Sadly, it's only good until the proc starts to work... Kinda ironic. Not to say that it isn't good, but by then you can usually afford a better weapon. I used my until I was about 23, and I was sad to see the proc go, but there was so much better stuff out there. An almost 4 ratio is pretty sad nowadays.
i have this on my 28 BL and let me tell you all, this weapon is great! he hits for about 13-17 every time and with 135 dex, the proc is quite often. i use this and a walrus tooth when fighting blue mobs. i still use ulaks though. i would really reccomend this weapon to a rogue or another class with high dex.
I was in Najena owning all at 49 (rogue) when I stumbled across this evil wench. I was at 1/2 life and didn't think to con her before getting too close (everything else in there was green to me, why should she have been any different?). Turns out she was a dark blue and one bad inkie. She was peircing me for 80+ and bs'd me for 225. Needless to say I got owned *hangs head in shame*. I am going back with a druid friend for some quick heals and gonna teach her a lesson.

Proc on this agros pretty heavily. But, I love the effect, especially when it hits when the mob is running.
I have a 22 Rogue with about 115 Dex, and in a lucky fight this will proc 2-3 times. Kinda sucks cause it grabs all the attention, but 3x 20DD's and 3x30DOTS puts a mob down pretty fast.
If you give an item to a creature that isnt no drop or summmoned the creature will drop it if it is killed just to let you know, i used to give little aviak egrets all the copper on me and watch a newb loot it and wonder why he weighs soooo much, lol
i use this as a offhand weapon for my beastlord. main hand is a fireclaw talon. between my pet and my 2 proccing weapons at lv 22 even mobs drop fast and i can still solo yellows and retain near 1/2 life. not bad for a leather class fighter. it is hard to break aggro though with all the procs i may change one of them out if i start to die from aggro. 115 dex and this seem to proc at least once a combat on the average sometimes go 3 or 4 combats without a proc and all of a sudden it wont stop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spell cast on you: You feel poison course through your veins. Spell cast on someone: Soandso looks pained. Spell fades: The poison wears off.
The Widowmistress is 36-40 rogue and upon first attempt to solo her as a lvl 45 necromancer, she killed me... I tried the standard darkness, pet, dot, nuke strategy... she killed pet and came after me. Revised strategy and soloed her easily... New strategy... Have pet on standby, have Harmshield on standby, root, dot stack (not poison or scourge because the DD can break root), darkness, sit and med until she breaks root, root again... watch life go way down, send pet in when she's below half... Loot drops.
This strategy is for Necromancers, other groups attempt at your own risk.
Um... if it was the stiletto of the bloodclaw you wanted, could have saved yourself some trouble and gone after the much easier to defeat Drelzna. I got mine off her today.
I was in this zone to get last item for my ghoulbane this morning (yay me got ghoulbane) A lvl 23 rouge decided to help me and when in there the rouge saw The Widowmistress and logged in his lvl 51 cleric and we killed her. She Dropped 2 Stiletto of the Bloodclaw's (yes 2 for 1 kill) so we got one each heheh :)

i have had this weaponf for a few levles and the dot effect rarely works for me past the initial 20pts. somtimes i see another 6 or 7 points but more often than not it is just the 20pt (still good, but far cry from the 50pts listed previously)
My friend and I went in after it for my rogue.....I am a 26 ShadowKnight and my Friend is a 31 Warrior.....we THOUGHT the WidowMistress was 30 but She conned red to my friend so she is obviously lvl 35 at LEAST.....She is a rogue with dual wield, double attack, and Apply Poison....she rapped us....I consider myself lucky to not have seen her backstab....hope this helps

Posted:Jun 10 2001 at 5:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) she isnt even close to 35. we had a group of 5 lvl 32 to 35. she was red to us all. she had us all bending over and grabbing our ankles. we went back though with a 52 necro for some pay back. stiletto is nice, but is it really worth 200pp?
Drelzna does drop this. My Cleric goes into Najena just for fun every once in a while to beat up all the dark elves and make me feel special. The first time I killed Drelzna she dropped it and I got myself a nice item for my beastlord. She was extremely easy to my cleric at lvl 41. She is a shadow knight and harm touches. I'm not sure if it was her but one of the named DEs in Najena can do multiple harm touches in one battle. They've done it do me on 2 seperate affairs and the same happened to a guildy of mine. Not fair if you ask me. This happen to anyone else?
Same thing happened to me in there. Against Drelzna as well. She opened with a HT on me. I beat on her a bit and then I darked her. I ran toward the entrance to find an area where I had more room to fearkite her. I got to my area and got staged. Darkness wore off and I expected her to be hot on my tail. She wasn't. She got her pathing messed up and couldn't follow me. As soon as I re-engaged her, she hit me with another HT. cheater. Luckily I still dropped her, but did take more damage than I though I would because of the double HTs.
As for Widowmistress, she is tough and a definite undercon IMO. I tried her solo as a 42 SK and I BARELY beat her. She was pretty MR. Had trouble keeping both fear and darkness up at the same time. I had to run the 1st time. Luckily I had Jboots effect still up. Second time I took the time to be careful and stay away from her when I didn't have her darked. That went much better and she fell in the end, but it was still nerve-wracking. Got the claw from her, not from Drelzna. IIRC she dropped Earring of Disease Reflection for me. Anyway it's a fun dungeon and sadly underused.

My guess is that a higher lvl person wanted to give away a weapon but in such a way so that the person getting it "earned" it. If you give an item (or money for that matter) to a mob, as long as its not NO DROP, then the mob will have it on its corpse when its killed. Done it many times where i had a nice item, or some extra cash, that i did not need but did not want someone who just sits and begs to get it.
While some items will show up on the mob's corpse if you give to them, money is one item that will NOT show up on the mob. Any money you give to a mob has effectively been destroyed.
Any nodrop item given to a mob is effectively destroyed.
If you give a weapon to a mob that already has a weapon, the new one may or may not stay on the mob. It depends on the relative speeds of the weapons, handedness, and whether or not the mob can wield the new weapon.
Other items may or may not stay on the mob, depending on how many items the mob already has or has been given.
Besides, with everyone so twinked now, that mob is very likely to lie there and go unlooted until the corpse vanishes, taking with it the nice item you gave it. Please don't think this is a good way to give something to a newer player, unless you see them killing AND looting -- and then why not just give it to them? They're already earning their was as it is.
