Quest dead?

I've recently tried this quest as a 47 bard, seeing that it would be a pretty easy quest for a decent mid-level sword, or maybe to sell (I spent at least 9 hours here, much to the chagrin and ire of my g/f). However after locating Elisah Astari standing atop of his rock...I used the bait and zone technique to get him off of the rock and into level ground. After rezoning, I "hail"-ed him, and handed him the note...he immediately dissappeared, and Tergus did NOT spawn. I can say this with complete conviction on three accounts. 1.) Tergus did not spawn where Elisah stood when I handed Elisah the note. 2.) Tergus did not spawn on my second attempt at "hail"-ing Elisah on his rock. I had my song to see invisible playing exclusively with the Amplification song, just for s&gs. There is a small portion of the stone on which Elisah stands(and in a lot of large rocks) wehre you can "peer" inside, so to speak, it's assumably some sort of little known bug, but whatever the case may be, there was no Tergus inside the rock. 3.) He of course would not show up on track because of his invisibility(?), but I did a very thourough "walkabout" of the entire TS zone(under water too! With my song of see invis going with amplification and breath song).
There is a shame in this being a dead quest, it is a very interesting blade for my level.
The last forum entry to this quest was posted in July of 2004 which leads me to believe that either these forums are a waste of time past 2004 or this quest has been knocked off the maps of the game and not updated on this site.
If I am mistaken, and people not only read these forums, but actually have done the quest in the past month or two...I would like just a simple confirmation either here or at my e-mail (bstensland2000@yahoo.com). Thanks, hope this was useful and not a waste of time.

he spawned in the rock for me, so make a hotbutton /tar elis and click until you have him targeted. fire an arrow and train him to zone. snare him there if you can, zoneout and back in. do the turn in, zone out again. zone in, and Tergus is there in a minute or two, as others have posted. He was invis when I began attacking him, not sure if he ever drops invis. I didn't hail or talk to him.

Faction hits...
after turn-in to Elisiah:
+ Eye of Seru
+ Seru
- Hand of Seru
- Heart of Seru
- Haven Smugglers
- Validus Custodus
- Magus Conlegium

after slaying Tergus:
+ Validus Custodus
+ Coterie of the Eternal Night
+ Heart of Seru
+ Shoulders of Seru
- Nathyn Illuminious

after hand-in to Erus:
+ Eye of Seru
+ Seru
- Hand of Seru
- Heart of Seru
- Haven Smugglers
- Validus Custodus
- Magus Conlegium

Precisions
# Jun 08 2003 at 1:23 PM Rating: Good
Thanks much for the guide, Elroy.

Here are some precisions from my experience today.

I handed in the note to Elisah Astari. I had See Invisible buff, however I didnt see Tergus anywhere. I clipped through rocks and looked around all over the place and he was nowhere to be found.

So I zoned to Scarlet Desert and upon zoning back there he was. Tergus is a human, so don't look for a tro jeg looking creature. He will attack once you talk to him.

I soloed him as a level 56 Warrior AC ~1030 and HP round 4k with the previous day's XP group buffs, I spent a good 30 min running to Sanctus Seru and Twilight Sea, and the Virtue buff didn't fade :)

Do not underestimate this guy ! He was lightblue to me and he took me down 2k hp. He did cast Lifetap 4 times, and the first one early during the fight. I did use the charge discipline when he was at 25 pct, but he still managed to do 2 lifetaps before dying.

I haven't tested the value of this blade in terms o f aggro yet, what I can say though is it looks like a old world long sword (nothing special), and it makes the Malo particle effect I believe (green bubbles) when it procs.

YALP Parser Info :

Total Damage dealt TO Tergus (i.e. HP): 3679 (28.15 DPS)

Tergus Raslin Stats:
Total Damage 2038 (Punch 1238 Lifetaps x4 800)
Min Dmg 19
Max Dmg 97
Avg Dmg 37

"what I can say though is it looks like a old world long sword (nothing special), "

Actually it looks like a velious era Warsword, like a Polished Velium Warsword or something like that.

Old World Longswords look like the Rusty Longswords well all loved when they dropped off of our first or second decaying skeleton kills waaaay back in the day.

This is definatly a nice looking sword. Just did the quest tonight for my ranger. 4-23-04. The sword when weilded appears to be very clean cut, and have very diffinative lines. My ranger also weilds a black acrylic long sword, and graphic wise, this sword is better detail, though simple. I get lots of tells with "Link Sword Please".

Haven't used it yet against critters though, but at least it plesant to look at.
quest info
# Mar 17 2003 at 10:56 AM Rating: Excellent
Info you can use regarding questing this sword. (from a warriors perspective who could care less about blood grooves)

1: Quest begins in Sanctus Seru with Erus Ereptor Yuka.
Erus Ereptor Yuka can be found in the NE square pyramid looking building past the pools in Santucs. The entrance has an EYE over the door. Take a left in front of the stairs and you will see him.
Text to say to him:
Hail him next say “'What diagrams”, and finally “escaping, “ You will get the Reassignment Orders.

