It's clickable, so it's awesome when fighting dispelling MOB's like the dragons in WW, who dispell one spell with every AE. I'll never had to crap buff there again =)
Best ring in the game by far for all tanks, since the Gem Encrusted Ring no longer drops (?). Weighs a lot for a ring, that is for sure. Anyone know what the effect does?
I gotta laugh here.. The thing gives +8 Strength.. Who cares that it weighs 1.0 .. unless your a monk. If you can't take a ring that weighs 1.0 you should really try getting some better stuff. The Players that will get this thing will already have a Strength of 150+ and propably more like 200.
8 pt damage shield, but the effect is currently broken. I believe they are trying to make the dmg shield always in effect while the ring is on, but right now you right click and get a buff icon, except it doesn't actually do anything.
I really hope the weight is bugged, 1.0 is stupid for a ring. I'd wear this instead of my gem encrusted ring anyday if they'd make it 0.1 weight.
I don't quite have mine yet -- server went down while I was trying to get it, the GMs have restored my Marching Orders so I can try again -- but my understanding was that the DS on this ring is actually a "DS bonus", which is slightly different. There's a lot of other gear (now, maybe not so much when this ring was new) that works the same way. A DS bonus applies ONLY if you already have a DS. So if you have, say, a Guardian Underfoot Gem bought using DoN crystals, it's got "DS: +5". If you have no other damage shield, there's no effect. But if you DO have a damage shield, then the gem adds +5 to it, and this ring's buff would add another +8.
Edit: Got my ring the next night, and it seems I was wrong, it really is an 8 point DS. Without the buff, mobs were taking no damage from hitting me; when I clicked the ring, they began taking 34 points (because I have 26 points of "bonus DS" gear as described above).
If you look at the thread Eorlin responded to, he doesn't mean that the ring is not for monks, he is countering the statement that the ring effectively weighs - 7, as someone had just said (1.0 weight + 8 str, max encumberance goes up by 7) but Eorlin's point is that it doesn't effectively weigh - 7 for a monk, since the max weight for a monk is irrelevant, as a monk this still impacts carrying capacity by 1 against their 14 / 18 / 22 weight limit depending on level.
regardless, as a monk myself id gladly give up 1 weight in a ring to have stats like that. i currently have 2 velium diamond rings, but for the AC and str its well worth it
I'd have to see what the effect does but I'd have to say that most of you might want velium fire opal rings instead. 8ac 8str 8vs magic versus 6ac 65hp. If the effect is right clickable maybe you could switch this ring in, cast it and switch back to the vel fire opals. Also, it'd have to depend on what you're fighting. You might need the magic resists.
depends on what you are trying to achieve. for someone able to get this ring, 8str isint a big deal either. +hp items make those C-heals MT's recieve that much more effective - one situation i can imagine wearing the 6/65 over this, not that i'll ever be asked to MT hehe.
Angelsyn, I think perhaps it is a low level character. One where 65hps is a big deal. I agree with you tho. 8str and 8 sv mag is MUCH better. Tragically Hip lvl 21 dwarven warrior
I'm lvl 58 and I'd just swap in the 8th ring for the DS while still using my 6/65... why? 65hp's > then 2ac and a couple odd stats. Is 8 str going to kill that dragon any faster? no. The MR is nice thouh, but still does not make up for 65 hps.
