OMG
# Jul 15 2003 at 9:36 PM Rating: Default
you are all idots!! your spending like 12kpp on a weapon thats worth 2kpp i mean common look at the website before you buy it!!! i mean i got it for free!! and its an icredible weapon!! its delay really isn't that bad, at lvl 15 my sk does 95 damage on a regular basis, and its growing steadily, and the proc don't matter to an sk our spells cost almost no mana at all!! so we can just rebuff ourselves with the stealing buff thingy lol!! anyways never ever ever play over 5k for this thing its a waste...
RE: OMG
# Apr 11 2004 at 3:46 AM Rating: Default
Actually, the damage cap is still standing, but it's slightly different depending on your class. low 20's as a paladin, my cap was just knocked to 65, but before that, i couldn't pass 30
RE: OMG
# Aug 26 2003 at 5:23 AM Rating: Excellent
"at lvl 15 my sk does 95 damage on a regular basis..."

I find that hard to believe since the dmg cap from lvl 10-20 is 30dmg =P
RE: OMG
# Nov 14 2003 at 10:07 AM Rating: Default
Ya know, I'd heard about that damage cap thing too, and it seemed reasonable. However, I started an SK the other day, and with only minimal twinking, he's regularly hitting for 40-60 damage at level 19. Patog phlarg fiends just don't know what hit 'em.
RE: OMG
# Mar 27 2004 at 4:57 PM Rating: Decent
unless they recently changed it the dmg cap is still in. Not sure if there was a temporary bug that changed that or not But for almost as long as I can remember it's been 20-21dmg below lvl 10 and like 28-32dmg below 20 and i believe 20-30 its like 90-100ish dmg

Great Blade
# Jun 19 2002 at 4:59 AM Rating: Decent
The only way one could call this weapon cursded is if it's pre-nerfed and out of charges....I wish my Vindication didn't always say out of charges...i would Love the proc ! Toss up 3 weak buffs...pack on the real one's and go to work! This weapon is Great Pre-nerfed or not. I would only trade it for AP which i plan on attempting soon. Enjoy the blade people..buff up wisely..and get a haste item. I got schw's and i strait Clown with this blade, Good luck to all of you
Great Sword, in my view
# Feb 17 2002 at 10:57 PM Rating: Decent
As a Shadowknight that usually solos, i find that the only buffs i eve have are jbbots, and my self Drain-type buffs. i managed to come across this sword in a pretty good ( in my opinion) deal. for the 4k i paid for this, it cant be beat. i double in the 120's, ( and with low strength and low stamina, i love the str bonus on this thing) whereas with my Ornate Rune Blade i double in the 60's. When it debuffs my self buffs it's not a big Deal. all i do is right click Jboots and hit the buffs that it dispelled, and start whacking again. since i Fear Kite ( or reverse Kite as some of you people insist on calling it... =P) i rarely Get hit anyways.... Now on Raids, it's a Different Story. While Raiding i use an Ornate Rune Blade. ( it doesnt debuff, and it has resists.) main reason being, it doesnt take away all my nifty and much loved Cleric Buffs. ) another reason being, with Vindication, i find myself Pulling the taunt way too much for my own comfort. ( and NO i'm not one of the moronic SK's who likes to hit the taunt button in raids. ) But.... the whole point of this long winded paragraph is...

This sword is Great for the Soloing, Fear Kiting, Self Buffing SK, but NOT good for Raids.

moronic?... maybe that's cause you're 41... but when the MA loses aggro... and yes, accidents happen, it's good to know you're only one spell click away from getting it off the Enchanter/Wizard/Cleric that can't handle the punishment us ShadowKnights can take.

Besides, ShadowKnights are probably one of THE best aggro managing classes in the game... (heck my lvl 9 disease cloud is ALWAYS memmed in groups <-- uber taunt, try it)

Should you be TRYING to gain Taunt? no... but the taunt button keeps us high on the aggro list, where a good Tank is supposed to be.

I've seen alot of people say that this sword is so great for dueling because it dispels the opponents harmful effects on you. While you are correct on the function of the weapon you are mistaken on the strategy of PvP.

