These are used for a rather useless quest in S Qeynos, and a VERY nice quest in N Qeynos (Unvara Dekash) who gives you Gem-Inlaid Gauntlets for a set of 4 of them (so I hear, haven't tried yet)
These gauntlets are AC 8, dex +3, sta +3, wt 1, and all/all. Best for monks, obviously (compared to Treantfist with their 100 hour camp), but not bad for many other classes.
Alrite, I'm a paladin and have hunted them since level 22...these are all in all, jolly good fun...loot is good. Highest is 3pp w/ change, FS weapons, skins and other misc. writings. Split Paw Gloves, Gnoll Hide Lariat, Split Paw Hide Tunic, some necklace, this Split Paw Hide Belt, Dagger of Dropping and other stuffs...
Split Paw Gloves: 4AC, +3wis/dex, +2wis/dex (forgot), All/All I believe... Gnoll Hide Lariat: AC3, DMG3, Stun Effect, 1h slashin', good for rogues, stun, strafe, BS... Dagger of Dropping: 3dmg, 21/20dly, weaken effect, procs at *shrugs*

Posted:Apr 21 2000 at 10:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm a Druid in his 25th season. I kite two at once (mainly because it's the only spawn that people don't cripe about. First off, I'd like to say it's not easy soloing them, second you get groups of 6 that claim they own districts because they camp them, also these groups range from levels 24 to 30. If it takes 6 of you to kill one gnoll, let the soloers take a wandering one with no *****. I go into paw when there's a lot of people out there, if I can servive solo in and out of paw, MAYBE you should try easier kills instead of complaining about it. This is mainly in reguards to some dwarf warrior I came in conflict with, by the way, I COULD have KS'd your group if I REALLY wanted to seeing as you may have been higher level, but my DOT and DD already took almost half it's life as it was, THAT"S if I wanted to.
i'm a 24th Druid with 163 wisdom and i can kite, with snare DoT DD DD DD DD DD DD DD DD. these at 24 fairly easy, if they resist snare recast till it hits, DoT is almost never resisted, and DD is rarely resisted. These con RED and Yellow and i do them with ease...get a partner who is a caster for Ping Pong DD fun. and watch the EXP soar into the 20's...
NO MR? how about resist root five times in a row, and im lvl 28 wizza. If that happens you better have over 500hp, cause that is what you will lose, along with most of your mana. They havent killed me yet, but im very carefull, and will tp at the first sign of trubble. good xp but too much downtime. a group of 2 would be much faster and safer.
These guys spawn outside Splitpaw at the spires. They sometimes spawn in pairs, and rarely in group of 3, at each spawn. They do hit pretty hard for their level (60's). If I were a 25th paladin, I would group and kill, don't try to solo. They are tough little doggies.
They also drop Splitpaw Tunic (AC9 +10PR), and a Splitpaw tooth neclace (+5 CHA). Good place to camp at 25-30, as loot is good as is exp.
They don't cast magic, but they carry items that proc at times. The first is a the Gnoll Hid Lariat. It has a minor Lifetap proc. The second is the Dagger of Dropping. It procs a minor Weaken spell that can be annoying.
They have an attack delay comperable to a pet (about 30, maybe less) and they double hit for 55+, along with kicking and bashing.
They are not very fast. They can easily be outrun with SOW and, if you are not encumbered at all with decent agility, you might be able to outrun one without SOW.
Well as a paly they may abit hard to solo at your lvl. It sounds ez when the druid talk cause really they don't fight them much, they ensnare and dot and kite. Nothing wrong with that idea at all but it looks somewhat misleading to other classes. Kiting and facing yellow-red mobs is easier with druids in the open areas so be careful when you see the "hell they are easy, I soloed them at 20 and had no problems" you will usually find this to be a druid thats kiting them. Nothing at all againnst the druids, its just the facts, its much easier when you dont have to chance getting in close at all.
Note..the whip is proc stun..not life tap. Stun can be very dangerous..as NPC proc alot!!. Second...I would just like to add..that everyone hunting them now a days has it easy. These gnolls went throw 2 nerfs..because they were to powerful. So what you fight now are weaker incarnations. at 25th you might be able to take one of the weak ones..but the down time I don;t think would be worth it. Instead..get yourself a partner or 2..hell even a full group and kill them. Safer..easyer and faster. Happy hunting
Also have the Gloves, only non-planer wis gloves i heard, sells for a few hundred pp, also, the gnoll whip, AKA stun whip and the necklace, and some other body parts.
