I'm tryin to do this quest. i found sentry kale (the drake) I hailed him. . .it was the bracer of hammerfall quest. No sweat I kill him and waited. Spawned and same thing "Ok newt time I'll get it," killed him again. . .same stuff. . .another 30mins pass SAME THING. . . .I'm not sure if he ives it out anymore. I'd love to kill him all week but the faction hits not worth the trouble.
The zone was redone so maybe the quests have been moved?
In anycase, did you try typing in the correct key phrase? It's something along the lines of "I am a friend", or "I am willing to help" or something along those lines. Generally you can get the quest item just by uttering the key phrase, regardless what they tell you from the initial hail.
That's annoying... I have the Dispelling Device from Wenglawks to hand in, and Sentry Rotiart was on Track after the Skyshrine Revamp. I suppose I can see if the "Drake" form of Sentry Kale still gives a reward though.
Sentry Kale, as a Drake, can indeed still give this Quest out (I believe the key phrase was "I am willing"), but unfortunately it seems to be broken - Rotiart takes the Dispelling device, and you get the quest text about how he falls to the ground then his shape changes to that of a Kromriff Warrior, but nothing spawns.
I just did this quest this morning and the spy did spawn, but he doesn't spawn in place of Rotiart. Instead he spawns up past the maze and Yelnik. I took him down with myself (55 monk), 54 warrior, 54 Ranger, 54 chanter, and a 55 paladin. Once we landed slow, he was easy. However, he didn't drop the note as walkthrus suggest. Just some lore, no-drop skull. I tried turning this in to Kale, but no luck. I'm amiable, but not max ally, so this might have something to do with not getting the note, but I will be petitioning to find out. Also can't get the quest again now until I become max ally.
*UPDATE* This is not the spy I fought. The one I fought is used in the spell: Hsagra's Wrath. So it apppears you must have at least kindly, if not max ally faction to get Rotiart to spawn as traitor even if you had the dispelling device from before the SS faction change.
Ok me and Gf just did this.Havent kiled spy yet but giving to Wenglawk is easy as hell.First off pull and kill the wolf outside.is green to me at 55.Secondly pull and kill the giant right behind the door u only have to walk up u do not have to open door for him to agro.He is also green. after that walk inside if u stand back and con the 3 red giants u will see they r dub and not attack. Both of my giant factions are as low as they can get no changes anymore. They are still Dub and wenglawks is Indifferent.Long as you kill the wolf and the ginat behind door so they dont agro u u will have no problems inside.
I WISH this thing would become no drop. I got mine alrdy after being killed like 20 times and it's not right that people can just buy this thing for 2k without any work.
Knowing that mobs can not move until they are done casting their current spell, I waited until Noble Hassen was casting his damage shield, THEN became uninvis and handed Weng the note. By the time the Noble was done casting, I had my dispeller, and I was on my way out ;)
Im not sure, but i think NPC bards dont sing bard songs, im almost positive of this, cause i know the bards in HHK dont sing at all, just punch for 112..too bad real bards cant do that, hehe

1) Interesting piece of data here. You can turn in the thing you get after killing the giant spy (spy report?) to any version of Kale. I gave it to the version that asks for spider legs.
2) If you are a friend of the giants, check out the collar of the storm quest. It weighs twice as much but the stats are actually slightly better.
3) You can kill the giant spy that spawns from Rotiart with one group averaging in the low 50's if it is moderately well balanced. It does not have to be a perfect group. My group consisted of two monks (I was one of them), a level 56 paladin tank, a mage (and his water pet), a shaman (for healing and buffs and slowing giant), and a rogue. We ground him down in about 1.5 to 2.0 minutes. He runs for it just before he dies, but we didn't let him get far. We probably could have gotten by with one less back-up tank. Doing it with just four of us would have been quite risky.
4) In order to give the item to Wengelawks, the SAFEST way is to wait until he wanders around. His path takes him through that passageway near the noble house that goes back towards the EW entrance. He returns through the same passage. He is non-KOS to everyone I hear BUT will assist anything that attacks you (I found this out the hard way). So be careful if there are other giants, wolves, etc. nearby. One guy told me he camped the passage-way three days in a row waiting for Wengelawks to wander by. This is not the method I used, but someone DID use this technique five minutes before I entered the zone. I was impatient and used the following, dangerous technique. I used invisibility potion and entered the room inside the noble house where there is a high level giant caster who faces Wengelawks. I went into sneak mode while invisible and made sure it was working. I got behind Wengelawks and had an accomplice who was friends with the giants to get behind the noble giant caster (red to me at 50) and hail him until he turned to face him. This took literally hundreds of attempts until I realized that he was not far enough behind the giant. He had to open the door behind the giant to get back far enough to make him turn. When the caster faced away, I made the trade. I had used my last invisibility potion at this point, so I had to run for it. I made it safely. The caster nuked me for 600 points by the way. I used FD-flopping to work my way out of the zone. I would recommend using a second invisibility potion while the caster's back is turned and walking out safely that way. Don't try this if you can't sneak!!! Don't try this if you don't have a way to get by the caster safely! (invisibility, FD, etc.)
We killed Rotiart Giant with me (55 war), a 53 and a 54 Monk with Fungi Tunics, and a 54 Chanter. Monks took turn taking aggro, I only got hit like 3 times, no healing needed, just beat him to death. Piece of cake IMO. Killed him at least 6 times now, success each time.
As for getting the device in Kael Noble house, just FD next to the non-KOS giant, wait until the giant across from him starts to self-buff, then stand up, hand in the money, and get the item, then FD again. That way the KOS giant never gets a chance to aggro. Done it this way twice now with my 36 Iksar Monk.
My friend gave me mine, couldnt or didnt want it for his 60 rogue. Like a dummy, I've used 2 charges already for dumb reasons ( against Dervs in S. Ro at lvl 9) I always wear it so I dont know if it recharges in the bank, might try it. Nice, especially for free ;)
I heard somewhere that most items with "charges" in them can get 'em back after a week of game time. Is this true? Haven't been in contact with enough items with charges to find out.
Short question: do charges recharge, or is charge loss permanent?
I think the auto recharge items are like the summon food an water crystals.. that you just toss in bank for a week an it's charged up or something.. but not all items can be recharged.. and if it can.. it's usually a small side quest to do so
actualy, this is a nice monk and warrior item too. its good for everyone that can use it really. who wouldnt want 5str, 30hp, and some resists, all coupled with a low weight? even us burly warriors dont mind using an item under 1 wt. lets us carry more ph4t l3tz :)
