Some of these posts show such ignorance. Sure, to us uber d00ds this robe sucks. But to a lvl 10 chanter non-twink (without a high level alt), this is well worth saving up a few thousand CP and SP for. There are still plenty of people new to EQ and will pay decent prices for decent armor. Not everyone has a lv59 main who can farm stuff for all his alts.

It reminded me of hunting in PAW and watching people letting the split-paw stuff just rot away. To newbies, the split-paw armor is wonderful, and well worth the 10-20pp they will offer (and can afford) for it.

If you don't believe me, try this:

Go into the EC-mart and auction stuff saying "NEWBIE ITEMS- 100pp and below..." I guarantee that you will get a zillion tells from the little ones. You'll feel like an *** for all the times you dumped lowbie armor as worthless. Then sit back and watch the same 15 people auctioning their Fungis for the last 836365 hours.

Selling lowbie stuff is better than giving it away as people will feel like they accomplished something when they work for it. I never give stuff away for nothing. At the very least, I create small player-events for newbies to earn the stuff. Even fetching me a stack of spider legs for a velium sword makes the game fun for both parties.

getting the robe
# Jun 25 2001 at 3:13 PM Rating: Decent
Do you think a lvl 20 chanter with Benevolence and all PC illusions (no mob illusions) could get in and buy this without dying?

Which illusion would be best?

Thanks

heh. Unless they've changed the factions since you can do it easily. My level 12 enchanter went in and bought one. I cast Alliance on the recruit at the entrance, then went into gnome form and invised. Stayed invis until right in front of merchant, then cast illusion to turn into a torch, Alliance again on all the merchand, and the merchant was happy to sell to the friendly talking torch. (stupid giants :p Then just gated out. Used to make spare cash buying these and then selling them at about a 50% mark-up to non-enchanters. Haven't tried this in months, so it may not work anymore, but at the time...
Don't be a dumbass it drops...

Pure White
# Jan 08 2001 at 12:47 AM Rating: Decent
This is a pure white robe with no texture. Bought it from a giant merchant in Kael Drakkal for 19pp, saw what it looked like, then sold it back to merchant for 2pp.

Actually, I have a screencap of Rae in this, and it's a bright yellow color, all yellow. (Think banana...as one of my guildmates so cleverly nicknamed me...)

Got lots of compliments on it as well...outnumbered the complaints a good 6-1. (-8

At the time it was better than what I had. I personally have no knowledge of where it came from but it beat my +1 mana by a bit.

Someone probably sold this to the vendor you saw. Int plus 2 robe as a regular item on vendors for 19 plat would be pretty unbalancing.
not unbalancing
# Dec 20 2000 at 4:32 PM Rating: Default
Not really unbalancing, since (as far as I understand, i don't actually own SoV yet) you'll be around lvl 30+ before you can even make it to the zone to buy it. Of course, if ou made the trip early on and survived, it would be a good help.

# Dec 20 2000 at 6:16 PM Rating: Decent
Yah, by the time you get to KD to buy this thing, you'll already have your very own Int +3 robe from elsewhere... <snicker>
