Guess they figured out the oversight. Haste is now included.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 02 2002 at 2:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This trinket, depending on how much haste it gives (I'm making a wild *** guess that it's the same as FBSS), beats ANYTHING and EVERYTHING a melee could put in the range slot.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 13 2002 at 2:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not to sound like one of those **** heads that always post "You are so stupid, learn to Read, its lore moron" just pointing out that it is lore, and that no Melee could possibly have 2.

Well, I must say this is really nice..Considering it does say SPEED on the name Im assuming it has haste. Chances are you wont get the chance to get one if you are Not in an Uber guild and 60..Even with Uber Guilds they have Loot Codes to where ..well, Is suppose to be where longest Members get Lootz First..but is more like Friends of the GUILD get lootz first. Anyhow, It will be up for sale soon, Cloak of Crystalline Waters was up for sale Very Fast after it came out, And on Povar server you see Cloak of Flames for sale quite a bit 60k+.Along with RBG,FBSS,etc. Its all about PP when you get everything you need for you Chara anyhow...Expect to see them soon on the market.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 02 2002 at 9:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Where does it say anything about haste? Guess I missed that part.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 31 2001 at 3:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the fact that you people are even comparing this to and idol of the thorned or a gorgan idol makes me laugh, price for this would be 20-25k easy,, it has 15 more ac then the idol of thorned, and has much much much beter stats , and i dont think they will sell near as much to they will be rare to buy, so 20k would be about the lowest you would see one sell for and even that would be cheap for such a nice range item
RE: whats wrong with you people
# Dec 31 2001 at 5:37 AM Rating: Default
You seriously think anyone would sell this thing??? Drops from a mob that looks to be raid-type, and probably only classes that can use will get to roll so the casters wouldn't just end up selling it.
Also to the post below that talks about idol of thorned getting kicked off the market for a while:
These are going to be sold so rarely, I doubt that they'd even bring the price down on Idol of the Thorned. (Grogan idol might, but not this)
RE: whats wrong with you people
# Jan 12 2002 at 12:35 PM Rating: Default
Yes, there are people who would sell it. Would they find many buyers easily? No, but I see people auction things like Cloak of Flames or Cowl of Mortality at those astronomical prices they command, and eventually they find somebody who will buy it or trade something for it. Would I sell this item? Of course not. But some of the people who are going to most easily come across one might not be so impressed by it, relative to their quality of gear.

Since you can only have one item haste effect on you at a time, the actual percentage of the haste on this would effect its value greatly. Anyone who is in the position to get this item will already be using some other haste item, be it an FBSS or CoF or whatever, at that level. If the haste is like 40% then this item might bump something else you wear for haste out of your equip in favor of other gear. If it is 16 haste or FBSS haste - and somebody is using a 40% haste item, the haste of the trinket is essentially wasted, and though its a nice RANGE item, it would then possibly be worth more in trade / cash than equipped...

So yes, all things being EQ, this will be auctioned by someone at some point hehe

PS: The idol of the thorned sucks unless you like sitting around in Droga all day or paying a small fortune for the afterthought of all gear - the range item. The Goranga Idol drops constantly and anyone who groups in ME for a few days will probably get one. Statistically, no it isnt better than Idol of Thorned, but then you pay quite a bit less or actually manage to get XP and level while hunting for one. And, there are various NO DROP range items and more selection in general for that slot for all classes with Luclin coming out... For all slots, really. With the exception of certain unique items, Luclin should drive prices down on all loot, particularly old world. Or at least provide some intermediary price steps (ie there are several more MNK suitable tunics out there now that wont make ppl forget the fungi tunic, but will give somebody an option who has 5-10kpp or 15kpp, but not 30kpp to spend). Idol of the Thorned is fine and dandy, but it isnt so vital a piece of gear that it will retain its old value now that there are other worthwhile options.

You dont think someone would sell this?
I have seen Othmir Prexus Totems for sale
(best range item for a druid), among other high Uber items...
People just want the pp..they do not care too much about the item itself.
Maybe right now, yes...no one will sell...Give it a couple months...
Anything that can be sold, WILL BE sold...
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 02 2002 at 4:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oh yeah it will sell BUT it will sell about as much as you see cloaks of flame, trak bp's ect.more than likley
Nice

Can you say that the price of the idol of the thorned is going to drop once a few of these get out on the market.

Idol of the Thorned
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM
AC: +10 Str: +7 Sta: +10
Weight: 4.0
Classes: All Classes
Races: All Races
Inventory Slot: Ranged Weapon

Shiny Trinket of Speed
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM
AC: +25 Str: +15 Sta: +10 Dex: +10 HP: +25
Weight: 0.1
Classes: Warrior Rogue Monk Bard Shadowknight Paladin Ranger Beastlord
Races: All Races
Inventory Slot: Ranged Weapon

No question that this owns the idol. The idol has been selling for 6k - 10k lately I have to guess that this will sell for at least 15k.

I have the idol on my monk and the 4.0 weight is the sacrafice I had to make for it. this is only 0.1, this rocks

You obviously failed to see where this droped. Its not gonna touch Idol of the thorned's value.

