Think scot free regen while you'd otherwise just be medding on your mount :) IMO a good player is one who keeps busy squeezing what they can out of a class. Bard is obviously an example of this, but necro has to be a Great example too ... I grouped with an astonishing one a few nights ago in PoI ... aside from nice dps, she was acting as healer (as cleric I healed MT twice, twice in over an hour) as well as mezzer / cc.
Does the Crude Stein have any healing effects after the one healing charge has been used. You made it sound like it does. Do you just put in the secondary slot and it helps you regen faster or what?
Search for me and look what comes up :P Another cleric gave me that advice *grumble*, I came here to find where to get one. There wasn't any healing beyond the charge.
I got one off a merchant in West Freeport for 8pp. I always check the merchants near popular places while passing as you never know what you might find. I got an Oracle Robe for 60pp and many people pay 200-1000 for them.
The light healing is irrelevant, it only heals 10 hit points and only does it once so it is pretty pointless. The CHA is great though.
My 10th lvl ranger with a freshly completed set of newbie armor, with the trueshot sword naturally, and a fresh load of Class 1 arrows helped to take down Lashmar Gusious. This was just outside of Kelethin. Seems old Lash had a nip too much of the old Elven Wine. Of course he got someone to give him a torch and, in his stupor, began to believe he WAS fire. He turned into a 20 foot tall fire elemental and, goaded on by a real fire elemental by the name of Sparks, proceeded to go on a rampage. He was too far gone to use his spells, thank goodness, but he was still hitting for 100+ HP. I kept plunking arrows into him and snaring him, while he ambled around after about 10 of us. Did I mention there was only 1 PC higher than me helping out? What does this have to do with anything? I got a crude stein, FS short sword, a bloodstone, and 19 elven wines out of the deal. If you're on Tholuxe and want a re-telling in character, send a tell to Kastion, Lashmar-Bane.

I soloed him twice tonight as level 51 druid. Had KEI and my buffs were up but nothing special and took my health down about 22 percent and my mana was over 70 afterwards. Second time was even easier because I didn't try to root. He does resist the root, so don't even try it unless you just want to see for yourself. Just snare and keep out of reach and you'll be fine. I DOTed him, snared when he turned around, kited until I could get a nuke off about three times and he went down pretty hard. Helped that I was killing spiderlings for their silk and saw him on track before he was in range...if he sneaks up on you he can do some pretty good (?) damage if you're not alert.
Nope. Though don't know why you'd want to bother... light healing doesn't mean much to the level of person who can reasonably get it. Who cares about the healing though? The charisma's what you want this for. Nice thing to have until you can afford an opal encrusted stein (that's 25 cha, 10 mana).
Some nice high level enchanter gave this to my little toon last night. Needless to say, 110 CHA for a 13 Enchanter is a big plus. They say that charimsa has only a small effect on mez, but I swear I noticed the difference last night! Has one Minor Healing charge on it. Have to save it for a "special" occasion, I guess.
I carry this with me at all times. Yes, the increase in CHA is great when selling, but as a rogue who likes to solo, I find myself binding wounds very often. Many times I will equip this (for the +STA) just to get that one extra bandage before hitting the 50% mark.
While I never use this for combat on my ranger, I do use this item a lot when I am buying stuff from merchants for tradeskills. Has easily saved me 100pp over the course of one level. I would definitely recommend everyone have one of these for buying and selling to merchants.
As for the bouncers, as a level 40 ranger I took out Hurd starting with full health and mana. In the end I had 1 bubble of health, 2 bubbles of mana and one stein =).
i have one of these crude steins i bought in ec for 30pp and mine says it casts light healing for some reason, it is outa charges of course, but its still there are they sposed to have this effect? either way how do i recharge it?
Answer to question one: Yes, they still have tihs effect. A fresh stein has one charge of light healing, right-clickable, can target anyone with it.
Answer to question two: There is no way to recharge it. Once you use that charge of light healing, that's all you'll ever get. The charisma and stamina are still there, but no more healing for you, unless you go beat up a bouncer and get another one with 1 charge on it.
Because merchants only sell them if someone sold one to a merchant. There are no merchants who stock the stein. If you got lucky and found one, good for you, but cannot rely on it.
i tried since december to buy one figured would never get one, today assisted in killing 5 bouncers all of whom dropped the stein. HEHE. Think that the changes in CT caused them to change this item again. GOOD for me BAD for bouncers everywhere LMAO

Running through Ferrott Bouncer Hurd caught me. I really hate him since he's killed me in my younger pally days so i macked him. Easy fight for me dropped this stein of which i have no use for. Catch me on Rodcet Nife if you want it. :)
I found the bouncers, as a lvl 45 druid, very easy to kill. They were all blue to me. I actually got a crude stein the first time I killed one so now every time I run to Rathe Mountains I take one out for fun.
I noticed a lot of things after the rash of patches came out after SoL's release. One was that the Golden Ear Stud (+3 INT) quest was producing 1/4 of the studs it used to. The Dervs in NRo drop A LOT less bronze. Now, it is almost impossible to get a crude stein.
Story: I spent 4 hours doing the Stein of Maggok quest yesterday, and had a lot of fun doing it. I figured, while I'm down in Feerott, I just pick up a crude stein - ha! 8 hours later, after I had checked every single vendor in Oggokk and Feerott TWICE, /auc for 5 hours in EC, Feerott, and Oggok, and finally ended up giving up.
Later, my wife felt so bad that I had not gotten my crude stein, she though she'd try to take on Bouncer Hurd with her lvl 50 cleric. Well, out of 3 times, she managed to root him twice and fear him twice - he broke both within 6 seconds, and proceeded to beat the snot out of her - to within an inch of her little life. She never got in one hit. So, she gave up on that idea. She hung around in the zone and started /auc for another 2 hours in Feerott for a stien for 200pp until some people on a hate raid agreed to take out some guards. It took a lvl 60 Warlord to take out Hurd. Well, they took out 5 guards and NONE of them had a stein! AAAAAAAA! One of the warriors was nice enough to sell the one he had, just so my wife would stop /auc for it! :-) I will never sell this thing as long as I live.
Well, you'll really hate me. I have killed him over and over and over with a lv40 druid. Root broke alot, but I have a the necklace that casts root so it was no big deal. Dropped a stein 3 outta 4 times )
Also, I did the golden ear stud quest 4 times in 2 hours and got 2 studs and 2 or the chaep gems. seems to be working at least as well as before. Cuburt was all over the place, and he dropped 4 dresses in 2 hours. Piece of cake.
The Crude Stein is definitely still dropped. I looted one off a Bouncer in Feerrott. It still has minor healing (don't know how many charges, will check), and was dropped with a FS 1hs, a shield, and a precious stone.
To be honest, my level 20 bard did not kill the Bouncer -- I was traveling with a level 60 druid who the Bouncer decided to attack. I was a little surprised at this aggro, considering the Bouncer should be WAY green to the 60th druid. I guess his faction must have been bad enough to overcome the Bouncer's fear of the druid ). Luckily, the kind Heirophant allowed me to loot Bouncer.
Yea, the CHA makes a big differnece. I have a bag of CHA gear that I put on before buying and selling. Total CHA with gear on is 112 and it saves me on a lot on stones for my Enchanter as much as 30-40pp on some stones.