For 99% of all dueling or PvP situations being dispelled is a very bad thing and will lead to your death. The first thing most people are going to try to do to you is dispel all your buffs. You should get buffed with whatever u can, and as buffs drop you should be doing anything to replace them with potions, clickable items etc. Even for straight out warriors you all have a certain amount of clickable effects that you're going to self-buff with and these will all be gone. Most importantly your resist magic buff will be gone and you will be rooted, snared, blinded, charmed, dot'd, and nuked to death.

Dispelling bad things is good, dispelling everything is bad.
What a Nightmare

Thanks to the misinformation I lost 13kpp on this thing. The info says triggered it is not. It is a random proc that debuffs you all to hell. Usally this site has accurate information howerver in this case I have been burned.

Got the sword from a 45th Paladin in trade for some DW Vambrances and 1kpp =) Lucky me! I armed myslef with this sword and headed to Over There being a 39th Paladin myself. I began to literally **** rape mobs with this sword. 105, 115, 98, 85, 75, 110, 115, is a usual performance with this sword. My group loved it! The casters especially liked not wasting any mana buffing me. The stuck to the occasional heal because this sword had MOBs turning their back rather quickly. It hits slow but packs a whollop! In a skilled group you will clean up, but be sure to tell the casters not to waste mana on you.
To clarify
# Jun 13 2001 at 8:43 AM Rating: Good
Ok I got this weapon quite a while ago. Using it, it started to proc on me and dispelled me. Of course the shami and cleric got pissed after a while and so I stopped using it. Wondering if this was intented or if the sword was broken, I petitioned. A while later a guide talks to me but was of no use and told me that the Server-GM would come online at 6pm and that I should talk to him and repetition. To my suprise I get a tell from him (Server-GM Starryder on Ayonae Ro)and I am told that this was indeed intended to proc on the wielder. SO to all those still dreaming of curses or brokeness, forget it. This weapon just as the runed blade is intented to PROC on the WIELDER and nothing else. I told him that this was a waste of a good item however he told me two things : 1) Ever fighted a rooting/dotting mob ?? (Ok one for him since that was a good reason I had thought of too) 2) There are uses of a self-dispelling sword on raids and that it should be used with great care, since it can be a curse and a blessing.
Another scenario is a charming mob, you proc and are free again. The same applies for those of you who can get to and fight in Western Wastes. Almost all of those dragons dispell you anyway and buffing makes no sense, therefore this is an amazing sword to use for damage and not get your whole group annoyed at you. Ok I hope this helped to clarify about this weapon as it is INTENTED to proc on YOU.
well what do you know...
# Jun 06 2001 at 3:20 AM Rating: Default
aye this weapon may seemed cursed but....

tripple dotted and i was dieing fast and then it proced and took away the dots along with the buffs... that accually saved my *****

And consider this while dueling. If you duel starting unbuffed chances are you not gonna get your buffs up anyways.

but the part about quests to remove curses...that intriges me...

Ill still hold on to my arby but it seems that the damage im dealing far outweighs my puny paladin buffs in a normal fight. course it seems that one is a more effective fighter if they have a varied ******* of weapondry at thier disposal to begin with.

just food for thought.

I won this on a raid. It dropped off a named drake in the Library area. At 45, I hit for 100 damgage average and max hit for 150. To correct a post earlier, it is a random proc. It will strip you of all your buffs and will not always remove the first buff. Being a SK I was wondering, most of my buffs are the Debuff spells, i.e. Syphon STR, Shrowd of Hate, Shadow Vortex, when this procs and they drop, does the mob stay debuffed also? I think I'll have to duel some one to find out.

