Ijust got the reaver in Zek bazaar for 16k (talked him down 1k). The other price was 27k. Great weapon but shopping in baz is like try to find an apt. or house - it's whatever is a vailable at THAT time. After reading all the post I definitely feel like I overpaid for it - but it kinda levels out the playing field a little what with all the twinkies and ebayers that now inhabit EQ!
this is probally better than most twink wepons u can get unless u have well over 100k to spend on them. its not very good until level 20 but then u can kill recondites in 4 hits- and with doubble attack thats only 2 rounds, in which they will do what 50 damage? also get a good haste item and u will attack around once every 3 seconds.
actually, best twink item ever (for people under lvl 20) is swiftblade of zek. 18 delay, and you have a dmg cap anyways so you can only hit for 20 dmg. plus, there is no recommended lvl so you get plus 100 hp and 10 ac and other great stats. hands down, a lvl 1-10 using a swiftblade doesnt even need armor its so good.
I am not certain what the formulas are. I have used the reaver for my low level twinks for about 2 years. What I found was this: With a Wide Bladed Greatsword my toons had fewer hit points remaining when the mob died than with the Reaver. The same result with other 2 hs. The result vs dual wield varied. I used a Wurmy and Centi LS, a Defiance and Lamentation, etc. With some I had more hps left when the mob was dead, with others fewer hps. I did not do any of this scientifically, obviously. My beliefs are based on completely empirical (observed) data. The Reaver is great weapon. I particularly like the resist stats, but I have several high end characters that resist stats are important to. I will mention that they use other weapons with even better damage/delay ratios. :=).
When I rolled my Zerker I went shopping to twink him out. When I saw a weapon with a 100% damage delay ratio and no level restriction for ONLY 10Kpp I jumped on it. That was about a week ago and since then I have seen it auctioned many, many times for under 6K and once as low as 4k.
To add insult to injury, I have hardly been using the Reaver b/c the damage cap at low levels prevents it from hitting as hard as it should. Instead I've been using a Sword of the Crypt Keeper that I looted for FREE on an LDoN mission (has a 50HP lifetap proc that works at level 1).
Although I'm sure I'll be happy with this when I reach level 20 and the last damage cap is removed, I really wish I hadn't paid that much.
I jumped on this at 10K b/c I'm so used to buying weapons for my Monk - any Monk 2h'er w/ those stats would sell for much, much more.
Anyone on Tholuxe Paells wanna buy a "like new" Reaver for 10k?........lol
Sword of the Crypt Keeper was nerfed... it has a recommended lvl of 55 and it doesn't proc until lvl 30. So it definitely isn't better than the reaver. And as far as the cap... wait till 20... omfg you will be hurting people. My 23 zerker crits for around 110-120ish and he does it alot. Average hit is 60-70. Thats alot of dmg at 23. That doesn't include my frenzy which tears em up. all in all... this is a very nice wep... even if your capped... but have patience till your 20... it'll pay off.
Sony's removal of stamina in the form of battle fatigue (the main complaint against this weapon in the past due to its very high 25 weight) has made this a much better 2HS option. It has to be considered one of the top 3 or 4 purchasable 2HS weapons in the game without question. I have one on my 31 Shadow Knight, and I have never been outdamaged by any party member I've grouped with. I loved my reaver before but would occasionally have to have the cleric refresh my stamina in long, drawn-out battles. Now it's no longer a concern.
I can name ya 3 other weapons that are easily better buys than this reaver. A Di'zok Katana, Sword of crypt keeper, and War marshall's bladed staff to name a few, let alone a Tae ew 2hs, Argent Protector , and Widebladed Greatsword. I use to own this weapon, along with all those others, and this reaver, especially due to the weight , was used not worth it, and used mebbe three times. I sold mine, and never even thought about using it to twink an alt. As far as the resists go, i can get that off of jewlery. I do not need a slow, sloppy 2hs for good resists. Even after the stamina change, i would have little use for this blade.
I would just like to take a second to say that you, sir, are not smart. The Di'Zok Katana is not even comparable to this. Higher delay, lower DMG. The sword of the CK is good, but the reaver is much better for damage. My Zerk is currently level 29 and LOVES this wep! I hit for 80 on average and crit for 130-150. Cant wait for the 400s at 50+!
