Wasn't the Crude Stein charged with minor healing before? Did they change that? I found this info at: http://www.gameznet.com/eq/equipment/crudestein.html
I had crude steins in the past (over a year ago) that had no charges of healing on them. Every single bouncer seemed to drop one.
Lately, they seem to be an infrequent drop from bouncers, but now come with a single charge of light healing (at least the 2 I got recently were that way). I don't know when the change took place.
I got one tonight off of a bouncer that someone had killed and they didnt loot any items. I cant believe they did that. It may not be worth a bunch but still, its a nice item to carry around.
Note the lore tag. After a while of killing the guards the merchants may not deal with you anymore. They don't want to go to the trouble of finding a merchant after every kill.
The killer will get the first. Then let the newbies loot the rest. It is common for people who are using the bouncers for experience and or faction.
Kind of like when PCs fight the guards in Steamfont mountain. My wizard got all his 4th and lower spells running back and forth looting the guards and selling to the merchants. All the guy wanted in return was some food and water since he was KOS in town.
There seems to be a misconception lately that these are no longer dropped in the game, which is causing people to overcharge for these. They used to be very very very easy to get and sold for about 10pp now 20 or 30 seems right. At level 45 it took me two kills (One Bouncer Burg and one Ferg to pick one up) They do seem to have pretty high magic resists, I had to cast ensnare 8 or 9 times to get it to stick. Made about 17pp on the other drops from the two kills two so all and all a good 20 minutes.
I was going to buy one from someone for 40pp because it would have been convient, but after I ran all the way accross the zone to buy it, they backed out and said they wanted 500pp cause their guild leader told them they no longer dropped in the game. (Tells you their are no knowledge requirements for Guild Leaders). I just ported myself down to Ferrott and picked one up.

Hey Flessan, the cat's eye bracelets can be made by any jewel crafter. The charisma stats are based on what metal they are made of. I have silver cat's eye bracelets and the charisma is +4 for each. I can't remember what the charisma is for electrum or gold or platinum and such but they will surely be higher. As for the crude stein, go to Feerott and shout for one, you might get lucky like I did and a higher lvl player will give you one. They are dropped off the bouncers there. Good luck and happy hunting.
I think you have electrum cat eye bracelets, silver makes a necklace, not bracelets. Silver makes +3 cha necklace, electrum makes +4 cha bracelets, gold makes +7 cha bracelets, past that I don't know.

...until a warrior decides he wants to buy from or sell to a merchant.
High charisma = lower price. Most people hoard a charisma piece for each slot they can get one for, just to be used when selling things to your local merchants.
If you're a good race, the Faydark Ringmail quest in Firiona Vie is great for this (assuming you can wear the chain-class armor), because each piece adds 1 to 3 charisma.
I have heard rumours of people saving close to 1000pp when buying something REALLY expensive that can only be had from a merchant, such as a Tinkerer's Bag. Also - an enchanter CHA buff can be invaluable here as well ;-)

How come these things are worth so dang much now? Maybe it varies a lot on different servers...on Nameless they are worth maybe 20ish pp I think - heck, I've give several away - but I switched to the Tribunal and tried to buy one and Damn someone said I could have theirs for 200pp. 200pp?! Talk about your different economies, sheesh.
I have been auctioning for one of these all over Antonica and Kunark -- currently a lvl 17 Ench -- and no one is selling. It's crazy, I'm offering 50pp, but no one even seems to have one. Sigh. I even hung around in the Feerott advertising but no luck. Ah well. This is on Xev server.
I have noticed the Price on Morrell Thule is MUCH higher for these than most of you say it is. Maybe it has just gone up for some reason, but I have been trying to buy one for quit a while in EC and can't find one for less than 100pp, they are usually going for the same price as the Stein of Moggok
I have been looking to buy one of these for a WEEK. Everyone that evens respons to my WTB wants over 150pp for it. What a joke, how much use do mag and wiz have for a CHR item anyway.

I see these in EC all the time going for 20-30pp. They are supper easy to get with a group of 20+ or really easy to solo at 30+. Everyone that buys or sells anything from a vendor should have one of these. Personally, as a jeweler, I have large bag full of CHA jewelry I made myself and a crude stein. Total for the gear is +51 CHA which gives me a total of 111 CHA - not bad for a wizzy. I am sure this has saved me thousands of plats just in gems I buy and sell practicing jewelry craft. In case you are interested the items needed to get +51 CHA are:
Crude stien +15 (purchased for 20pp) Golden Cat's eye bracelets (X2) +14 (made for 30pp) Silver Cat's eye necklace +3 (made for 2pp) Silver star ruby veil +5 (made for 70pp) Electrum star ruby rings (X2) +14 (made for 146pp)
Total cost for +51 CHA - 268pp. You will make this back and then some in a matter of days if you buy and sell regularly.
my cha gear bumps me up to 145 right now.. without one of these. true, my starting cha was 90.. but i have the same bracers and rings as you, the +5 cha necklace that drops in paw, silk evening tunic (+5 cha chest slot) a +5 earring, and a +3 doll from kunark.
i think i'll get one of these and drop the +3 for the +15 lol, i jsu tlike to see how high i can get it lol
Dewshine Soulhealer Paladin of the 39th Season Quellious Server
Really easy to get at 30 solo? Just an FYI, I tried to kill bouncer Hurd with my druid when I was around level 42. I ran around for nearly 5 minutes trying to get a snare to stick on him, and ended up zoneing out. Magic resistance is really really high as he was a low blue and I couldn't get it to stick.
My question his - what are his stats? What's his max melee, how many hp's does he have, and does he have any special attacks or anything. I am wanting to try him with my 40 warrior and a healer. Let me know pls. thx
It's great for buying from and selling to vendors. +15 cha for the off hand makes it much easier to reach the 103 cha needed to get the best prices from indifferent vendors. I've seen people try to sell them for as much as 50pp, but 20-30 is typical from what I've seen. Well worth it, even if you're not an enchanter or bard--it must have saved me several thousand platinum by now.

Stats aren't the only thing that is figured into the cost of an item, you know. If this were some kind of uber dungeon drop it would command a high price, but it isn't. They're damn easy to get.
Actually.. the highest i have ever seen this go for is only 30pp.. If anyone is selling higher its a rip.. Considering the quest is not that hard.. and the item is only useful for enchanters/shammies. Or someone who wants to bump up their vendor selling prices...
