One of my main goals in EQ is to take part in the hunting and slaughter or dragons.

If you wear a full set of skyshrine versus kael armor you give up about 45 total AC but gain 250 hit points. Raw AC is 170 for Thurgadin, 206 for Skyshrine, and 237 for kael.
Thurgadin stuff adds 99 to combat stats, str, sta, agi, dex and wisdom. Kael adds 123, skyshrine a whopping 159. So think about it, also, killing giants improves faction with thurgadin and skyshrine which gives you 2 sets of armor to quest for versus one.
And you can be comfortable with the fact your not killing dorfs. Righteous armor is nearly identical to Thurgadin stuff but arguably looks much better.

The skyshrine stuff is not better imo because by the time you can get this all your gonna be doing mostly raids because you need an UBER guild to get the stuff for this quest outta Temple of Veeshan. 250hps isnt crap compared to ac at that lvl because if ya look at it a lot of the vel stuff hits for 250 or more.

I have to agree with anonymous that the SS is much better. I look at the key stats for a Paladin. Cause with PoP mobs AC is not as big of an issue. First important is Hp's 140 for Kael, SS is 270. 2nd important is sta, kael 21, SS is 43. Lots of HP diff in that 22 sta. 3rd is Wis and mana, and Kael does have the edge there by a little, but I definitly give up my 50m and 5wis for all those HP's

*sigh* If I'd have to hazard a guess, you've never seen a high level raid. Most often it doesn't matter what your AC is, the mobs will still, more often then not, hit for max damage. A difference of 31 raw AC isn't going to matter much, then again, neither will the extra stats. So the choice is highly one of personal choice, and what the person feels is better for them.

If you get two of these, it is almost like having the Kael BP in AC atleast. These things are really nice! But, if you are to get the tarnished for it, you will need a full group of about lvl 55's. The MoB is a lvl 60.
I was just noticing I needed better bracers...It will be close to 1/2 a year before I see Velious
