Got this today off of Xalgoz, while getting HS key. It is lore but not no drop.
is this no-drop now?

Somebody gave my lvl 6 frogger warrior this sword for the simple task of collecting a few spiderling silks...he has yet to let go of it some 13 lvls later. People can say this is better that or that is better than this, but if you've got it, and it's a helluva lot better than anything you'd otherwise have ot your level, why complain about it. Plus, it does look pretty awesome, especially on a frogger when he has to put his entire body into swinging that bad daddy. Wooof!

Xalgoz Blade sux **** compared to Abram's Axe of the Stoic ( https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4367 ) and on Saryrn i have seen Abram's for as low as 100p, becuase its so easy to get. Don't bother with Xalgoz Blade at all the stats suck nowa days.

I don't think you know how much better a BABS is than this do you? BABS weighs 2.5... This weighs 7, if you take three weight out for the +3Str. 23/40 on this versus 24/36 on BABS... And you chose this because it looks better? If you want looks, go for a Validus Custodius Two hander.

why use this over a BABS? because of the damage bonus...BABS is 24/39, missing the damage bonus of 2handers with 40 delay or higher...this weapon, or better yet a dark edged 2hander (the weight is killer, but the stats rock too) are both superior to a BABS in that respect...and the damage bonus easily makes up for the 1 point of damage and delay that the BABS has...oh yeah, and Dark edged 2handers look Bad-***, dunno about this, but if you want stats and looks, go with the dark-edged 2hander...you get over the 15 stone weight, and if you're a big race, it really doesn't matter...just my 2 cp
Ok I know this is an old post but that is just plain retarded. 1 Real damage is > then the bonus damage from 1 delay. Plus on top of that babs is more dps because its faster. Overall I am disapointed that the sword off a lv 40 is worse then the sword off a lv 20 :o

It has about the same stats as a BABS, i might trade my BABS for one of these since it looks cooler =)

I got this from a newbie who I had helped out by buying some stuff for him and a couple of months later, he gives this sword to me for free! Very nice upgarde from my Axe of frost although I still use it a bit.

I traded for the BoX with an Axe of the Frost I had and have never looked back. This sword has helped me zoom through the low 30s on Luclin, where I was hitting for up to 70hp per blow and 130+ on double attack. May all you pallies have the good fortune to run across this piece because it's well worth having.

logged on to my alt to do some selling and while at the bank in the bazaar someone /ooc'ed that he was giving away the BoX. I did not know what it was at the time but thought what the heck and told him i would take it and that was that. Wow nice sword cant wait to use it now.

Someone was camping Xalgoz for the staff - This sword kept dropping, so a nice fellow gave it to my alt, and non-twinked Iksar Warrior. No sweat off his back, he got the sword again on the next kill. It's lore, and all, so why not give it away.

I had a warrior give me the BoX in Upper Guk for 50 pp. I almost fell over. He said he had been trying to get rid of it forever. Am I nuts? Is there a problem with this sword? I can't wait to hit 20 to see what dam it does for my Troll SK.

Yes, the BABS is indeed one point better in dmg and dly, but the BABS looks like a 2-handed dagger. It's kinda goofy if you ask me.
The Blade of Xalgoz however is long and wide, very cool looking. The +3STR IMO neutralizes the point of damage lost and the increased dex doesn't hurt.
IMO, looks are next to everything. How else are you going to sway a nice wood-elf lady? Are you gonna impres her with your little 2-handed dagger or this impressive looking piece of magic steel?

I'll agree that this blade is very similiar to the BABS in actual damage done including the strength stats and the damage bonus. However, let us not forget that the BABS is extremely lightweight (hardly ever run low on stamina) and doubles as a light source for all those night-blind paladins out there. Given the good looks of this blade, it's a very close call which would probably come down to price and availability at the moment of purchase.
You're more likely to impress that nice wood-elf lady swing a 2-hander, alright... but I'm not talking about a sword! =~)

Also as BABS is only 39 delay, it loses the damage bonus that Xalgoz has.

A friend gave me this blade for my Ranger Suiko, although I may have actually had one on my warrior on Bristlebane, can't remember. It's pretty decent as far as damage, but I miss alot, even with a maxxed out (for my level) 2H slash. When I do land a thwack with it, it hits pretty hard, I was seeing dmg in the high 80's as a norm.

I got mine from a Bard in Lake of Ill Omen for 250pp. I got a really good deal. The damage bonus is 10 at level 43.

I just picked one of these up last night on MT for 480pp, I slept with it under my pillow. It is a nice upgrade from my LoW. I can't wait to try it out on some gnolls in Paw.

I traded a HQ bear pelt for one of these on my alt. server this morning...the guy who had it said he was tired of playing his warrior, and offered it and a Paineel BP to me for 2 HQ pelts.
I only had one at the time, so he took it, and gave me the BoX and the BP, and said to pay him the other skin later. Geeze...and I'd never seen or heard of either of them. I think I'll go see what the BP goes for. Somedays it just pays to get out of bed early to play EQ, I guess....
Update: While passing through Freeport with my half-elf warrior on my way to HHP,(on my home server, Quellious, ) I heard one being Auctioned,
and being of a naturally inquisitive nature, inquired after the price. His response was 175pp, and I immediately told him I was OMW to the bank, to stop auctioning it, it was sold. 8) So now both my warriors have this weapon, and I'm a very happy camper. The price seems to have come down by at least half, on my home server, anyway.

this blade is ok its not the best in the game but ill do hehhehe at lvl30 i hit for bout 80s and 70s so thats good
