By the time you can quest this, you already can max out Bind Wound and heal yourself for 75 points per BW.

Yes, but Bind Wound will not allow you to get to 100% HP. Bandages cost money and take up inventory space. The heal effect on the BP is free, unlimited charges, heals up to 100% hp and only takes up one slot in inventory (if you are not actually wearing it).

I bind wounds upto 100% all the time. Bandages are free with an Embalmers Knife. With both, you can heal yourself after battle then throw a few bandaids on party members while medding.

One thing to remember:
You can bind wound while hidden. The BP will break hide.

61 rogue on Bristlebane
I have soloed or tanked in:
Velks
Kael (Arena and Manor)
Neriak Commons (Guards since 55)
Plane of Growth
Plane of Nightmare (Not recommended unless you have good group of healers)
Umbrail planes
Eastern Wastes
Karnors Castle
Seb (Keep sneek on as much as possible to avoid adds)

Soloing as a rogue is possible, is it easy? Not always. Soloing in Arena isn't easy, but it's possible. Gear makes a big difference when soloing. My best piece of solo armor is my Mrylokar Brestplate. I love it and don't leave home without it.

You can solo pretty much anywhere LB or DB mobs hide. Adds are what will get you killed. Pull them to a good spot, instill doubt on them and then BS them all you can before they turn back on you.

# Aug 27 2003 at 4:34 AM Rating: Default
Well, I was in a group with a 60warrior, 56 cleric and a 44 druid. I am a lvl 56 Rogue. We weren't there looking for chain or plate to drop, we were just there for some CoV factioning. Made our way towards the arena and where kicking butt's a captain happened to drop the chain bp. no rolling, they let me have it and wooot I was happy. We had been there maybe 20 min. As for Flawless diamonds, I have never seen any drop in Velks Lab. I just bought mine. They where selling for 400pp min on Povar server and 1k max. luckily the one person selling for 400 had about 10. Anyone know how good your faction has to be???

I would like to put in my 2cp about the stats thing. I am a level 58 rogue and have all resists over 100 without any blue diamond gear on. This is invaluable in many situations. I resist almost every spell cast on me in Sebilis without even having resist buffs on,therefore I do not get slowed, do not take damage from wizzies. I also take significantly less damage from POP casting mobs. I have also found AC to be pretty much useless as a rogue. My ac is 1100 with 4k hp with Virtue and shm buffs, and I still get eaten alive by mobs in Kael or the planes. I have tried lots of combinations of armor (higher AC, less resists) and have found resists save me more often than AC.

Dexterity is also every bit as important as strength. Dexterity determines how often you actually hit the mob when you swing, which makes having high strenth useful since you will hit more often. I have str/dex maxed and sta/agi over 200 with regular shm buffs ( HOS/agi/sta), without having super crazy dragon loots, so it is not that hard to do.

Point is... Resists are important all the time, dex is just as important as str, and agi means pretty much squat.

# Nov 29 2002 at 1:41 AM Rating: Decent
just a note...at lvl 40 i went ahead and said ***** agility, and went for str,ac and hp,
at lvl 20 when i had 140 agility(at that point my highest stat) i got my but handed to me in OT, cause yes...i got hit very often. It don't help that much.....ac and hp are what keep u goin if u are tanking.
and no i don't tank, unless i am the ONLY melee class in the whole group. Its much less effective for me to need to be non stop healed, and do half the damage i would do from behind. As in almost any group i join, where levels are a bit varied and there is no warrior, i like the person with best ac/hp to do the tank work, it only makes sense people..just my 2cp

Rogues/Rangers tanking Kael.
# Nov 18 2002 at 2:28 PM Rating: Default
Level 60 Ranger (Us and Rogues have very similar Hp and Ac, both being chain classes)

Ac: 1092 unbuffed
Hp: 2607 Unbuffed
Attk: 1237 unbuffed

Ive tanked in Kael at:
Arena: Kallis, Prophets, Protectors, Named duo at arena pvp level.
Manor: All of it, including Velkaorant Zek
Bridge: Everything but the named pops, and Tormax + His guards (Need warriors for those mobs)

Make no mistake, Rangers and rogues can tank in Kael, Sebilis, Velketors, Dragon Necropolis, Umbral Plains, and even some of the PoP zones.

