I just started this quest and i have a 53 pally. do you have to go to each one of theres monsters and get a different rune?? or can you just camp redwind and wait till he drops all four. Cause that guy in lfay is a butt to find i dont have tracking!!
Where I found it
# Feb 16 2003 at 12:44 AM Rating: Decent
Found one on a Deathly Usher at the spa in Castle Mistmoore. Dont know which it is.

watch out for this guy, even with snare on him, he still runs (flies) pretty fast. If he resists snare dont even try to run away unless you got selos or an expensive horse. Other than that, he is just as easy as the other griffons
does this mean?
# Jul 06 2002 at 3:16 AM Rating: Decent
if i understand right this little bugger drops all the sides... so... i wouldn't had to deal with redwind... but the question is how do you tell one peice from another? just hope you get lucky? or have a friend that can cast identify on it and turn in the stuff for you?

No this does not mean he drops all 4 runes. It means he drops a rune and this posting is about all 4 runes. Thistle only drops the Right Rune. And yes, they are 100% indistinguisable by sight, Identify will tell you which is which though for combines to make the armor.

I was wondering, cause i am having help with my armour here, is the rune a nodrop. I got members of my guild all over Norrath and if its not, they said they can loot these pieces for me. Any help would be grateful on those that have got one.
Thank you.

i found it on a griffawn named Grimfeather in North Karana near the tower near Gipsses
#Kylwen, Posted: May 01 2001 at 10:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Check this out.. an actual down to earth good post. Thanks for the info on the identify. that will be handy since i got my first rune from redwind, and it just said rune of ivy. No worries though.. I just turned it in with the other stuff and got my first Ivy bracer.. A good feeling not being a twink to make this happen. Rangers are so cool.

Any caster with an identify spell, or a Bard with the identify song Lyssa's Cataloguing Libretto will allow you to identify which rune you are holding on your
mouse pointer. As I am a Bard, i will give the procedure for Bards. You must have the item on your mouse pointer, the Bard must target YOU and start to sing the song (it does require an instrument i think, forget which one), then tells you to right click.
When you right click and hold down, the information box pops up and tells you which rune you are holding.

you four of these damned things?

do they need to be combined or something? does the questor have room for all five items in the give screen?

There are 4 parts to the Rune of Ivy- top, bottom, left, and right. Each part is for a separate Ivy Etched Armour quest. They are not labeled as to which piece it is, so you have to remember what you looted it off of or get someone to Identify it for you.

One for each piece of armor. They're turned in separately, so you don't need to collect all 4 at once. Careful though, because they all look the same and have the same description. It's easy to get them confused in your inventory. I'm not sure if the wizard 'identity' spell would work to figure out which is which.

I forget the name but its a close to named flying creature in northern karana, someone killed it, and I got the loot cause no one in their group was a ranger.

The MOBs name is Grimfeather, and is around level 37. Anyone that's fought griffon's, etc. knows that they hit hard, so be prepared.
Where do you find it?

It is refreshing to know that some of you have this item, but where did you find it. I will look for more info on the subject, but if someone would be so kind as too let the rest of us in on how to get this item it would be most appreciated.

Yours hopefully

You might want to explain what you mean by (all sides) to those of us who are still somewhat newbiefied :)
RE: Rune of Ivy
# Feb 15 2001 at 2:59 PM Rating: Default
The various Ethced Ivy quests require different sides of this rune, for example the Bracer requires the Bottom side, etc.

Just been lumped together to avoid half a dozen differnt, nearly identical entries.

By mistake I put the rune from Redwind, and rune from the Deathly Usher in the bank and forgot which was which. Is there any way to find out, which one is which or does the NPC who gives the quest mention it as you hand him the items? I know you can't have someone identify them, they are no drop. Is there anywhere to buy a potion to identify? I dont want to have to get these items all over again. ACK!!

Hold a rune in your pointer (hand) and have an identify spell cast on you. This will tell you what rune you have. I had to do this too ).
