I've been playing this game for 5 years and have yet to enter PoT. That's not due to lack of effort. I have all the basic flags, just not the elemental planes. It's unfortunate that all the good folk in the game haven't found a common thread for partnerships that develop character advancement seperate from the fanatics that manage the majority of "uber" guilds. It would be nice for a change to combine simple fun and in-game success seperate from all the digital politics that most "uber" guilds carry. Just the concept of "applying" for a guild makes me lol let alone meet certain criteria like when i need to be on, the number of hours i'm required to play, shared account info....I will pass. I would much prefer to continue with the friends & family guilds and oogle the "what if..." game pieces just for the peace of mind of knowing that I'm not beholding to a bunch of donkey's ******* Something important to note is that I am reasonably confident that sony/verant have forgotten us. Anyone ever notice that there hasn't been a GM in game addressing issues in months if not yrs. We have been left to the mercy of the developers who happen to also be the the manager's of the uber guilds, who happen to be the old GM accounts, who happen to also run the IGE plat & item auction pages. Only thing that would affect these people's utopia is if everyone stopped playing and they had to get a job ;O)
There are open raiding arrangments on some servers that have made it to Anguish. Most servers have open raids on PoTime. If your server doesn't why not start one?
EQ is a game that has a distinct progression orientated concept. You progress through levels, gear, AA's by "conquering" the various zones / expansions. Some raiding guilds have application processes for good reasons (see below). If you aren't happy with your personal progression, make some goals and look for opportunities to meet those goals! If you enjoy the guild you are in, great! If you're current guild is in need of some assistance with moving beyond a certain point (EP into TIME into GoD), one suggestion is to look for guild alliances and raid together (perhaps a TIME / beginners GoD guild is willing to help "backflag" your members so that you can help them later). If you are interested in upgrading gear quicker than your current guild can offer, IMO find a different guild with raid times / attendance guidelines that suit you.
OK - LONG POST INCOMING!!
I've also been playing for 5 years + and just recently went to Plane of Time for my first time (guild raided Time to help gear up new applicants). I was only flagged for EP access, but was able to piggy back in. My new guild I joined is described as a "family type" guild that raids 6 days a week with non-mandatory attendance. I see no clowns in my new guild, only quality people who are driven to PROGRESS through the game. A year ago they were backflagging to get people EP access. Now I have witnessed my guild kill the mob boss Tunat in Tacvi (end GoD zone). We have also flaged many members for Citadel of Anguish! IMO, Ubber guilds keep themselves going at a certain pace with one major goal in mind - PROREGSSION!
I came to the realization that my character was old, yet not geared properly for this day and age. Therefore I moved from one family guild to another. I looked and searched for opportunities to join a "higher level" raiding guild and am happy I did. I have learned more about raiding tactics, zones, and gear in 3 weeks than I have in 2+ years. I have also significantly upgraded several slots, obtained alt access to PoTime, PoFire, and am close to getting myself flaged for Citadel of Anguish myself!
Everquest has so many facets to the game itself. But speaking purely from an "Ubber guild" discussion, IMO some guilds REQUIRE certain flags / AA's for three reasons I can think of atm. 1) It cuts down on need for backflagging. 2) It assures classes have preferred AA's that make them more useful (ie. healing / cure / Defensive). 3) It weeds out slackers that are known to have poor playing style (ie. KS'ing or past RUDE behavior).
It appears quite a bit of new content in recent expansions are driven for groups (GoD, DON, DOD missions / Expeditions). But obviously you need the group to be geared for those. Ubber gear is obtained through raiding (team concept again). If you're raiding PoP, that's content that is several years old. It's hard to get more quality people into a PoP guild for EP / Time progression since: 1) Many have been there / completed it already, 2) those many wish to PROGRESS through more recent expansions, and 3) more than a few people left EQ for other games (ie. World of Warcraft, EQ2).

The in game /petition command has been replaced by the knowledge base and the "ticket" petition. Did you notice it was ALWAYS a GM that answered those? I've had GM's respond with answers and even log onto my server to resolve issues when needed.