You just need to prioritize your stats, and Keep HP's high. AC isnt all there is to tanking.

Now while some may say that Rangers and Rogues are not efficient tanks, I agree with them for the most part, but when you want to lets say exp with some friends, and no warriors are availeable, we do a very good job untill a warrior/shadowknight/paladin becomes availeable for the job.

Additionally one of Ranger jobs is peeling mobs off casters if aggro goes that way. Yes, even l337 ub3r n4m3dz. It involves staying relatively high on the aggro list (4th or 5th spot to avoid rampage in raids, 2nd spot in groups for exp). When a mob turns onto a caster for what ever reason, you aggro it with snare + flamelick + taunt (Guaranteed love there) and tank it for a little while to allow your MA regaining of aggro, then you just jolt it back to him/her.

As far as Uber nameds go, Weaponshield does the job of allowing your tank to get aggro needed, and jolting it back (grantedly can't be done repeatedly this way, but you shouldn't be having aggro issues frequently at this level of play anyway)
Gotta put a stop to this!
# Jul 18 2002 at 4:27 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I gotta throw in my oppion, so sit back and strap in. First off, I hate to flame, but there is no way a rogue can efficentally tank in Kael. I pride myself in being a defesive rogue (heck, our class is offensive already, so my stats focus more on making up for our weaknesses) I pride myself in a respectable 1012 unbuffed AC but a unusually low 1.8k Hp (at lvl 56, I would love to see my AC at level60 seeing how a guildmate of mine has 1300AC and my equipment dwarfs his in terms of AC). Anywho, with the avarage buffs I can more then take a beating in Seb or Velks for a few rounds while I try to shake the agro, but Kael is a totaly different story. Even with 3k in HP and AC reachin towards 1100 I would still get creamed, thats just how it goes ;( Dont let anyone tell you rogues cant tank, because we can, in dire situations, and yes..it cuts our DPS down by 1/2 but we can do, in normal exp situations, but not raids. Also, while im raning, my oppion when it comes to stats with a rogue, Agi and Dex..not worthless, but damn close(besides as a rogue I find myself increasing these 2 stats without even trying thanks to verant tackin on bonuses to them on other beifical gear). AC, Hp and SVs are king (and the order of imporance changes in different situations) followed by Str being the only Atribute stats I find important. Oh and for the record, I may be defenisve, but Im happy with my 198 self buffed Str and 1016ish ATK. Anywho, dont really know if I made a point, but I just felt I should say the same thing that coutless others already have =)

I haven't fought in Kael yet so I don't know how hard those big guys are hitting but I'm sure they hit pretty hard.

Unbuffed my 51 rogue is around 880 ac with 1700 hp. Since I'm usually pulling in Velks, I'll grab a symbol or aego to bump it up to around 2800-3100 and 930ish ac. I can take a bunch of hits from the spiders but they're still hitting for 88-90 max (backstabs of around 270). I can tank for short periods but that job is better left for the real tanks.

LOL omg....if you think a ROGUE can TANK in Kael no matter how much armor, buffs, etc you put on them...well thats just funny. Rogues aren't even supposed to tank. if you want to tank stuff and deal lots of damage, just make a warrior. and besides, a rogue tanking can't even backstab. he'd have no advantage over a warrior at all. Even a MONK would tank better.

At level 40 my Rogue has 140 Agility 150 Dexterity before he gets buffed.. a group of 6 55th level Rogue in Kael is stupid even to consider. Now on the other hand 4 Rogues 55th a Shaman and a Cleric... all 55th + is a good combo... Hos, Haste, Storm Giant Str, Agility Buff, Aegolism(if you have a 60th Friend), Symbol of Marzin. Heroic Bond... well you get the idea...
A Group of properly buffed Rogues with an average of 180+ Agility is just as good as a Tank with 3 times the hit points, if a giant can't hit the rogue more med time for the healers, actually might get bored from too much medding. I figure if 4 rogues at 38 to 42 and a cleric and shaman can make fast work of Frost Giants in GD then the same group with bigger buffs should have the same odds in KD against bigger FG's.

