Okay, trying to keep it real here, things that should actually be posted here. What camp does this drop off of, what mob does it drop off of. And if not in a given camp, then an idea of how to locate the mob and kill it. kk, thx.
Good bard helm, quite good even. Bards should be singing and charming and mezzing anyhow, which checks vs. charisma, so a helm offering 15 charisma and decent if not exciting ac as well as other stats would be quite nice for your average bard. Wait, I take that back. Your average bard uses weapons like a fool. BAH! It's the strange and unusual bards who ditch the stupid yaks and use the dam lute who get my respect.
A bard that should earn your respect changes the way he/she plays depending on the situation. I only stand back and play the lute when there is no healer and I am playing my 24pt per tick regen song while doing crowd control, buffing, slowing hasting the group and mobs, etc.
If we have a healer, then I typically melee while I do the other things minus the regen. When I can do 150 per tick meleeing, why shouldn't I get some smacks in? I melee almost as well as a monk when fully hasted.

Accually a good bard would be using his instruments except for when they are not needed and he can pull out something with a nice proc. Procs and Dex... Aye a very nice helm indeed.
I agree. But the real crux of the matter is that it's hard enough to twist songs AND instruments in battle - much more work behind the screen RL than any other class. But twisting songs, instruments, and weapons, in a battle? OMG!
You could do that, but only under the most favorable conditions. You'd be sweating like a lab rat RL behind your computer in heavy fighting. And you probably wouldn't be any more effective (probably less effective) than if you'd have just chosen instruments or weapons.
The reason is you'd have to do all that item switching within the 2.5 seconds before the song takes effect (and hope that you don't get a missed note or lag). Miss a beat, and effectiveness drops.
A Bard's instrument/weapon choice should be like twisting songs - use what's appropriate and needed, like the post above said.
Got tanks? Use instruments. You're expected to do some tanking? Use weapons. Weapons with procs. Especially when you ARE the tank (hopefully not). Make that battle as short as possible in that case, 'cause odds are you're gonna get spanked.
If yer twisting instruments for the group and the battle's nearly done, sure, whip out your weapons and keep those skills up!
It is not instument/weapon choise and exclusion that makes a good bard. I play a level 53 bard and can twist songs, instuments, and weapons fairly easily. Hooked on hotkeys worked for me!Given, I have no lag because I have a xDSL ISP so that makes things a little easier, too. I have to say though, in actuality your post is only half true. Any high level bard knows that they can do a lot more damage with their instuments than with their weapons. Bard melee - even with the last melee patch - sucks, and it probably always will. Bard DoTs are a nice taunt if you are the one tanking; which I will add, never happens at my level... unless you somehow stumbled your way into an ae group. But even then you're going to find that wizards are almost always the tank :P To conclude, what makes a good bard is song selection rather than instrument/melee exclusion. You have all these things open to you, why put them away. If you have a song that uses singing skill, no instument is needed, use your weapons. If the second in your twist series is string, pull out your lute. song 3 in the list is brass? Use your horn. And so on and so fourth. Lazy bards make bad bards.
Hey all, most that have seen the Ceremonial Sword have seen the unique look that it shows up as. I am curious as to wether this has any unique looks, or like most Velious gear, just shows up as nothing at all. It would be pretty awful if this was just a banded or plate looking helm.