This particular item might not have a gigantic impact (seeing as how it drops off a named in Ssraezsha) but Luclin has introduced a variety of good RANGE slot items that are gonna compete with the Idol of Thorned. I would rather have a Goranga Idol (low weight, common in ME, and free) than pay out the **** for an Idol of Thorned or sit in Droga forever to get one...
Your faction with Brood of Di'Zok cannot get better!

Ahh, you miss all the wonderful faction hits from camping in Droga. You need about 2000 (never hit a sarnak) to 4000 (max negative faction with sarnaks) to get the nice quest items in Chardok. Should take about 4-7 evenings in Droga (and you may as well look for an idol of the thorned while you are there) to get to the desired faction with DiZok for your rings (or the spirit wracked cords).
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 29 2001 at 4:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is a wonderful item....would LOVE to have this on my monk...Wow those stats are nice, high ac/str/sta/dex plus a few hp. Although would rather see agi instead of dex but what yah gonna do, this item is still awesome.

Or maybe its called shiny trinket of speed because it gives 41% haste.

ok, bye

Dex doesnt determine whether you hit more. It determines chances of procing, critical hitting, etc. Str makes you hit harder, and increases you Attack. That makes you hit more.
RE:
# Dec 29 2001 at 4:28 PM Rating: Default
From what I've been able to tell, STR raises your atk (which increases hit probability) and increases the maximum amount that you can do with each hit. Apparently, dex effects how much each hit does, decreasing the number of minimum damage hits. I have also noticed, as a rogue, that when I have my Dex buffed up, I min on my backstabs far less often.

Actually, Rorroh was exactly right in his post above regarding Dex. Dex increases Crippling and Critical hits, and also increases weapons process'.
Str increases your attack skill thus letting you hit for more.
Your probability of succesful attack is determined by a combination of Attack rating and offense skill and a (dice roll?) probabilty check whether you penetrate the mobs ac or not.
This coming from a warrior maybe dex affects rogues differently but this is what I know.
If you want to test it and you can read eqlogs, simply fight with and with out dex buffs and refer and check each log afterwards. You should see quite a bit of difference in weapon proc's ,crips, and crits when your Dex is 150 or more.
Also to test the str difference have a chanter cast disempower on you till your str = your current stone weight and try to hit him then. You should notice that you can still hit but you will less and will hit with much less impact then when at a higher strength. Not saying everything here is exact cause there are quite a few checks that are done but this is a pretty accurate guideline for this discussion.

dex affects the succes of double and dual attack success
combat for warriors by the time you get them both goes like this

primary attack roll
check for double attack if successful then roll to attack
dual wield check roll, if successful then roll to attack with secondary weapon
if dual was successful then roll for double attack on secondary, if successfull, roll to attack.

dex indirectly does help you attack more.
I don't get the name...
# Dec 28 2001 at 6:05 PM Rating: Default
Granted it's WAY cool, but why's it called a Shiny Trinket of SPEED? No haste, no agi, I don't get it.

A better name would be Godlike Trinket of Tanking.

It's got haste.
Why these classes?
# Dec 28 2001 at 5:50 PM Rating: Decent
Shiny Trinket of Speed, eh? What, are only Warriors, Rogues, Monks, Bards, Shadowknights, Paladins, Rangers, and Beastlords impressed by shiny things? Granted, the only classes left out here are pure casters and Shamans and there is no INT/WIZ/Mana on this item, but why not make it All/All and let the caster's decide? "Speed" can be good for all :)

HEY! What about clerics and druids? they sometimes just jump right in at the end of a fight for some fun! i've played my cleric to 25, and while i admit clerics shouldn't go main melee, they could use it too, especially since when they drop a GHeal or CHeal the mob gets pi$$ed big time.

Haha! True but I gotta say this *really* ought to be No-Drop. Nah, it isn't like folks are going to be swapping em for plat but man this item has some nice qualities for a ranged slot trinket. Rare as heck I imagine but still.

I do love the Lore tag on it though...

I decided to skip several posts to make my comment, so if I'm repeating someone else don't freak. Personally I think this is a great item for rogues/ bst/ sk's/ pallies/ bards/ etc.
Secondly, I wanted to comment on what a person said earlier about uber guilds and people making twinks. I've played this game since it started. I came over from Gemstone, if anyone remembers that game, because of the appeal of everquest. I've gone through several different characters all to level 65 and have landed on a bst. I am in a PoTime/ GoD capable guild, with very nice gear, etc. I chose to play from the start. I pay my $12 a month to enjoy the fellowship I get from my friends. That being said, should I judge someone because they want to skip the early process or because they want to "cheat" and make a great twink to start the game with? In my opinion I think if that person pays their $12 a month then they should be able to spend it however they want. If buying platinum for a video game to twink out their character makes them happy, then so be it. Why do you care if that person likes to play games like that? I always cheat on games myself. I've never played Mortal Kombat without having the fatality cheat codes nearby, etc. I swear to christ people take this game way too seriously. It's not life. Get over it if someone wants to take the easy road and benefit from it. You can pride yourself over and over for "working" at leveling your character and getting him/ her gear, but at the end of the day, it's still a video game, and reguardless of how great your accomplishment, when everquest becomes outdated and ends, your accomplishments go with it. So stop ******** about how other people choose to have fun and enjoy their time and just play the damn game.