WMBS has a rec lvl so unless you want a 15/28 weap cause your too low to use it Reaver dominates and i beleive Tae Ew has a Required lvl hes talking about for a lvl 31 SK hell i have this on my 22 warrior and hes criting for 140 and at lvl 22 that out does most nukers. His average hit is in the 60-75 range so imo this is a great twink weap.
On the TVS server, reavers sell for 5-7k in the bazaar so don't buy the high priced ones. Might be able to get it for 4k that's why i'm saving up. Just to keep people from overpaying.
beside from the time i found 1 on the floor(couldnt pick it up cuz i ALREADY HAVE 1: ( som1 was selling this in Baz for 2k, i asked why and theyre answer amazed me!
If you want a great 2hander for cheap, get this weapon. It has a higher dps than any weapon with less than a 1:1 ratio. Using the calculation of [2*(dmg+dmg bonus)/dly]*10*(1+ %haste--like 1.41)*[1+(player level+double attack skill level)/500], you will see that only weapons like Windblade and the like can match or surpass this weapon. Just picked one up for 7k on Quellious, couldn't believe the price. There were weapons costing three times as much that don't even come close to it. Yes there are weapons with better bonus stats on them but in the end the only thing that matters is dps.

Posted:Jun 27 2003 at 9:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is definitely not a Warrior's first choice. The thing weighs 25 stones!!! Even with a high Stamina the 25 stones would slow a warrior down too soon in a fight.
just because the weight is 25 stone doesnt make this a bad weapon. if your base STA is over 100 you will not slow down with attacks, in fact the only affect is you wouldnt be able to jump but i have still yet to meet a warrior who jumps while fighting.
Warriors should avoid 2 handed weapons anyway they get better aggro hold using 2 low delay procing weapons with much more hits, and aggro from each hit. A pally could use this well especially since they get stamina replenish spells like invigor and have high channelling to cast it successfully in battle, and their stuns make up for aggo lost by high delay 2handed weapons (aggro lost from less hits per second).
Last weapon was a Worn Shai`din Naginata, was a good weapon, but this Reaver is better. Don't know why other posting say the Reaver is nonmagical, rest assured, my Reaver is magical (patch anyone?). Am a 37 pally hitting in the 140's highest with it with 154 strength unbuffed. Saw it on Rodcet Nife at the cheapest for 3k, usually runs for 6k. With a Shaman haste spell on it this weapon becomes a 40/28 (30% haste) or 40/24 (40%haste). That is a killer weapon. Everyone says the Widebladed Greatsword is better, but consider: they both have the same ratio, 1 to 1, only difference is instead of resistances you get buffs to attributes with Greatsword and 25 AC with Greatsword. 25 AC is killer, but with my 40% haste on this weapon, I'll take the Reaver anyday. The Reaver weighs alot, though.....stamina problems.....
Oh and for those disillusioned souls who think they are going to be able to get the cash to buy an admittedly superior but incredibly, outlandishly expensive 45k Windblade, this weapon is the second best out there, or the Widebladed Greatsword (both 2nd best). And if you think you're gonna kill a mob to get the Windblade, bettter wait until you're level 63 because that's what you're gonna have to do.
At one point of time this wep was non magical. I also remember when they where dirt cheap because of it. I was actualy surprised that they went back to fix the flag. /shrug I might have to go get one for my war on SZ now
wow... im gonna have to agree with you on this one... that was a dumb-*** post... my iq has been reduced from reading it, i shall go now and try to recover from it
Not exactly sure how haste works but this how someone explained it to me 50% haste will not make this a 40/20 if it DID, having 100% haste would mean you were hitting non-stop making the delay ZERO.
Instead he said it works like this (simplified)
Divide 100 by HASTE, this is how many hits you would normally do but with haste in the same time you do 1 extra
Example. Haste 25% 100 / 25 = 4, meaning every time you would normally hit 4 times you would hit 5 instead. Making you 25% more efficent in combat.
Don't flame it you know this info is wrong by all means post, this is what I was told and makes more sense than anything else I've ever read.
I picked up a Worn Shai`din Naginata by trading my FBSS. Quite a deal I got cause this weapon is 37 damage to the reaver's 40, sure, it is slower than the reaver with a 45 attack delay compared to 40 of the reaver, but with the reaver costing 4k-7k on Rodcet Nife and my weapon was selling for 1k (cheaply, I might add) I think this weapon is a steal. It gets overlooked, the Naginata because nobody has heard of it but it is almost as good as the reaver, and considerably cheaper. If it's affordable I'll get the reaver but not after buying better armor, etc. Take a look at the Worn Shai`din Naginata, you may not regret it especially if cash is a problem or not quite into the 40's yet. Plus it's +6 str, +6 sta, +2 wis +2 int and 7 damage bonus. It's probably rare to find but a steal. Got it at level 32 and with 157 strength unbuffed am hitting for 130 damage tops.
