I'm a 65 Ranger, I buffed with Speed of Vallon, and snagged a KEI in POK then ran to Overthere stone and proceeded to Burning Woods. I got to the camp cleared it once, waited INSIDE the building with the two spawn giants in the fort, on the next pop here came Carpenter Grundo. I was kinda upset seeing no graphic on him but I figured it must be rare as per the other posts. NOPE! It had no graphic on the giant, but he sure the heck dropped this. (Only this by the way.) Hope others have same streak of luck.

I was was the first one there... great practice weapon for 2HB :) (Just wish I could pass it along to my alts as well, oh well)

Mmmmmmmm....
I like my Spikey Baseball Bat :p

I spent the better part of the day camping this item, and got it on the last spawn of the night - my KEI had just faded when I decided to make one last pass at the giant's hut before calling it a night.

I had been /oocing to the zone that I had been looking for him for about 8-10 hours, which was lucky because I pulled Grundle badly, got adds, and was forced to feign. A necro (thanks Cdil!) invited me to his group once the adds had pathed away and, to make a long story short, killed Grundle and I looted the staff.

The area was exp at my level, but low blues and greens, about the same amount of power as the giants in GD. I got a bunch of forest giant loot in that time, including two forest loops, but exp was slow soloing at level 55.

He's rare, folks. Write that down.

Now onto Howling Stones for the next bit of the quest...
Nice Little 2HB

On the Firiona Vie server, I picked up this little beauty in the bazaar for my Ranger to practice 2HB. He was able to proc it at level 30 (it may proc earlier) and with his DEX in the 130s, I see it go off several times per battle. Once, I even saw it go off repeatedly, keeping the mob stunned for a solid 8-10 seconds.

As others have noted, it does indeed make for a very efficient training weapon as the stuns help reduce the damage you take as you train to gain skill.

Also previously noted, it has a very nice look to it. Sort of like a black baseball bat with silver studs on the upper 1/3 of the staff.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 04 2003 at 2:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) That is quite impressive sir, especially the part about buying it in the Bazaar; this item is NO DROP.

Very few items are tagged no drop on FV.

Found one today in BW. Been hunting at fort for about a week now and it is the first time i see the Carpenter. Spawned somewhere inside the fort. Fairly easy kill, but he seemed to have more HPs than any otehr giant around there, included Gorgul or whatever his name is.
btw... melee guildies took too long to get there and it rotted... what a pity
Funny thing is, after killing him we left for CoM and one of the first mobs we hit dropped Master Wu's Trance Stick. what a great night it would have been, if i just were a monk )

Was in BW, and a druid /ooc's "Carpenter down, druid epic peice on it".

Well, since I am doing epic for first time, and have 1 more Faydwer mobs left before I get my 3 in Kunark, I don't have the Kunark mobs memorized.

I ran. I looted. I thanked.

I still thank him, I mean, it's an awesome 2hb, but the only use I will even get from it is as follows:

For example: I'm under Vox, nuking, and go 0om. Nevermind medding and getting summoned! Switch to this bad boy, and help keep her from doing C Heal (you can't stun dragons or giants, but stun will interrupt casting).

Other than that, it'll rot in the bank. Why do I feel bad? I know alot of wizzies who'd LOVE this!

I will say the effect and the stats make it seem more like a cattle prod than a bronze staff. *Wizzy Joe Blow Pokes Vox with a caddle prod*

*Vox Roars, and grabs her butt*

Got to the giant fort shortly after hitting 52 and turning AAXP to 100%. After getting 1.5 AAXP We saw this guy... twice.

Oddly enough he spawned and another duo took him down and then on the next repop he spawned again.. now I've got something to do during raids =P
Waiting on a Stun

Im a young druid (lvl 9) on FV, I just bough this staff in the bazaar today for 900pp. Im wondering at what level the stun will start kicking in. (For those who want to know how a 9th lvl druid got 900pp. Silk Silk Silk!)

VERY nice quests even though it's not linked in the database and doesnt show up in the quest item list. Check skyshrine quests. The Spirit of Garzicor. I think bards and rogues can't benefit from this. quest number hasn't changed from the link above but the url has

To the Beastlord who purchased this item for 900pp. I am wondering how you may purchase a No Drop item? Did you pay the person that killed the mob then loot the corpse? I was just curious.

I got one of these long long ago. I think its kinda useful, i try and squeez it in in raids, 11 ac and stun isnt bad, doesnt grab to much taunt, and i can look like i am doing something with it (due to the speed).

Why i remember when i got it , everyone spamed me with inspects and "WUTZ DA STATZ ON THAT PHAT LooKIN L3VVT

I have a lvl 41 beastlord of FV and i bought this for 900pp *economy is wacky and very little is no drop on FV* all i can say is the only thing i hate about being a beastlord is no root stun or snare, nothing to keep the runners from bringing you a few friends to play with. sure its a proc but it still helps and has saved my **** quite a few times! though i barely use it unless the mob is about 1/4 on HP or im fighting a caster
stun maybe useless
# Feb 27 2002 at 3:22 AM Rating: Decent
If the stun on this is the same as on Mortificators spear and howling harpoon- its will get resited 50% the time high blues.
however if ur wackin a named mob thats been debuffed by shammy it may be useful. worth a try!
Ranger Training Wep
# Jan 23 2002 at 2:22 PM Rating: Good
This is the fastest 2hb i can find for a Ranger ANYWHERE, And my 2hb skill has been crawling to skill 157, and I train it every chance I get. Just passed level 51 and the Improve caps came off and all my other Melee skilles are maxxed for my level with the exception of 2hb. So, I'll think I'll gather a few of my hunting buddies and head back to BW and smack around the Carpenter if he ever spawns. I have hunted the fort a few other times and never seen him pop *sigh*, But you can bet I'll put a knot on his head if I catch him up, cause I gotta have this thing!

