got this in part of a trade. replaced my paw of opolla finally. nice ac and of course great wis. has a pretty cool graphic too. not just a normal kite shield look.
The Shield is only slighlty better then the CGS and I would not do the quest for it but since it was a mob drop it was a nice reward. I was happy to receive it for a night of camping in Keal :) BTW it looks like VI decied to address the camping issue of quests by making them rare drops on mobs, I have noticed this with a couple other items as well... So if u dont want to complete the quest kill some stuff and u might get luckey.

Stellazio, it may have escaped your attention, but Dakken was obviously joking with the post about this being a monk item. Not flaming you (it is understandable to not see sarcasm which might be very obvious to others), rather thanking you for giving me one of the best laughs i ever had. The silly monk post and your reply to it just made me roll off my chair for some reason. Call me odd if you like (i know i am). /rant off
About this shield not being worht the risk : it is indeed something not many who are able to quest (or loot) this would use, but it's still better than a CGS (allthough only slightly)... i agree with others saying to consider this a "comon drop" and maybe passing it on to a lowbie friend or just give away to make a newbie's day. Afterall, moonstone rings suck bigtime for anyone who can loot them too, same story IMO.
I honestly cannot take anymore of this "Oh look it has AC and Str ITS A MONK ITEM. If it DOESN'T SAY MONK ITS NOT FOR MONKS!!! You monks already have some REALLY NICE armor when you get to higher levels so stop ******** about ooo it has 13ac and 2str! monk! ITS A SHIELD DINGUS! Don't you think a cleric would be much happier using it considering its got 9 wis and 10mana as well as ac/str? You monks get everything you need and more when you achieve the level to obtain this item so go get your own... thats all I have to say about that...
......but it could have been alot better for the troubles of obtaining it.
Ans some comments on some of the other posts....im a cleric on Ayonae Ro and i have been given alot of items during my course to reach my 31st season and now that i have begun to make some money i give away stuff to new players.
Even if its only banded armour the player that gets it is set for a long time in the game....the joy of giving away armour and weapons that i dont use well worth it, too bad that others dont feel the same way.
Eriond Cleric of Brell and a follower of Odins Chosen Army.
Perhaps this is thrown in, NOT to be better than other loot from lower levels, but because there is a finite amount of variations that they can get with the stats they allow. (Within reason.) Chalk it up to hand down to a grateful lowbie or guildee. Personally I love these things cause you pass it to a friend who needs it (Like the perma-broke clerics) and they love you...
You complainers have never seen the effect on a gamer, who just starts out in FP or Qeynos with a sharp stick whackin bugs and rats, when you show up from the Land of the High and Mighty and gift them with full banded *gasp* a sword or something, and a shield like this... makes their day and the game is more fun for all...
I have to disagree here; I've been playing over 2 years and have most likely given away more equip than you have ever had. Telling me I don't know what it's like to give something away to a newb is a wildly false assumption.
Secondly, this has nothing to do with my point: this item is only marginally better than an item attainable in the upper 20s and requires Velious giant faction and killing in dragon necropolis to attain. Risk vs Reward = a lie.
Lol, Erudites seem to have a thing about newbies. I am a lvl 44 Necromancer on Xev server and I farmed Runny Eye last week for 4 nights in a row (I was alone, but now there must be 30 lvl 50+ people down there). Needless to say, I got plenty of BI/BA armor and weapons. I went out, invisible on orc hill and would stand there until I saw a poor newbie around lvl 5 that seemed like he needed some help. No one ever done that to me but I love doing this. So I told the guy in private to meet me at the bank in Gfay. We met a few minutes later, I had a full Backpack of BI/BA armor for him, the ENTIRE set, no missing pieces and a BABS and gave it to the guy. 1) He looked awesome all dressed in black 2) He was happy 3) I was happy. I just love to do that.
right on man....... When I see people do that it makes me all teary eyed...(wipes eyes) Just because this game is based on getting armor for yourself(it was in the beginning at least), doesnt mean you gotta be a stiff. Be nice and give a little. You never know, but in later levels that person might just do something for you.

So .. to get this MILD upgrade to a Charred Shield from SolA I have to kill Dragon Constructs in Dragon Necropolis.
I see.
Excuse me, Mr Game Designer, can you come here for a minute .. closer . a little closer ... KICK TO THE NADS! *grabs hapless moron by the collar* "I have had a 10ac, 9wis shield since level 27 from Sol A you blithering MORON"
There. Now I feel better.
What I would LIKE to see, by ways of an upgrade is the AC of a Sarnak Battle Shield in conjunction with the Wis of a Charred Guardian Shield .. or:
ac25 wis9 mana10
This, to my mind, is a suitable upgrade when taken in the context of the Dragon Necropolis vs Solusek A
I agree. There will always be a MoB's common drop or reward (this shield) and his rare drop or reward which probably kicks some seriosu ***** Also, this is great for anyone who has the Charred Shield and is in the 30's. It's an upgrade, no matter how little. Think of it this way, you can sell the shield still right? So do it enough and you can afford something insanely godly. Or, as one poster said, get a crowd of newbies around you and tell em to roll, winner gets phat lewts =)
You don't get everything you want, you spoiled little brat. Go to Summer School or something, nobody wants whining 12 year olds who think they are hard-asses playing EQ.
I think my post has a valid point; please address it, instead of using the same lame old "quit yer ************* saw make so popular by sock boy, Mr Anonymous 8)
Again, for those who are blind but somehow can read msg boards, the risk vs reward for this item is completely out of skew. It is mildly better than an item you can get in your upper 20s in Sol A, and it requires velious giant faction and hunting in dragon necropolis.
I agree that its a lousy shield, but also, I've killed dragon constructs with 3 level 58 people. They're really easy. Personally I think they should have made it a more involved quest, where you have to kill a bunch of stuff including a construct to get a better reward.
hm, its not nodrop, and its just a side award of a dragon. its not his best loot, but something u can give away. be happy with it, that shield is ok. sure it could be better, but there cant bee onlt uberstuff all around. kill a dragon. loot his go(o)d stuff. catch the scroll for an extra award u can trade. its not the only award u can get....
RARR .. (flexes) .. thanks for making more of a man out of me, Manaz .. now that you've given me your testosterone-choked pep talk, I'm off to solo Trak.
BTW thanks also for missing the point of the post completely.
