This was from a normal wyvern in SS near the maze up top............the 50hp 25mana with the bonus stats of 6int/cha own.

This is not a Quest Item... I looted it two nights ago off of a Named Wyvern before the First telepad past the Grand Ramp hall (my own name for the area). I have spent the last couple weeks raiding this wonderful zone and with 1 balanced group all over level 50 you can have a Blast hunting and getting totally awesome RANDOM loots. I have looted the same items off of completely random mobs, so stick with it and kill everything.. OH, the stats are wrong, it is 7 str and agility, and only 6 intelligence and 6 charisma.

All the rest of the stuff sucks, so no one wants to wear it, now that something doesn't, all the bards complain. Whateverm let us casters have our fun. Whatya want next, Ice Comet!

I don't know, it seems fitting to be a Caster only item. There are plenty of gear for melee-types with stats to make up for sacrifices to increase resistances, but there is a lack for casters. While a caster can increase resistances by quite a bit, they sacrifice intelligence and in doing so, mana, the foundation of a caster. Having 40 less hp or 1 less strength to a bard can be made up by songs and equipment, and bards now get disciplines as well. So...it's fitting.

Lets face there simply are no great caster shoulder iteams in the game. At least not any that are pre-velious. So now something good is put in and the bards what a crack at it. Im sorry but this item is Caster only now go back to singing your pathetic little song and leave me alone.

While bards are a great addition to any group, they can solo better than most classes in the game. Since many people know very little about bards, I'll be nice and lay out a few techniques.
First, you have to remember that a soloing bard has little or zero down time. With the exception of a few songs, bards do not use mana. Pick any three songs and a talented bard can used them indefinitely. Even if it takes you 4 or 5 minutes to kill a mob, you're still killing it in about the same amount of time that it takes a soloing casting to kill and med. Now on to the techniques.
Level 12: At level 12 you get your first dd song. Most look at the damage it does and laugh, but when you twist this with selos you can dd for 2 ticks then speed for one. This technique will be effective for the rest of your characters life versus non casting mobs up to 4(can go higher if you're desperate) levels higher than you.
Level 23: Now you have snare. This doesn't really change things at this level, but snare will be needed for future techniques and can also(although risky) allow you to kite in smaller areas when needed.
Level 26: Fear. Yet another dangerous technique, but as any necro will tell fear kiting is a very effective.
Level 27: Charm. Your life will never be the same. Charm does not cost any mana until this song becomes obsolete in the upper thirties. I have cleared the entire aviak house in south k (all except for top level) using charm. What level you ask? 29.
Level 28: Mezz. Although there isn't technique that really uses this song, it will help when breaking apart multiple mobs and makes life on the bard easier.
Level 30: Target DoT. This really helps the kiting go faster. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on a MM drum, this song can cut the time it takes to kite in half at least.
Level 32: Mana song. We're talking about soloing so need to give anyone else mana =)
My bard is only level 35 so the rest will be based on research, not personal experience.
Level 38: Yet another target DoT. Kiting continues.
Level 39: New Charm. This one takes mana but can still be very useful. Hats off to Soeb of Luclin. When we did Naggy raids, I've witnessed him keep as many as 3 giants occupied while the other 20+ people focused on killing one.
Level 46: Yet another target DoT. See a pattern?

well i am glad tosee you use theword most in there because bards are alright soloers but
i have never seen a bardbe able to solo a icegiant at lvl 41 while i myself as a necro have done so
i am now lvl 48in less then a week of soloing icegiants
so yeah bards are ok

hey idiot, the day it takes my necro 4-5 minutes to kill a mob and med back up is the day i quit eq.
I can kill dark blue mobs nonstop and not even drop below 80 life/mana.

Guessing this is like Thurgadin and Kael -- result from a quest ... or kill the quest-giver, and drops as a rare.