I agree. I have been in the same boat. Been playing for 6 years total. I tried to join a "uber guild" about 2 years ago after 4 years of family/friend guilds. It flopped...they were all arrogant ******** and completly ruined the experience for me. I spent alot of time on sites like this before that wishing I could see high end content. They almost took that away because I was feeling the same way lacerator felt. Until the big server merger last year. I was on Karana and we got merged with Rathe. Rathe is a ***** btw. Raiding guilds on Rathe are ran by a trilogy. They grab any decent sized guilds that form and absorb them. These 3 guilds are HUGE and take what they want as far as targets go. Small guilds dont have a shot at anything.
Now you are thinking "what changed your mind?" One word..../movelog lol Me and my friends/family moved to Drinal and we immideatly joined a raid guild that was preogressing thru EP's and working on Getting into Time.
We are now, at this very moment actually, doing Inku'Ta. Which gets you tino Txevu which is just before Tacvi. Yes..I died lol and I am windowed typing :P
But my point...not all uber guilds are asses. Just try a few til you find one you like.
So look Magic damage, long spell So its only the only Magic dot we have that is affected For that you sacrifice the Time BP that work with the cold nuke. Not sure if the trade off is good. Will depend if other slots have a cold focus on.
Time BP is overrated, better Foci are coming with the new expansion. I'm not sure I'll trade time BP for this, I will wait to see what comes out with the higher zones in GoD and what exactly is in the new Expansion.
Lucy's seems to have two entries for Discordant Energy.
Follow the link here and it says: 1: Increase Spell Damage by 45% 2: Limit: Max Level(65) 3: Limit: Effect(Hitpoints allowed) 4: Limit: Min Duration(30.00 sec) 5: Limit: Spell Type(Detrimental only) 6: Limit: Target(AE PC v1 excluded) 7: Limit: Target(PB AE excluded) 8: Limit: Target(Targeted AE excluded) 9: Limit: Target(Uber Giants excluded) 10: Limit: Target(Uber Dragons excluded) 11: Limit: Resist(Magic allowed)
Lucy's other entry on Discordant Energy says: Slot Description 1: Increase Mana by 3 per tick 2: Increase Hitpoints by 3 per tick 3: Increase ATK by 15 4: Increase Damage Shield by 3
I'd prefer the second one, honestly. But I could see a lot of people having FT maxed by the time they get something like this, so unless the 3 mana per tick doesn't count toward the FT max, it wouldn't be as useful to them.
But even Lucy's says that the first entry is what's on the tunic. Oh well. . .
There is no such thing as an "FT cap". The cap of 15 concerns any worn mana regeneration. You can see that clearly now, since the cool names was removed from a lot of gear.
Yea must be nice to be in guilds that can do this stuff. I have played this game for 2 years or so and have yet to ever get a guild that can do anything more then take vindi. Pretty much all the elemental flagged and better guilds don't want nothing to do with anybody unless your a friend of a friends or some bs.
I personally wish I hadn't bought this expansion. I feel its falsely advertised. They advertised it as for level 50+, but there is really only 1 zone a 50+ can hunt, and that is Natimbi. PRetty much anything past that you can just forget about. Most of it is just playgrounds for the few elite guilds out there that can take this crap. Big waste of money for your average player.
Pretty much all the elemental flagged and better guilds don't want nothing to do with anybody unless your a friend of a friends or some bs.
This is generally NOT true. Most high-end guilds simply have very strict application requirements. My guild, for instance, is only looking for specific classes, and everyone that applies must have 4-5 basic PoP flags such as Behemoth, PoN Hedge, etc...
Anyone can apply to the guild as long as recruiting is open to your class, and everyone must go through our application process as a member of our application guild.
If a high-end guild isn't letting people in odds are they don't NEED anyone, and you can't fault them for not letting people in just so you can be in their guild.