P.S. A note to Rogues... go to Maiden's Eye A.S.A.P. Shrouded dagger (spelt as seen on weapon Capitol S lowercase d) 11/22 +5 Disease +5 Magic +5 Poison -5 Fire +5 Cold Wt:5.0
RE: solo
# Apr 22 2002 at 9:44 AM Rating: Decent
are you retarded or something?
AGI actually makes less of a difference in getting hit than AC does.
ALSO: shaded dagger sells for 1kpp, you can just do the Rozzut's Whistler quest for a 11/22 3sta 3agi dagger that only weighs 3. drop your agi and get some strength, more str = higher backstab.

Ok, who is pulling? Rogue puller in kael is death lil man, you need a Monk or SK.....and as for a Rogue tanking....get a life lil man, I don't care if you are He-man Barbarian rogue with 1000+ Ac and 3k hp, you are gunna die in Kael. You need a tank! MANY tanks (that I know) work on Agi and AC, that is mostly it.....with Shaman buffs they pass me in Agi, the big diffrence is they have taunt, you gotta keep the taunt, or you are gunna end up having a cleric healing every one of the people in the group (waiste of mana). And as Rogue, work on Dex mostly, AC secondary, Str third. and than Agi....after that i would recomend Stamina! unbuffed I am at 129 Agi, 200dex, 170str, and 857ac.......that is alot of dmg my friend!

Just something I wanted to touch on so new players dont get bad info.

A rogue with 180 AGI does not make him a super tank. A rogue is only better than a warrior is he has much more AC and HP. You can pass them in AC if you are much better equipped but you will rarely pass them in HP unless you are buffed up and they are not.

You should focus on HP, AC and resists in no particular order because all are equally important. To focus on STR etc is not really important because when you get to the point where that matters you will have high numbers just from your regular gear without even trying. Add buffs and the important ones should be well over 200. Other than STR and STA the other ones (DEX AGI) dont matter that much, just try to keep them above 120 base. In the end 99% of your deaths "should" be from AEs, you cant resist them all. Go for HP, AC and resists and you will do well.

Just my opinion.
RE: solo
# May 24 2002 at 3:32 PM Rating: Decent
I agree to some point, but disagree in a way. You are talking about raid situations and ae mobs. A good majority of the time the average player is going to be in exp groups. In exp groups the rogues damage dealing capacity is the primary thing the group cares about. In those situations dex and str are both very good to have as high as possible. Dex effects your rate of double backstab and if you have it assassinate. Str of course increases BS damage and attack. If you are not getting hit but on the rare occasion you pull aggro (not so rare in some groups but still not life threatening) and not getting AEd/casted upon, then what dif at all is your hp/resist gear making? None. That is why I think it is preferable for a rogue to have your regular set of exping gear, then your hp and resist set in bank or in wr bags on you.

i have to agree, there is no point in having your resist gear on when you dont need it. And normally resist gear is always carried on yah.

In reguards to AC/HP VS offense gear... Personally i dont have offensive gear <dex/str rings or whatever>, but i do know if your a mana sponge rogue, you are hurting the group not helping it. Overall be aware of how much mana the group is dumping into you, <buffs or heals> and if its as more than your peers, somethings wrong.

The quest calls for three FLAWLESS diamonds which can be found in Sirens Grotto, Velk's or the Dragon Necropolis.

The Corroded Chain comes off of giants in Kael (I got mine near the bank).

So far, under the new models of SoL it looks like black chain (real black - not a dark grey or a dark blue-black).

Invigorate is a self-heal (90 HP I think) and stamina refresh. (Longish casting time.)

OK, I am posting this for all you rogues. My wife plays a rogue, so I have to help you all out too, hehe.

Flawed Diamonds - Drop in several zones. Velks, Wakening, CS...several places. I hear Cobalt Scar is the best place though. Also if you get a gem for someone else's quest you can trade them. (please don't NO DROP these Verant!)

Corroded Chain Tunic - Giants in Kael.

Simple as that. I will also be posting this on the quest info page. Gems do not have to be on 55+ mobs like everyone keeps saying. I have looted 1 and seen one other drop on MObs that con blue to me from 45-48.
