Depths of DarkhollowI was looking to skill up in smithing and found the reciepe for High Quality Latch. The "Refined High Quality Ore" that is needed to make the steel should be on the NPC in the bazaar. Just inside the door to the room to the right.
When I got there ... He had none. So i "Hailed" him and he gave me a box to fill up with "Unrefined Ore". Alla shows where Unrefined dropped as being in two zones. I chose Sol-A to farm it.
Loaded up my high powered cleric and pulled the whole zone. Knocked it down. Got 4 pieces of Unrefined ore. Combined in the box and turned back in to the NPC in the Bazaar. Repop with boat loads of "Refined High Quality Ore". I spent about 30k buying it all up.
Followed the reciepe here and on EQTraders and just finished making about 100 latches. Also took me from 115 on smithing to about 145. Meanwhile, I still have 3 bags full of that Refined High Quality Ore to chisel down.
Might just sell it off :-)

Last week the wife and I decided to start smithing our Dwarven Cultural Armor. In order to improve our smithing skills we chose the cheapest recapees we could find. We did not want to fail at the combines for the cultural because of the seeming lack of warbone chip drops. We needed to get above the trivial for the BP so we chose the 155 trivial High Quality Latch.
The Latch takes a mold a file and a small peice of High Quality steel. There in lies the problem.
According to Allah and EQT .. the bottom line combine for the HQ steel is all vender sold .. 3x gnomish heat source, small block of "refined" high quality ore and a High Quality Phosporus Powder. The big problem we had was that the 4 venders that were suposed to sell a limited supply (200 each per server/reset) had the Small Block of High Quality Ore. We did not knotice that the word "REFINED" was missing ..Big Mistake Number One!
Big mistake number two ..
We had already stocked hundreds of the molds and Gnomish heat sources... headed to the last vender who sold, .. or was suposed to sell the last two items, and bought hundreds of them as well.
We marched to the forges .. and using the recapee from EQTraders put the approprate items in the forge only to get the message that these items can not be combined in this container.
Frustrated we asked questions in General Chat. We did get directed to a quest to restock venders .. but that quest did not mention the final result of the venders being restocked in "refined" ore. It does mention that money and exp is a reward and that "unrefined" ore is one of the quest items.
We also sent in a petition a peice.
Mine was direct and to the point stating date/server/name/ tradeskill/ missing component/ bla bla bla.
My wife on the other hand flat out told them that she was pissed off and threatened to quit the game if she got a cookey cutter b.s. reply for her petition.
I will give you one guess who had a GM standing in her presence within 60 seconds of her sending in the "I will quit the game" petition.
BTW. She got a stack of chocolate chip cookies. I got a typical B.S. "there is nothing wrong with the game response" .. We lost about 700pp selling ustless tradeskill items back to the vender. And, Moved on to the 188 trivial "Steel Arrowhead" Rec.
Moral of this venting spree .. If a word like "refined" is missing .. do not buy em expecting them to work in a combine!
Sory about the spelling and punctuation ... I cant.
Btw .. this is a difrent rec as the one listed on EQTraders.. also .. the last part as to how to make the HQ Steel is an endless loop of BS back and forth between two trivial 26 combines that Allah wont give you the Rec for.