2: get to Twilight your best way. If you TL or get ported into TS, you will head WEST to the scarlet desert zone. To the LEFT of the SD entrance is a Trog camp (alien dudes green to lvl 53)
You will see Elisah Astari at the top of the Large Rock LEFT of the Fire pit at the Trog camp. (he is buggy and sometimes pops in the rock)

3: If you have SEE Invis cast on you: Give the orders to Elisah Astari. He will despawn and Tergus Raslin' will spawn immediately behind the rock you are standing on.

If you DON’T have see invis: Hand in orders then zone over to SD, then immediately zone back into TS, Tergus Raslin' will be near the zone line.
Hail him and say “what work” He will attack immediately.

4: Tergus Raslin' cons Blue to lvl 53 warrior. Tough solo at 940 AC unbuffed and average gear.
Hardest hit was for 91, but low 40s mostly. Easy fight UNTIL he dropped below 25%
I used Evasive disc not sure of how bad he would hit. Mistake. Probably better to have used charge when he was 20%. He procd that 200 pt life tap 4 times in a row at less than 20%. Before that I was still at 85% Hps.

When is dead, loot shattered blade(no other loot not even coin) then return to Erus Ereptor Yuka for turn in and your new sword. The proc on the sword is great for agro.

With a pocket druid or fellow guild friend, this can be done in about an hour. I was able to get the quest at indifferent.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.
Blood grooves
# Jun 15 2002 at 4:10 PM Rating: Excellent
The depression in the middle of a blade is not a "blood groove" It is called a Fuller It is used to lighten up a blade and also gives it a bit more spring so less chance of bending or breaking. Yes if you stab something the blood would flow down the easiest path ( the fuller in this case) but that would only happen to any great extent on the withdraw. As there is little bleeding from an initial stab wound. As the skin and organs form a suction around the blade or intruding item. So drawing out a blade without a fuller is the same difficulty at one with a fuller. I do agree it makes a blade more pleasing to the eye. But its there for more practical purposes ) Just thought to clear that up

He knows because he's obviously a fan of swords and blades. And just because he knows what a fuller is and what it's purpose on a blade is, doesn't make him a freak. I would call that educated. Congrats, Taeken, on taking the time to try to educate those that don't know. Unfortunately, there are always those that don't want to learn.

...looks exactly like a Large Dragonbone Shard / Drakkel Forged Bastardsword when equipped. A little disappointing; I would have liked a Luclin model. It looks nothing like the icon.

As for Tergus - blue to 53 Ranger. I used classic root and shoot on him. Open with Ensnare (lasted the whole fight), then back off and Root him. Stacked DoTs, a bunch of Tolans arrows, and a couple Firestrikes and it's all over. He only resisted one Root out of all that.

I chose not to melee him at all. He managed one Lifetap after the resisted Root. He procs it a LOT in straight up melee.

Nice weap when I tank or Fearkite.
Nice blade but a little different now.

I saw this quest yesterday morning at about 12:00 Pst. By 3:30 Pst the blade was mine and I was trying it out. The blade hits well not great (it replaced a Centi warhammer,I know the Centi is a much better weapon but, being a tank I want to hold aggro, and, quicker attacks and a proc will help me do that now.) And the one thing I noticed is a Change in the Damage. When I equipped it it gave me a +4 Damage bonus. Which makes it just that much better. I have hade strings of hits ranging from 15 to 40 with it and my Off hand "Jagged Blade of Mourning" which is a 12 25 weapon as well.

The mob conned yelllow to me at 38. I do think there is a problem with the quest's second hail and turn in (it still works but you just give it to him and then he responds to you). Be sure you bring a tracker with you to help you out. All in all VERY easy and fun with a decent reward. If you like to quest for your weapons the do it you wont be disapointed.

I got this weapon the other day, and it's awesome! I'm at lvl 25 so the proc doesn't work yet but it was well worth questing for. I had a lvl 53wizzy friend help me get it. This would be a fantastic pvp weapon due to the fact that it is no drop.

People should have bags in all slots on Rallos Zek. If you are disarmed the weapon fall to the first open inventory slot where it can be looted. If you have all bags the weapon drops in a bag and can't be looted. No drop can never be looted even if it's in a open inventory(DUH!!).

I did this quest the other night and it is quite fun. It is a great quest because it involves triggered mobs. So NO WAITING!!! And the weapon does taunt very well. At 53 using this and a Centi LS I taunt like no other. I recommend this quest to anyone who needs a good taunter and can't afford to buy a weapon. Good Hunting All.

Tergus
# Jan 10 2002 at 2:11 PM Rating: Good
Got this blade for my 35 rogue last night, and did the quest because there was no information that I could find to indicate what level Tergus is. I tried the quest once, turned in the note, but had no tracker with me and never found Tergus to kill him, so I enlisted the help of a 58 druid in my guild to come along and track him down for me. Good thing I did to, cause he was blue at 58, and the turn in mob was blue at 54 (lvl of the shammy friend that came along the first time just in case he was a toughy). Blood curdling red at 35 basically is what I'm saying here. I don't know yet if it procs or not, but if you want it, take at least one high level friend with you.

