I have no idea when it happened but I found this ring on my 16 Necromancer. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just wondering why my 53 cleric doesn't still have it (Debalic was likely the one who got it in the first place) Ah well...makes sense for the necro pet summon spell anyways. cheers!

I just got one Saturday. Dropped off a Di'Zok Underling, we were pulling everything around Zone-in. This seems to have a low drop rate, as we only got 1 in about 3 hours of killing. We also got 1 SBS, so the poster who said it drops about as often was, in my experience, correct.
And from what I've been told by LOTS of people, is that the amount of mana you get is dependant on Character lvl and wis/int. The formulas are:
For Wis/Int under 200: (lvl/10)*2 For Wis/Int over 200: lvl/10
Those may not be 100% accurate, but I hit the exact numbers Magelo gives me.
But anyway, using those formulas if you have >200 Wis, and are about lvl 50, then you are actually gaining 10 mana by swapping this ring for a Velium Jasper (+7 wis) ring. Plus the extra 5hp, and saves are nice. (and yes, 5hp CAN be a life saver, after putting this ring on, I zoned into Umbral Planes on a bad pull with 1hp left...) You may say "Wow, a whole 10 mana!" But 10 mana may mean the difference between life and death for you tank. Taking that extra tick to med that 10 mana may be more time than your tank has. Yeah, it isn't much, but as some one said earlier... Every little bit helps!
A little more info on Lady Telora's post about mana: at level 60, with wis/int 200 or lower, 1 point of wis/int gives you 10 mana whereas at 60 with wis/int above 200, 1 point equals only 5 mana. (Obviously the wis-int/mana ratio is different at lower levels.) So while trying to hit the 255 cap is nice, I myself tend to swap plus wis/int gear for plus mana gear. Anyhoo, I've seen this ring drop a handful of times and never twice in one evening of hunting 3-4 hours and most, if not every time (can't remember to be sure) it dropped while camping the fort off random mobs.

Closer to 1/10th that since Luclin shifted the mana by int/wis to 255.
I've only seen them for 1500-2k on Nameless, which seams fair to me.
WIS casters gain 5hp 5vs Poison/Disease from this, trading out Velium jasper rings eats the 20 mana.
INT casters gain a bit more, since > 5 int rings are hard to come by, they're usually trading out 5int for 5int, so they're gaining the 20 mana.
All in all, it's a nice item. Well worth 2500 to an INT caster IMO. A good deal less to a WIS caster simply because it's resists aren't enough to matter where resists are needed, but still desirable by the law of ELBH.(every little bit helps) :)
Oddly enough, the only mobs that I've seen drop these are Chokidai, which have no fingers. go figure.
They're presently dropping with the same rarity as the SBS.
Honestly this is going to mostly dependent on your uses..if your doing AOE style mobs, your best bet is going to be VDWR(velium diamond wedding ring, 8 to all saves), however, if your going up against a melee mob, say King Tormax, you will need all the mana you can get.
As for the best class for this item, its honestly more or less up to who already has better, or who would actually use it.
I got this while heading down to do some quest in Chardok. It's a great upgrade for casters, wis or int type. I also upgraded from a plat jasper ring, but it dropped me to 200 wis, so in effect I gained 19 mana from it. As I understand it you gain 1 mana for 1 wis (or int) over 200, so it's a definite improvement even if it doesn't really give enough mana to cast another spell at my level.
This ring dropped while my group and I were fightin down in Chardok, and I got it. This ring is very nice so I switched it with my Plat. Jasper Ring. I only lost 1 wis, and gained several stats.I still have a 192 wis :)