Drache says dont /cry
# May 06 2001 at 4:17 AM Rating: Default
Please stop arguing like star trek nerds. The stats and resists are nice and damage is insane(delay not too bad).Debating intelligently is one thing, /cry is another.I like this weapon and own it,it has its purpose, if you dont like its purpose, buy a weapon with the statistical value that you admire.Different weapons and effects of those weapons add FLAVOR to the game, take the good with the bad. Thanks for reading this to the end if you are one of those who /whine and cry.
Illogical
# May 05 2001 at 9:46 AM Rating: Default
Okay, just got this incredible weapon Thursday night, May 3rdand gave it to my Paladin the next day. Damage it does for a level 51 Paladin is awesome. However, much to my surprise, the proc, Cancel Magic, did not work on mobs, but on me. Stripped me clean of buffs. Petitioned to see if a bug. Wrote a bug report. Went to Chat Room. Here is what I was told by GM - Pilken. "The weapon is designed correctly. When you do high level raids you will discover why." Hmmmm. A bit evasive, so I pressed on. Basically, the weapon is a limited use weapon for when a mob casts a spell upon you and you need to cancel its effect upon yourself. This seems to be its primary use, but as such, ssure seems a waste and demonstrates lack of logical thinking on the part of the Verant designer. Why give me a weapon with great stats, that does tremendous damage, but which strips me of all my buffs? Warpped humor? So, I guess I will carry this thing in my backpack on the if chance I get invited to a "high level raid," and on the if chance a mob casts a spell on me that I need to remove. Gee, I'm hoping for more of such limited, illogical items from Verant. Armor that gives incredible strength, AC, and HP, but only when worn at night in E Commons.

The use of this Blade
# May 01 2001 at 1:12 PM Rating: Decent
I had just gotten one recently. I found out the weapon is awsome for dueling.Just make sure you dont buff yourself before the battle. When the other class is a caster that hits you with a DoT you can cancel it out with the Vindication. I Works real well with the SK class. I had beaten the heal out of a Necro with this Blade. Everytime the Necro would cast spell's on me like Dooming Darkness I would cancel it out,or he tried to hit me with a DoT I would cancel it out.
Yes the Blade takes away the buffs, but when you get hit with nasty spell's you can also cancel them out very easy with the Vindication. Not really a curse weapon , it's just kinda balanced in a way ...This Sword is awsome againts caster's
Nice Try!
# May 03 2001 at 11:47 PM Rating: Default
Yeah, the effect is cancel magic, NOT Counteract Poison or Cure Disease. The effect wont cure DOTS my Friends. Dont try this at home unless you're in a hurry to Die. This sword swings to slow to make any sence. You need a Fbss, CoF and an Enchanter giving you a speed buff just to use it.
RE: Nice Try!
# May 10 2001 at 10:14 AM Rating: Good
Should strip anything that has a spell icon.

FBSS and CoF won't do anything. You only benefit from one item haste effect.

Picked up one of these bad boys on morell for 10K yesterday. The guy had been selling it for 25K and got so tired of getting laughed at that he finally let it go for it's actuall worth. Damn proc is broken though, took away my Sow. ****

Oh well. Not to bad, but you can make a pot of coffee between swings. Delay REALLY sucks!

You hit Sargeant Slate for 99 points
You hit Sargeant Slate for 87 points
Sargeant Slate hits YOU for 115 points
Sargeant Slate hits YOU for 105 points
Sargeant Slate hits YOU for 45 points
Sargeant Slate says "You can swing sometime today if you want"
Sargeant Slate hits YOU for 110 points
Sargeant Slate hits YOU for 59 ponts
Sargeant Slate says "Well?"
Sargeant Slate takes your precious Sword away, breaks it over his knee and says "DAMNIT BOY GET A REAL SWORD!"
Sargeant Slate says "Your name will be added to Freeports most stupid list for wasting Ten Thousand Platinum on this worthless weapon.
Sargeant Slate commences to giving you the worse *** whoopin you have EVER recieved.

There ya go

Hi all i picked one up Saturday...payed 12kp for it. First ..yes it is cursed..that is a good thing. Hope it stays that way..If you you use this sword right yea can't go wrong..As far as debuffing your self it will so what i do is put to low mana buffs..resist deases resist poison as examples..then i buff my self with the good stuff.
when i lose the first 2 buffs i just hit yulp 2 or what ever i vcan cast while fighting...this has worked every time and i was fighting all day and night...t5he great thing about this is when you get dotted it will go to the first open buff slot...and guess what when the sword procs it will remove that bad dot =) so if used right this is the sword =0) as far as it being random as to what slot it removed 99% of time the first 2 great odds don't ya think?
