only to get the same NOTHING as everyone else who tries it.

Errr... except for the poster of the quest, above.

If I'm wrong, sorry. Feel free to waste your... er, I mean, try it, yourself.

No but if everyone and their brother rates this post awefull it will eventually fall to where no one ever sees this garbage again.
RE: DID IT

Okay I rushed onto EQ to try this and it didn't work. I am lvl 52, have the yellow whip, have amiable faction with the Captain, and have turned in a pile of Drolv teeth to the guy. When I say the phrase "I have slain your brother" he simply responds by getting sad and telling you his brother is lost, and that he found dog hair in his tent so he thinks he's been captured by dogs. He responds in this way to any use of the word brother.

So there's more to this, or something I'm missing.

Wow! Nicely done! I've been dying to know what the result of all this yellow whip stuff truly is! A bow! (Woot, ranger drools)

So it looks like this quest requires a chanter for sure (for charming Ravishings).

Wonderful work. Glad to see people updating quests as they figure them out. I'm gonna begin my hunt for a helpful chanter now =)

Whip

I have two possible rumors to sperad about this whip, and hope anyone else can maybe enlighten the use of it further.

1) The whip identifies as flaxen cord, I believe. I think it might be tied in with the Captain's quest in Fironia Vie. He's the one who wants you to bring 4 canines to him (dropped by drolvargs). He talks about his brother being cursed, and he's mad as hell at drolvargs, and he even mentions something about flaxen drolvarg hair, if I remember correctly. Here you've got a nice weird drolvarg who drops something other than the canines (tied to the Captain), it's flaxen (tied to the Captain), and he's got a cursed brother (Wulfware Lonewolf sounds kind of cursey to me). See how this is all tied together kind of?

2) I've read in threads something about a very powerful longbow that may use this as a flaxen cord. Still it's all just rumors and I can't seem to find anything more about it anywhere (and I consider *here* to be my favorite source for quest news).

Anyway, ?? this quest has gone unsolved (or at least undisclosed by anyone) a LONG time is all I can say.

To add something to your theory:

1) Flaxen is another way of saying yellow. Books often describe characters with flaxen hair (aka - blonde)

2) Wulfware - sounds a bit like a werewolf.

Combine 1 & 2 and I begin to wonder if his brother is actually the Wulfware Lonewolf. Maybe his brother is a were-person and he only thinks he was killed. In reality he was just turned into a were-creature.