Seems like everyone that wants to rag on this guy for stating the truth are all people that are in "uber" guilds. I mean...it's really easy to talk about how its pie to be in time if you are in a time guild. Try playing since the game came out and not being farther than PoTa. And the only reason I got MB was because I actually joined a EP flagged guild for 2 weeks. But after seeing what greedy back stabbing assmonkeys they were I left. And to re-ittirate onl how big of an assmonkey guild it was...the leader told everyone he kicke dme out..instead of the truth which was I got into it with him and left.
Now I may be a lil pissed cause I havent seen the biggest and best of the game yet, but if it means I have to put up with fookin pricks all day...I'd rather just go raid crushbone. I am ina more fmaily oriented guild that is hardly big enough to even do Vindi. But I am happy because we have fun. Getting recruits and becoming a EPish guidl is damn near impossible anymore. Everyone wants to jump right into a big guild. They don't want to have to work for anything. It's not enough that they didnt have to grind xp and struggle for groups like us back in the day in KC and Seb and heaven forbid sol B lol...They get plvl'd by there buddies from 1-25 in PC...get twinked out and speed thru the lvls then hit 65 in 3 months or less and have the nerve to turn around and say they dont want to work for flags..that they want to be ina guild that is already EP+...WTF
And I would bet money that half you fookers that are flaming this guy are just like that..less that year old toons that had buddies who were 65 and plvl'd / twinked you to 65.../rude
I disagree, the instanced zones, Qinimi, Riwwi, and sort of Ferubi, can all be done by yer average joe, and you can still get some ver nice loot. You don't HAVE to be in a time/elemental type guild to get good stuff in GoD. To get the time-quality stuff, yes, you need to raid, but there's stuff easily on par with elemental gear that can drop from pretty mundane mobs that a pickup group should have no problem with.
Now stop drooling and look more carefully... Slot 8... Result of a Raid event...
Soooo... we're looking at a Time difficulty or higher raid. If you're wearing ornate or thurg, you're not going to see this for a good long time, you have a very long road ahead of you. Some of the drops out of Time and the harder LDoN raids are of comparable quality, so this is nothing new. Granted it's something to strive for, let's be realistic... If you haven't done Time, you're not likely to see this ever until you do.
Whatever this comes from, you are definitely going to need gear that's ALMOST as good as this, so you can get your small upgrade up to this. That's how gear works, you don't go from leather tunic to elemetal, there's a few steps in the middle, and it's exactly the same with this and every other piece of awesomely amazing gear from the new expansion.
bah, skip thurg tunic. Just go find a necro around 58ish and go get Elysian Tunic. Just snare a elysian remains and have the necro charm him. Then you pull in elysians to kill and keep the pet healed up as best you can. You'll have a full suit of elysian in no time. I'm 65 stil wearing most of mine until I get my VT gear :)
lublub Geellil
p.s. no matter how much you say "oh I'll never do VT, I don't need that shard" don't ever let them rot :) especially ME, cause, you never know.
The gear helps, the extra 5 levels help alot...but I think the real point here is, if your guild can't make it to time, forget making it into Qvic...
Could you make it to Qvic without any member being Time geared, today sure, with grandmaster cultural and the right augs for a large portion of your guild could get you there.
PoTime is just a stepping stone now...but if your guild is unable to successfully make the PoP progression, it is unlikely they have a prayer of making it through GoD progression, PoP content is actually very easy in comparison...
Ummm actually...from what I've heard it would be VERY VERY VERY VERY difficult to get this stuff w/o having time stuff already...but I could be wrong...i'm sure this is out of Ikkanz or Kud'Taz or somethin like that :P Somethin that's higher difficulty than EP...
I'd like to see a guild try coirnav or the rathe in full VT gear. Heck, even Fennin would make a VT geared tank sob and he's the easiest of the elemental gods.
Each expansion builds on the last (with the exception of LoY and LDoN).
Fennin is easy with VT gear. When we killed Fennin our Tank had 1 piece of Elemental gear (arms) and a Blade of War from Rallos. The rest was from VT or Ssra.
