Ok tell me why I should risk my butt JUST going against the Aviak I need for the charm let alone the pelt which right now is still ridicliously above me. I got a Shiny Brass Shield in crushbone off a lvl12 character which has AC 10, +10 magic resist, and is a light source (weak but still it's a light) Why should this be such a great thing, aside from getting people to visit Kerra Island. Only advantage I can see is you would learn stuff a little bit faster as long as you rely on Wis and not Int (in which case see the testament post)
Get it if you got time to burn between dragon raids and are feeling nostalgic for gear that is so beyond the level it's makes obtaining it a pointless. Unless you work in teams to get all the parts (ok I know the fangs are piddly but the charm aint, that takes outstanding team work for anyone below 25!!) what's so great about this?
This item sucks! You are better off going and getting the Testament of Vanear if you want the wis. It is +10wis and +10mana. Much better second melee slot
It depends on what you're after. If you're after WIS, Testament is much better. But if you're trying to boost your magic resist, this is well worth the small effort.
The aviak charm can be used to quest crafted gauntlets, which are actually good. This thing is lame, considering you have to get other stuff along with an aviak charm. For the crafted, you just need two star rubies, which cost about 130pp for both. The gauntlets are worth 250-300pp usually, and sell fast.
Ahh, so this thing comes from Kerra.... My Cleric got one at around 30th level, I don't recall how but I think I bought it for about 20-25pp as part of a deal with other items. Good cheap item for WIS casters, and MR is always a good thing. Still using it at 36th. Most people would tell me to get a "real" item but I have no qualms for now.

If you mean the tiger in the Ak'Anon zoo, no, there are no faction hits for killing it.
That tiger drops a tiger hide perhaps 10-20% of the time, but he's a quick spawn so you most likely won't need to spend more than an hour or two killing tigers before one drops for you.
I just finished this quest last night and didn't even have a chance to try and auction it yet. I see people posted selling these for 200 plat, but is that the norm? how much can I really expect to get for mine in an auction?
I doubt you could get anywhere near 200pp for this, unless you trick a newbie into buying it. The reason is this: A charred Guardian shield has 10ac, and 9 wisdom, and is only 300-400pp. Similarly, the Testament of vanear is 10wis and 10 mana, and is an easy quest, abtainable by a lvl 16 or so. By the time anyone is interested in resists, they will be high enough level to have better than a bone talisman, or will be buying something better than this. If this was range slot, or even primary, It would be worth a bit, but there are too many easy to get secondary slot items that have more wis than this.
I'd guess 25pp, like the post above suggests. Might be good until your reach lvl 16, and can get the Testament.
if anyone here has it on povar and wants to sell it i am buying please send me an email or send tell in game ill pay 75pp for one but that is negotiable
i've done this quest twice, both times not taking me more than an hour. i was bound in the zoo, right next to the tiger, i'd root it (a must, or the tiger runs off and never comes back, really annoying), then careless lightning once or twice. if he didn't drop the pelt, i'd go get a mountain dew or some pizza, come back in about 5 minutes and he'd be there. i killed him about 5 times the first time, 3 the next. the giant snake fang.. psh, if you need instructions on how to get these, you haven't been playing long enough. the aviak charm drops in south karana, and it's the only no-drop part of the quest. i've gotten 2 aviak charms, the first one, someone just shouted out the location for one. the second, i auctioned for the location of one, got it in under 5 minutes for 10pp. errak shickshank is in kerra isle, and if you haven't killed any kerrans, you should be fine. i invis, just in case. keep going forward, across the bridge, through that little gorge until you see some docks, she's in a hut right there. she conned indifferent to me the first time, and i still got my talisman. i got a full blue bubble of exp at level 22 for handing this stuff in, which is nothing to scoff at. every time i'm in south karana and someone shouts "aviak charm at blah blah bla..." i do it again. easy quest. me like.
Got mine last night - what an easy, no risk quest at this level. I'm only using it until I can get my Charred Guardian Shield, then I'm selling it. Hardest part is camping that stupid tiger. :-)
Murias Leafstorm 27th Soldier of Tunare Druzzil Ro
hey that guys right as a 29 druid i got one of these talismens in under 1 hour ... and sold it in EC within 15 minuites for 200pp ... i have sold 6 of em now and made an easy 1k
The reason you go get this is becuase u can't sell a testament of vanear .... so it is a very easy way to make 200pp .... the druid version of the moggok quest 8)

Almost anyone would use this unless they have the option to dual weild or have something better. I mean, would you give up +10 SV Magic if you didn't have anything else? I certainly hope not

OR Erudites HATE the Kerrans, that's why they wont use one of their items (getting one from somebody else if you're an Erudite is still feasible as it's NOT no drop).

Might be a good item for say a monk to carry around during pulls so he doesn't get rooted or nuked into oblivion.
let me clarify this one: go to a hotkey bank where you have or can free up 2 hotkey buttons... put your offhand melee 2 box in one of those buttons... put an inventory slot where you keep this talisman or where you keep the bag it is in in the other of the two buttons...
now without opening inventory you can go to this hotkey bank and swap your offhand weapon or shield for this talisman during pulls, while fleeing from casters, or whenever having MR is favorable to AC or damage output and be able to switch back instantly.
Saw a monk pulling in hate with this trick so judge for yourself how useful it is and open your mind a little before you rant on someone who maybe has a better idea than you realized.
Got this today. The hardest item to get is the Aviak Charm (and that isn't oo hard). But a nice low 20's item. I fought a caster after I got this and resisted two spells, and since it doesn't wiegh much I carry a shield with me in case I have to duke it out.
Well the poster above me put it rudely, but i have to agree: Testament of Vanear 10 wis 10 mana you can get lvl 19-20 (free, no drop) Charred Guardian Shield 9 Wis Some ac (11?) and something else i think abut 500 pp both are many times better