I bought one of these before it was magic for 7k. I liked it and all, but this weapon was bad for raids becuase it wasnt magic. After they made it magic i sold in for 20k. Happy i wasted 7k before it was magic )
i got mine for 4kpp and i sold it for 18kpp to some pally lol then i bought one AGAIN for 3k and sold it for 14k then got one for 5k and stuck with that one lol its a great weapon for all the classes listed (i got it for my warrior)

It being flagged as non-magical was probably just an oversight that went uncorrected for a long time. Considering who drops it, I don't think the weapon was ever intended to be non-magical. I just think whomever put the weapon info into the database messed up entering the info.
Too many were finding their way to lowly level 20s. Since no "ubers" or highbys would be caught dead with a non-magical weapon, the non-magic Reaver were gotten rid off at fire sale prices (2K to 5K) at the bazaar. Lowbys that bought it at such prices realised that 90% of the content out there DON'T REQUIRE MAGIC WEAPONS. Thus, what was a neat idea (conditional high end weapon that could only be used on non-magic mobs) became a potential game-breaking weapon if too many of them flowed downwards. A "reverse nerf" occured, the weapon became magical, demand for the weapon has risen amongst the high end crowd and the prices have risen accordingly to 10K+ plats out of the hands of lowly (but poor) players.
Besides for raids and the rare encounter of a magic mob, the average monster isn't magic. I have no problem hitting just about everything in kunark, odus, antonica, etc with it. None the less i still carry a cheap 2hs for the occaisional magic encounter, right now i'm using a weighty polearm, which is very nice considering i picked it up for 175pp. Not everyone is rich enough to get a windblade or widebladed greatsword(althought i'd still use this over greatsword, switch for magic stuff) and for the 4-6k it goes for on normal servers(non pvp) i think its quite a bargin!
I've carried this wep for 3 lvls I'm now a lvl 51 barb warrior on Torv, I love this wep I hit with it in the high 150+ my highest crit is 277 and with an enc or shammy haste it rocks, I've rarely come across mob that cannot be hit with it, and on the rare occassions that I have I can swap to my lammy and LSOEE and hardly miss a swing.) almost every group I've been in asks me what the weapon is I'm using after the 1st couple of fights. That said I've been considering buying stonebladed axe of dismay, I bought the reaver for 8k a couple of months back, I must admit I was shocked when I did a bazaar search to compare my resale price of 7k to see 2 for sale one at 5k and one at 4k! With the fun and success I've had wielding this beast I'd rather destroy it than give such a good weapon away(well maybe not!)but considering what mob drops this and the difficulty in obtaining it, 5k and 4k is a joke!
Isn't it funny how it has awesome resists & yet...it's not a magic item. What a joke!
Anyway, great DPS, but I wouldn't spend any pp on a nonmagical weapon unless I knew I'd be making a huge profit on the resell.
If you wanna spend a ton of money on a 2hander, invest in Nerandi's Lance or Argent Protector (shd/pal). If you're a warrior go for a Savage Stone Axe or Stonebladed Axe of Dismay.
The damage to speed ratio is fantastic and the magic saves always welcome but I find after having used this, I prefer other weapons: The Black Acrylia Halberd is 40/48 but has a magic bonus of +4 so if a mob's magic resist fails the saving throw, it becomes a 44/48 weapon (and also lifetaps for 45 hp oaccassionally). While it is indeed slower than the Reaver (delay 40 vs. delay 48), this can be compensated by a haste buff (I don't however recommend soloing tougher mobs with the BAH without haste and stamina buffs etc. It is far too slow to be used at full delay). Additionally, my greatest regret in buying this weapon is that it is, in fact, non-magical. There has been some debate on this point, but I assure you, you cannot defeat a willowisp with it (and no Grim Aura does not imbue your weapon with magical properties). My final thought is on price...on many servers, this weapon ranges from 15-20k which I feel is grossly overpriced despite the great dmg/dly. You can buy the Black Acrylia Halberd for 10k (or under) and it will serve you well. The Reaver is a good weapon; but I don't feel it makes the grade for its worth. ~ Valyrae Darkmalice Grave Lord on Xev
