Bought Golden Ticket with crowns from PoK, then run to Shadowheaven, turn in and receive this from the first try. Kind of luck I think. Now I can be a DE pally. Yeah.

got this from casino golden ticket trade in today. was surprised that my high elf wizard could use this illusion. the item says 'bard/rogue' so i thought only bard/rogue could use it but no, high elf wiz can click it in inventory and use the illusion. very happy.

This is the "pre-nerf" version, and has always been clickable by all races/classes despite being flagged bard/rogue.
For some progression servers they have allowed it to drop again (briefly in era, as with circle of shadow and so on) --to my understanding.
To get it from the Casino, just submit enough golden tickets. If you have the other gold ticket reward items in inventory you can force this one. Note that only some of them are tradable (i.e., to make yourself a "kit" to pass around characters to get a mask for each of them).
I can confirm that if you are a Dark Elf, you cannot win a Guise of the Deceiver (with a gold ticket) from the casino. Tried over 1000 times to turn in the last gold ticket, nada.
Switched race to Gnome, and got it almost immediately.

i tried over 2 thousand times to do the turn in , 7 times the item went poof and a rezone put it back on my curser, and still no mask. gms so far refuse to test or help.
Anyone else having trouble with this quest? I can't seem to turn in my ticket for the guise. I've recieved everything else so far that I can tell.
You need to keep feeding him the ticket until you get the item you're after. Every time you get the "wheel is stuck" message, that indicates you were awarded an item you already have that is Lore. Keep giving him the ticket, I've had it taken almost 30 hand-ins in order to get what I've wanted.

I actually had to contact a GM about it. When I got a reply from them, which was surprisingly fast, they told me that I had attempted to turn my ticket in over 600 times!!!
That's either incredibly bad luck or there was something wrong with the quest.
if you have a mask of deception in your bank or inventory (yes that's right, the nerfed version of the guise) then it will block the guise
this is so bards/rogues won't get a guise when they do their hand ins.
I actually tested this with every other casino item + mask of deception and could not get a guise until I ditched the mask of deception.

Is it accurate that you can't get this if you have the Mask of Deception? So, if I destroy my Mask and get the Guise then I can go back and re-get the Mask?

I got mine after my 6th "gold ticket" turn-in. Previous rewards were Scimitar of the Mistwalker, Fungus Covered Great Staff, Ton Po's Stick of Understanding (awesome ratio, if your twinking a toon), Rubicite Breastplate, Glowing Black Drum (bard speed Drog, also handy, except I am a Pally yet better than the gender bent Unicorn)

This is by all means clickable by a bard from a main inventory slot. Seemed there was a debate on the issue. I just did it like 10 seconds ago, 12-03-05
was told tonight by a GM that there was another quest for Dark Elf Illusion that any class race could use that was not a potion and not the guise, anyone know anything about this quest? this was all he was willing to devulge

Not sure if this is what you meant, but in EQ2 there is a dark elf illusion quest that deals with collecting bones that all classes can use.

well anyway my main server is on povar. Ive spent easy over 100k trying to get a golden ticket on there...I ran outta cash, so i went to my old server...bought about 5k worth of tokens. Turned a few in, and got a golden ticket...I was shocked! turned it in and got a DE mask. Few minutes later, got ANOTHER gold ticket, and ended up with holgresh elder beads. Im thinkin it was just pure luck..which is amazing cause i never have any usually =P just sucks because i wanted those on povar!

I got one of these masks just about 1-2 weeks ago off Assasin, so um it still drops...

Ok, well I have been obsessed with getting a guise since they nerfed it two weeks before I started hunting in guk. I have thusfar spent 150k on the casino trying to get a guise and only have an insane amount of statfood, a bunch of illusion potions, and beer goggles to show for it.
My question is to you that have gotten one or understand the system somewhat well is... I am prepared to blow another 250k to get a guise (as I said, obsessed), before I destroy the rest of my life savings, what are the chances I will get a guise with the said amount? I hope it is basically guaranteed, but since it is gambling, I understand that it is not, so just trying to get a feel for how much others have had to spend to get one... Thank You.

Aye, Wondering the same thing. Would one have better luck reciving a golden ticket if they gave it to their Class NPC?
Quesion: Do you have o give your tokens to the bard, rogue guy to get this or can it be awared from any of the Dealers?

So, with this item do you have to equip it for the effect to work? If you get it from the Casino's that is
No, with the "Guise", you do not have to equip it in order to use it. It's clickable from your inventory...Which is why it no longer drops, but is available from the money pit casino.
Can anyone who has won this item at the casino tell me if its no drop or if its tradeable?

Is this mask equipable for rangers the site says yes and the pictues says no what is it.

Not equipable by anyone but rogues and bards but this pre-nerf version is clickable from an inventory slot by all classes.
I won one at the casino and there aren't many other DE monks running around I can tell you that :-)

this isnt the one that drops in Lower Guk now, this is the pre-nerfed one, look at the one you have now and you'll see the difference (ie: Mask of Deception is what it is called now and it has a casting time)