Woot, got bad boy over the weekend on our last pull. It's been told to me that Carpenter was a rare spawn, but a fellow reported to me that he had been taken down earlier in the day so, I pretty well gave up on the idea of getting him. The just as we were ready to camp.....Viola! He popped...and got popped...and presented me with this quick 2hb. Thanks Carpenter Grundo! Now I look like a street thug weilding this bad boy. I cant wait to use it.

Is the stun effect on this AOE or just on your current target? I've never heard of it being AOE before, but someone mentioned that in a post below here. Anyone know for sure?

The stun is clr/pal first stun spell, and it is single target spell. I don't think it's AoE.

The quest is absolutley awesome!

The earring would be great on my druid, and just PICTURE that sword on ANY class that can use it!

Absolutely awesome!

Seems the more I play, the more I learn that Verant DOES have some nice stuff out there... Imagine that lol the longer you do something, the more yo ulearn about it... Who'd have guessed?

10/26 +11AC AoE: Stun...? Are you people high?
FOr the love of God people, you're on drugs! Give this to one of your tanks, and he's a God during a serious melee. Granted 10/26 2hb is kinda lame, but with the AoE stun and the AC buff he's gonna be golden. With solid Taunting, the tank weilding this lil' smack stick oughta be able to offer any group worth their salt a fighting chance...
Just my 2cp, but crikey! This thing could be a helluva weap in the right hands.
Weight
# Jun 14 2001 at 10:25 AM Rating: Default
I seen a few people complaining about the weight of the staff for monks. Actually, if you look alot of the monk 2h blunt weight 10lbs. But the stats aren't that great, and its no drop. That proc would get a monk killed alot.
Carpenter Grundo
# Jun 08 2001 at 3:22 PM Rating: Default
We have been camping the giant fort for about three levels (long enough that we've looted at least half a dozen Tree Weaves), and last night was the first time we ever even saw Carpenter Grundo, much less killed him (which we did). Maybe we were just unlucky all this time?

He had hit points comparable to Gorgul Paclock.

Neither tank-type wanted it, so the shaman took it. He used it last night just ******** around, but any tough battles and I'm sure he'll go to the equipment he already has. But it's a SWEET-looking weapon, and the animation of the shaman using looked cool. Actually, looked like he was sticking it up giant ***** as we fear-kited them. :)

If I see any monk on my server with this item, I'm taking it right out of his hands and smacking him with it.
RE: No Drop monk item weighs 7 stones
# Sep 25 2001 at 5:47 AM Rating: Decent
Now why yould you do that? You that much of a Dork or has jealousy blinded you that much?

Don't care HOW much anyone ******** it's a good 2hb weapon for monks. Who gives a frag abut th 6.7 weight, byt the time a monk does get it that weight will not bother him AND it adds AC for sakes.

Wish all you people would open your eyes.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 10 2001 at 5:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) how about you look up ALL the other monk 2hb weapons weights and then I smack YOU with it
Dont worth the work
# Jun 04 2001 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent
level 50+ Mob ?...

Well, for a SHD, you will easily got a 1HS/1HB + Shield for total better than that at low level :

AC 11 : Almost all the Magic Shields are AC 10 or more (and often with some saves like MM shield or Cristal one...)
Stun : When you Bash, you may stun too...
10/26 : So much weapons now are with a ratio close than that, and they bring some stats or effect...

And the both will not cost you 1K !...

So except for a Quest (Maybe) this staff dont worth the work to get it.

My opinion, just...
RE: Dont worth the work
# Jun 05 2001 at 5:35 AM Rating: Default

im a cleric dont melee often and i dont need the stats form my melee slot so i would love to whip my S and M looking stick out and look like on bad *** DE cleric. as for the 1k price this is no drop dont bring price into it.
and your remarks about a low lvl sk could get better true. but they would look like as much of a "im going to beat u with my baseball bat look"and having this is a stus symbol also lol

My duty to reply...

Well, All My characters get the look ;) you can check here if you want : http://www.lozit.com/laconf/im/members/Gwenola.jpg

I think that my look is not so... "Baseball" ?... What do you think ...? and I did not wait to be 50+ to have this "Police-intervention" - look staff to have a cool look ;)

Think Different... BE Different !

Gwenola, Shadow-Knight Erudite, just for the look :p
Location of Carpenter Grundo
# Jun 04 2001 at 2:25 AM Rating: Default
Carpenter Grundo spawns at the giant fort in the Burning Woods, and appears to spawn in one of the static spawn spots, apparently the same place every time. We took him down three times over the course of the weekend, with around 6-7 hours between each spawn, and he dropped the staff every time.