FYI, for anyone wanting to do the quest, if you climb up on the rock that the turn in NPC is on, and look over to your left, past the Scarlet desert zone, you can kinda see a little camp. He spawned in that direction approx 2-3 minutes after I turned in the note

I'm not sure it may just make an ok offhander for a ranger/bard/rogue kinda depends on what level it really takes to kill this vampire Tergus guy heck my 45 rogue doesn't have anything for offhand with better stats than this and there are worse aggro weapons out there. But still it's a really nice mainhand slasher for classes that want the taunt, even if it doesn't proc for you, it's no lammy but it's not exactly in the same catagory as a mino axe either. It also sounds like something smaller guilds or even a group of friends could go collect for their melees without TOO much trouble.

RE: Ahh
# Dec 14 2001 at 8:24 AM Rating: Default
Sting is an elven knife. Bilbo/Frodo uses it as a sword because hobbits are obviously smaller and it would fuction more as a sword for them. It's slender, and gleams with a pale bluish light. This thingy is some ill-conceived piece of junk you'd see Xena wielding :P try pulling that butter-knife outta someone's gut once you've stuck them with it and the wound closes around the thinner area of the blade near the hilt. Hehe..you'd have to practically put your foot on their chest and push off to get it out :(

I haven't seen this sword in-game, but someone said it looks like the icon. In the icon, there is a significantly sized blood-groove. If that is on the in-game model, then there will be no problem removing it from someone's gut. :)

Blood-grooves are cool, you know you like 'em...you know you want one for every weapon you own...come on, I'll sell ya one for 5kpp.../grin

Sorry, blood grooves are a myth. Any blade that goes into someone doesn't need a blood groove to get it back out, trust me. It just pulls out clean unless the blade is notched or caught in a bone.

What you are seeing is a fuller...used to stiffen the blade, nothing more. Works well too...try a longsword with and without a fuller and there is a BIG difference. Talk to any blacksmith, they will tell you. Or any museum curator who deals in blades, ditto.

Blood grooves are for bad fantasy authors, not for real people. And EQ is definitely real, right? right?.....I can't hear you....

RE: Ahh
# Apr 18 2002 at 7:49 PM Rating: Default
Don't know if you would call it a blood groove but the chinese army uses a bayonet that is designed to keep blood pooring freely from a wound, so even if you survived the stab, you would end up bleeding to death.
RE: Ahh
# Jul 02 2002 at 12:02 AM Rating: Decent
Bleeding from a wound is determined by what type of anatomy has been injured, the extent of the injury, and the ability of the individual's blood to clot. Why a shallow groove alongside a blade would affect any of these factors is beyond my knowledge. Respectfully.

I am seriously considering questing this wep for a couple of reasons
1. Wolf form is very KOS on Luclin so makes it difficult to use my Lupine Dagger and am too cheap/poor to go out and buy something better.
2. The only thing time I would use this would be while fear kiting and hence would have no need to worry about agro.
3. I think it looks cool, hopefully looks as good wielded as the icon does, even if like someone else posted, the blade style is impractical

This isn't a matter of downsizing people. This is a matter of twinking idiots to such an extent that they never have to learn how to fight, how to group, how to use their skills or what their skills are. I'm in favor of all the uber loot being no drop. Then the twinkies will have to EARN their equipment and the tradecrafts will come back to life again.

RE: bah
# Apr 27 2002 at 4:53 PM Rating: Good
All twinks of higher players EARN what they have. The player behind the twinks has earned the right to use the equipment in any fasion he wants. He kills, buys, or quests the same items everyone else does, why can he not use the items as he wants? For example, I got a Greenmist for my level 20 SK. Excellent weapon for him and compliments the rest of his gear. *I* did the quest and earned it, so *I* will use it in whatever way I want and on any charactor I want. Yes, the greenmist is no drop and is now weilded by a level 20 SK.. just drag SK along on the quest and do it. In some ways this type of twinking is even more fun because it is more challenging trying to keep a baby charactor alive to finish the quest. I have fun, I pay my money each month to have FUN.

I have found a problem with twinking.. and i think i've realized why so many people hate it.. i'm just sorry to say i contributed to it. My brother recently started eq, so to help out his new gnome warrior (don't laugh.. he insisted =P) I got him a set of crafted, a wakisazi of the frozen skies, and a ssoy. Now these aren't amazing items really.. pretty standard twinkage is what i was thinking. BUT what i didn't realize is that to someone completely new to the game, it skews their whole percepttion. He's complaining now that he needs to upgrade his stuff (at level 20)... he's having trouble in groups (since he could solo so well with that gear early on)... and over all i think i made a bad player out of him because of it. So twinking your own characters? that's cool.. you've already learned enough about the game. Don't ruin EQ for newbies by overtwinking them tho.

No problem at all......As long as those 'Uber' campers who constantly farm this stuff have the common courtesy to allow those who have not already gotten 5 of these for their freinds get in, and get a chance. Without waiting until 4AM to do so.

(As much as I hated all these No-Drop's at the start of Luclin, I really see the point now. You want to camp this for your 10th lvl Twink?? You've got to get him here first!)
