Yes boys, and girls I saved all of my copper, and all of my silver coins. And then I worked as hard as I could to get to 51 so I could equip this mighty shield. You can imagine my disappointment when I saw how it looked equipped (especially when you look at the graphic on the link information).
All I can say is that this thing looks like a coffee table at some trendy internet bar. I mean yikes!!! It's butt ugly!!!
While I won't go as far as saying I won't buy an item that doesn't look "cool" when equipped this one has got me paranoid that some of my guild members snicker everytime I zone in - Or is it my style of play? See it has made me paranoid!!!
looks like a garage door imho, but either way that still = butt ugly.
If you are wanting to be fashionable on your char you might want to save up a bit more and get the Tactician's Bulwark (for wis casters) and War Magus' Arrow Guard for Int Casters.
I agree with Krushu, this shield is not for anyone looking to make a fashion statement. Best description I've heard for it is a giant pop tart. It has great stats, but it is "butt ugly".
personally i like the fact that my halfling can hide behind this it looks in my oppinion pretty good when spliced with the Elysian gear. as of now im still working on the epic but i can immagine that it will look just as good if nto better once i have the epic.
I also like the way it looks. I'm sure it's just a matter of taste though. Every OTHER shiled I have ever owned on my druid was the basic shield graphic like in the icon. I just wanted something differant.
My FAVORITE shield in the game is the Validus Custodus Shield from katta. It's got a good shape, is white with the two raven heads facing each other very cool. Stats are only AC I think, but looked cool.
My shaman has just dinged 51 and is now able to equip this shield (nice improvement over Crystal Chitin!). Given his propensity to die very shortly after levelling, I thought I should ask:
What happens to equipped items with a minimum level requirement if the character loses that level? (ie. my shaman has a Tae Ew shield equipped after dinging 51; but he dies and becomes 50 again. what happens to the shield since he no longer meets the required level? goes into inventory? stays equipped? poofs entirely?)
Just want to figure out how careful I need to be...
Correct. "Required" stats just apply to the ability to equip them. A 1st level character could have one of these in their inventory.. they would simply be unable to equip it for 50 levels.
Great buyers market in bazaar. This shield is being produced so much, i got one for 6500p. The seller had 8 selling at one time, listed at 7500p, so I figured, why not talk him down. My Druid loves this shield for the Wisdom, mana/hp and FR/MR bonuses.
Well, considering that at least one cultural shield is all races, flaming this guys question seems kind of uncalled for. See the rigid mistmoore shield:
This shield is going to destroy the value of the Shield of Bane Warding. I teamed up with a 235 smith -- I had the iksar blood, he had the tae ew, and we went 2 for 2. Net cost to me -- 101pp!
The Tae Ew Shield is selling for 20k on TP server. What is the actual cost to make this shield? I know it takes GM smith but what is the cost of the components?
Actually, everything listed is cheap and storebought except for the Lizard Blood Temper.
The Tae Ew blood vial sells for about 5k in the bazaar on my server, the Iksar, Froglok, and Sarnak blood aren't nearly that expensive, though they aren't awalys easily available.
The Tae Ew Blood vial is by far the most expensive component. However, if you can farm it on in CT, then the cost of making the sheild is pretty cheap, maybe a couple hundered plat tops.
The Shield of Bane Warding still has its attractions. The high wisdom compared to the tae ew is one of them. All that wis in one item is hard to beat at any level, since it gives you additional flexibility with your other items. There's also the amusement of the quest involved. I plan on doing it as soon as I can gather all the components. This quest sounds like a blast. I've already managed to collect a box of skulls.
The only people that'll be "destroyed" by this are those who are ony farming the shield for plat. I have a hard time drumming up much sympathy for them.
If your idea of fun is sitting in the same zone killing the same mob over and over again hoping the next pop is the mob you need, then you'll love camping the Burning Priest in Scarlet Desert. Just finsihed 4 days of camping for a total of 28 hours, finally got the elusive <insert many curse words here> Priest and the drop. Now onto toilers. I'm doing quest a 2nd time, to trade SoBW for a Tae Ew shield = )
