i got one the other night, and i stopped using it less than a day later cause i got another range slot item that was no drop, stats:

It sure is! Price of Idol of the Thorned has dropped several k on Tunare in the past month. Unless you desperatly need the str from IoT, this is a much better value.
if it's up this quick, it must not be too rare. this looks to become a staple melee item. It doesn't have the disadvantage of most range slot items used by melees -- it can't be thrown. Hmm...actually, scratch that "melee" qualifier -- with those stats, casters are going to willing to drop 2 or 3 int/wis for this. Lore, not really great for people at the level to obtain, so this should be relatively cheap. What do you all think about 1000pp as a likely price?

Look at the AC on this thing. If it had 2 or 3 AC, then maybe 1kpp. But at 8 AC you're looking at possibly upwards of 5kpp. More if they do wind up being rare. Remember that at the level you need to be to attain this, an 8 AC boost can cost you 8kpp+ (depending on what gear you have).
as of march 5 they are worth about 500pp, and not worth a penny more (because of drop rate)
Fortunatly, these drop like candy. They drop off, you guessed it, Gorangas (I think that's what they were called: big red humanoid mobs at the Dawnshroud/Madien's Eye zone, ME side) in the Madien's Eye. After killin' and a' maimin' there for a couple of hours tonight, three dropped, along with two of those nifty 12/23 5ac 2str clubs.
The mobs have a wide level range, from 48ish to 55, and possibly higher. They, to my knowledge, don't summon, or our wizard would have been toast. They hit somewhere in the mid 100s, at a medium pace.
These are wonderful, easy for a pickup sixer to get, and very very worth the trip.

I beg to differ I just spent well over 6 hours killin these stupid beasties and only saw one of these things drop. The drop rate may have been high at launch I assure you these things drop way to rarely to be called candy.

Mini-Idol of thorned, wonder what lvl the mob is who drops this...

These drop off Goranga's in The Maiden's Eye. They seem to be mostly in the low 50s. There were a few that were level 56 (Seers) and 1 that conned even to me at 58. However the 2 idols that we got dropped off of the lower level garonga's, unfortunetly I can't remember if they came from the gatherer's, scouts, or... errr the other class. Hunt around the zone line from Dawnshroud in ME though and you'll pick one up within an hour or so probably (until of course VI nerfs the drop rate like the do after every new expansion....)
