I camped this guy for about 8 hours total. Spawned after the first kill of the PH at -508, 1020. Never spawned again. Then I started killing mobs a bit more north, and there he was. So keep in mind, he also spawns near -260, 850. There may be other locations as well. I suppose if I could track, i wouldnt have had this problem - but i read the post from Uuggerr and was just killing the PH in the vicinty of the -508, 1020 location.
Later, he also spawned at -375, 941. - this time he was roaming a little - didn't wait to see how far he roamed.
And he dropped the plate boot mold, so i am done with this camp!!!
Kill all Gaurdian of the groves you see... He will spawn @ -508 , +1020 EVERYTIME.
To solve the running, summoning, blinding issue. Get get in his face and beat him down while constantly hailing. He will not run. He will still blind you but its only for a few seconds, and just make sure you are lined up to keep hitting him while blinded.
He does not hit that hard.. low is 200, average is 400, high is 850. Thats to my leather wearing beasty with only 1800ac
You got the strat down, extactly. Earth pet, all the way.
I slow him, send in earth pet, it gets slowed but still casts. I do not cast any type of DD nor does the pet do enough melee to break root. I load it with dots, it tries to run and can't. The dots get me summoned but he forgets and goes back to killing the pet. Easy easy kill. Earth pet is the way to go. Pull him down between the goblins and the grove on that small land and you are good to go.
Killed him 10 times and got 5 boot patterns. 3 plate and 2 silk. Snare is the key. I used a necro to snare. Almost impossible to kill without it cause he runs away and summons, runs-summons- and he runs fast and sometimes along way off even out of sight. also memblurs himself so keeps switching targets. So keep him snared and slowed and he dies pretty fast. The necro only snared did not dot cause of the summoning stuff. Dont want the snaring toon to die.
Yes he has a static ph just like chef gudez does.....if you set up camp on the rock to the right of the ranger guy behind some he will be directly out in front almost to the outter edge accross the grove.
We have killed him 4- 6 times and he is ALWAYS at that spot.....so set up on that rock and you still want to clear the bears and other guardians of the grove because he will run fast and "warp" to other areas in the grove when he is up.
Snare him asap and he doesnt warp as far.
Not sure why that guy didn't want to tell you this (I do appreciate his guide on midnight) but the answer is yes.
can anyone confirm that the "a guardian of the grove" centaurs around Hemmet are actually the PH's for this guy? have been clearing these things, along with all the wolves and bears and a few grovewalkers for 6 hours now and have yet to see hide nor hair of Hesmire Farfflight.... have not seen him spawn once yet, this camp blows =/ i'd rather risk life n limb on mammoths, especially if his mold drop rate is anything like his spawn rate /bleh

I can confirm that some of the centaurs are Ph's for Hesmire. I am fairly sure which ones are PH's and which arn't. I am currently camping them and when I get what I need, I'll post all the info you need to drop him. I have a great strat for killing him and for spawning him. I'll post in about a week or so. In the meantime if you need arms, go read the post I made about Midnight in this zone. Good luck.
He can be a pain but he is stunnable. We just kept him locked down with an enchanter, druid and paladin stunning him and had very few problems with the snare/blind/running.
He spawns over in the grove by the Ranger spell vendor and the various Guardians of the Grove seem to be the PH'ers.
edit: I don't know where the Dev's confirmed it, but he did drop the leather boot mold for us. We killed him 4 times in 4-5 hours and he dropped the mold once.
I found him roaming inside the grove, after I had killed a number of centaurs. He cons indiff. He seems to move at > SoW speed, and I don't think that annul magic changed his run speed. When agroed, he runs to a distance, snares you with Longsight Leg Shot, blinds you with Longsight Blinding Shot, then runs randomly around the grove, either shooting you with Longsight Arrowflight or summoning you as he goes. You can end up with the whole Grove aggroed on you in this fashion.
