as a 40 year old career eq assassin (not a thief i assure you) i can certainly see where this dagger would drive you mad. im going to obtain one just to take a screen shot of deleting it.

Thats already ingame, its called Thundering Blades and its a spell that casts a innate proc on any blade you wield as a ranger. Its a 313 proc and a chance to cast a limited Weaponshield on the ranger.
Also you said you where out of the game for a bit. Its changed alot, MOBs raid DPS is through the roof, one trash mob in todays raid could probably destroy 5 Quarms of yesterday. So the weapons on players need to keep up or its pointless.

Rogue? If their ain't an incoming nerf, I'm quitting EQ. A rogue with this weapon could do raid dps. Whats next? a ranger weapon that procs a 24 sec weaponshield every swing? A berzerker weapon that procs a doppleganger pet with the same weapon proc'n doppleganger? A SK weapon that procs harm touch? a paly shield with 1 google ac? Somebody stop the madness!!!

being that it's Secondary only, i fail to see why you're upset, since there ahve been similar ratio'd 1hs and 1hb weapons from TSS
