i just traded mine soon as i got it from my guild for a centi short sword better for my warrior class in the 1hs department :) I will eventually duall weild a centi war ham for the blunt exp
I just recieved this weapon for dancing for some guy in Rivervale, I am only lvl 9 and it kicks butt for my level. I noticed it says recomended lvl 40 so I may be using this weapon for a long time, I saved 230pp in this deal :)
The picks aren't nerfed. I spent about three hours there mining acrylia from the grimlings, and collected about a dozen of these in the process. The grimlings just don't show as carrying them, is all. Won't know till you turn one upside down and shake him....after cutting off his arms and legs, of course. Watch the teeth tho. Some of them are rabid.
I love this weapon. First picked one up off a vendor for about 1pp 6 gold. Gave it to my 16 rogue, was amazed how much damage they could cause backstabbing with it at that level. Rogue went from level 16 to 26 faster than any of my other characters. Had some fun in the 20s wielding this in the rogue's main hand, applying poisons to it and wielding a WoFS in the offhand which procs a lot with the high rogue dexterity. Aggro management was fine, just rotated weapons, ducked in and out of combat. Have now acquired the pick for my other characters. Recommend it to anyone.
I just bought this weapon for 50pp and this sucker rocks! I tried a backstabb on a spiderling to see what this thing could do (just for the heck of it) and I plastered it for 81 points of damage! I'm only a 15th lvl rogue, but that's gonna only go up as I gain levels. I'm completely amazed that this isn't a magical weapon! What else does this pick need to do to be magical? Stand up and do the Funky Macarena?! I'm gonna be using this for quite some time (even if it isn't magical...)
Im a lvl 25 rogue and i BS for 125 max..with the that Pick. I must say i love this weapon becuase it has a slow delay and for my lvl to be BS'ing that high is AWSOME Lol. I would recomend any rogue to buy this weapon. Even though its not magical it still comes in handy when a High BS is needed ( all the time lol).
Seems to also serve as a weak light source (about the same as a fire beetle eye.)
I agree with one of the prior posts: this item is incredibly lightweight, has +3 sv disease mod, serves as a light source -- how the heck can it *not* be a magic item? =(
I was shopping in Shadow Haven - looking for cooking supplies when what to my wondering eyes did appear but this light weapon. 2pp the vendor said. I plunked my coins on the bar and the weapon was mine. Better stats than my Crystallized Sword. Non Magic but so what. I got other weapons I carry that are magic. 2pp - cheaper than bronze.
Just got one last nite. My 31 rogue so far has had a high backstab of 165 with this thing. My Crystal Grinder BS max has been 116. I'll keep the CG for now since the SGMP is not magic. But how many creatures at my level are magic only to hit? I haven't found any so far. If I do I will switch back to the CG in my main and Serrated Bone Dirk in my secondary.
And before any says it: THIS IS NOT A MONK WEAPON!!!!!
Crystalline Spear is drop off of Lady Vox, a rather difficult dragon, and has NO Stats on, and apart from it being magical, and the pick not, you're getting a darn good deal with this pick.
I'm wondering how these cannot be MAGIC items. Without jumping down my throat for being a dumbass, how does a weapon have a save and have such a low dly/low weight (0.4) and not be a magic item. Seems kinda unusual to me. I think they should make it LORE and stick MAGIC on there.
I got one of these in EC yesterday and immediately tested it out on spiders and bears with backstabs for 150 to 181 unbuffed!! To it to the Overthere on some bigger mobs and got anywhere from 33 to 181 points over about 3 hours.
The weapon you get in return is a 2HS pick with the same graphic. Did the quest with my pali. Stats blow, no drop, ugly 2 hander, and you loose 4 picks. I currently have about 30 of these spread over 4 chars. I farm the mines for the acrylia ( bite my *** dr00ds!!) I save these for when I sell other stuff in EC and give them to noobs in the tunnel. They drop 1 out of of every 25-35 Grimlings. My warrior and Rogue each duel wield them also. Very few low lvl mobs are "magic only" Air elementals in EC and Ghouls in Oasis are a couple to note. GL to those of you who want on (or 2) of these. A deffinate must-have!
is the listed dmg bonus factored in for rogue backstabs? if it is, this would make for some pretty wicked backstabs, if not... well it would still be a pretty decent rogue piercer, but not for the lvl to attain.
Damage bonus is added after BS is calculated. And it is a very good piercer for the level to attain, which is not 40. I was there trying to get small pieces of Acrylia with my 48 rogue and 40 cleric. all the grimlings were blue to Cleric, and green to Light blue to Rogue. So they are in the 33-35 range. A good group of low to mid 30's should easily be able to get this item, very small agro range single pulls are easy. And dont forget the highest damage piercer for rogues is only 15 damage. So unless you are twinked or BUY a better weapon (like I had to), this is your best bet to raise your backstab a considerable amount. I was still using the Burning Rapier up to about 38 when I bought a Slime, just to get those extra points, thena week later bought a TR war spear which I'll probably use till I get my RB. Slimes are reletively cheap, definatley a good buy if you are on a budget, but if you want to earn one yourself in the low 30's this is a very good choice.
Also these are NOT common, i fought there for about 10 hours and got 1.
This is part of a quest in Katta Castellum. The quest is to turn in 4 of these mining picks, although I can't remember who the quest giver is at the moment. I believe he is in or near the gnome area.
Although most items are getting labeled as common, due to the fact that Luclin has only been out such a short time, this item is indeed very common. In about 2 hours of hunting in the various mines located in the zone, our small party recovered about 15-20 of them. The specific MOB is called a Grimling OreFinder. They only sell for a paltry amount to vendors - so I suggest ya give em out to newbie BST characters. :P
