I dont even want to read through all the moron posts about monks using this I dont care hahaha. I just want to know where this drops if someone could please tell me Smiley: wink

I really would like to have this shield and a 1hb or 1hs whether everyone bags on me not using 2h weapons I like both but prefer 1h just cause of the cool Knight look hahaha....no body probely understands LOL!

i got this shield today. its very nice
i also already have a fearsome shield
both re nice
i dont have my epic yet, and i dont really like 2h weapons and with drop like black rock maul or frostwrath i can still use 1hs and shield

and between fearsome and fury
i ll use fury cause of resist and int since my int s not enought high
just keep fearsome for right click

2H owns 1H hands down. same ratio 2h weap will far outdmg a 1h weap for dmg bonus alone. but the 1h weaps in ToV are like 23dmg 23dly or 24dmg 22dly for SK as opposed to Lance of Thunder which is like 52dmg 46dly. i was hittin for 300+ at 56 with mine. uber hasted on raids, 1h weaps just dont cut the mustard for DPS.

If a tanks primary function is to absorb damage, and a higher ac helps reduce damage taken, how can a 2H own a 1H hands down?

Oh, I get it; you were focusing only on DPS, not exactly the number 1 priority for a tank.

I might hear now that, due to the ac softcap, that increases in ac dont make that much difference. Well, two things you need to consider.

Firstly, many will argue the ac softcap issue like no tomorrow. Its a highly debated topic and very much unresolved. Whos to say that the increase in ac, and therefore the damage taken, isnt worth the reduction in DPS?

Secondly, that argument only really holds water if you are at the softcap in the first place. If you are under it, then increases in ac are probably as important as increases to your HP.

Furthermore, a ac25 (or greater) shield has a basic DPS of 8.5. When adding that to the damage that a 1H weapon does, most would be very surprised to see that, while 2H will generally outdamage a 1H, the difference is NOT as great as many believe it is. However, you also gain the advantage of interrupting spells, increased ac, and buffs /effects from the shield.

At the end of the day, a 2H MIGHT be a better choice, but is sure as hell isnt an automatic decision. I recommend that all SKs review their choices carefully, as it is NOT a mindless decision.

I have been in VERY few raids where all the warriors were dead to the point that I had to absorb the damage. Shields are pulling tools for SK's in most situations. In all honesty, I think the AC difference is smaller for damage absorption, ESPECIALLY on this item at this level, than the damage difference between 1h+Bash and 2h.

Even guilds with unreal gear on their knights won't use them as MT for anything other than epic-type mobs. Defensive disc is just too valuable.

EDIT: Also consider the value of DPS on most high end raids. If all but MT makes it priority, that is a faster kill = less mana needed to keep MT alive = less mana needed by nukers = less time for repops and/or less time the adds need suppressed = greater chances of success.

Well i see alot of Posts lately about SK and Sheilds... Here is the Nitty gritty of Sheilds ... Sheilds are a Def tool!... Thus if your in a toll were you are taking Dmg for a group (Example: Exp group were you are main tank) your AC becomes your Primary consern , Next is Argo ... But if you dont have the AC needed .. Argo will spell Death and the group will die ...

Another Argument is "Well the SK Epic is 2hs! Why do we need a sheild?" Well i have any number of weps on my SK ... Darkmetal Falcron, Sward of Pain, Some Venom spear i picked up in Keal... Should Leech , Blade of Abrogation (just made my corrup Ghoulbane) ... My point is each weps had a perpous... some i use far less then others But i got them on hand if i need them... And yes i will have my Epic soon *with luck* i will move to my it to my Primaly wep and take a 33 Raw-Ac hit for the dmg.. but in a Tank roll i will garentee i will have that sheild and Falcron/Soward of Pain up for the AC/HP ...

Simply put ...
Tank = Sheild + 1h-wep (For AC)
Sub-Tank = Best dmg wep (for Dmg)

I'm a 57 monk, and I never leave without my shield of rainbow hues. I love it. I hotkey my second hand, put it on, pull ect, take it off and beat the hell out of the mob. 18ac is very nice, and the 20 to all resists is excellent. I dont even have to worry about weight, at all..I'm well under it..as you get higher weight isnt a huge issue..some of my armor weighs a lot and I'm still at 20 weight(my limit at level 57)

indeed a nice item to have if you dont have your epic. regardless of what some think our epic erm...leaves a lot to be desired. fearsome is also a good shield but its not built just for SKs such as this one is. the stats are meant for SKs on this one so id have to prefer the Shield of Fury.

Cause the SK epic sux *** and most players who can get this can get a 1hs/1hb which owns the hell out of the SK epic... not to mention the effects of the added hp/ac/resists you can pick up from using a 1h weap with a shield.

I can't say that it's the best, but I find myself wondering if I will have something close to it, by the time I'm able to attain this one. Having just reached 26th, I know I have plenty of time to look as I climb my way up to the point where I can attain this shield. It's even possible that a better shield will be available for PoA, on a little known quest. But until that quest is found and it's reward posted, I'll keep aiming for the day when I can go ToV to get this, and some of the other nice pieces that drop for us SKs.

I wish that verent would start making some All/all items weighs 20 pounds each so that all them damn monks can for once shut up and say its not a perfect item for a monk. But probably if it says it weihs 20 pounds all the monks would say that verent is ******** us monks. I hate the monks post here... What do all of you guys here think???

P.S Isn't a plate class supposed to have more ac then a class that can't wear metal armor?

I think this might be nice enough for SK's to put their epic away everyonce in a while and go to a 1 hander, although probably not very often. Very nice shield, hell, I wish I could use it too.

For you tards saying monks should be able to use this (or you're surprised they cant because you think monks are 'better') I say get a life and try playing a monk. Firstly, a monk with a shield would be a stupid monk. Next off warriors get GOOD stuff too. Play a warrior and a monk past level 20 (or perhaps past level 2 at least?) and rethink your statement. As the joke about the 1ac shield, it was just that, a joke. Get over it, please.

Alot of people whine about their class being weaker and whatnot. They have never played the other class to remotely understand its disadvantage. There was a time everyone said Shadowknights sucked and I had an SK and I loved it. I have played a warrior, a pal, I've played just about every class for at least a short period of time. Enough of the "your class is better than mine". Remove any one class from the game and watch every raid crumble rediculously.

Ok, we got a cleric a shaman a drood and a Sk shield out of ToV so far, all 4 were the best items for that slot/class combo so far (maybe Sk isnt as good as fearsome, but who cares), lets see what the pallys will get, or did any of you see a pic of it yet?

Why would you loot it? idiots. Think this **** over before you poor your hearts into an idea everyone would make fun of. Something like uping the weight on all monk only items .2 (big increase trust me). That would hurt a bit more then something they wouldnt have.
