This is great for beastlords as not only does it stun (which compliments our pet's stun proc) but it also reduces aggro, allowing our pet to more effectively keep the mob distracted while we bludgeon it to death. I am going to buy a WLK and use that in primary, this in offhand. Good combo.

Just a small note, with the exception of sometimes rarely to a bug, pets will always 100% lose aggro to a player who is in melee range.
To test this, let your pet knock a mob down 90%, let it taunt/don't get any aggro yourself. When it hits 10% step into melee range and the mob will turn to you.
Not to flame you, just don't plan on this working. :)
In terms of highest damage for an offhand weapon that is droppable, this weapon is the best in the game. For a Monk at least. Im not interested in stats or procs, just damage. The only weapons that do more damage are no drop off stuff in tier 3-4 zones.
The "lower agro"-part of the proc will most likely just even out the Stun-part, so all in all you will just stun and stay where you are on agro list(damage still raises etc.)

Ok, anyone who does these trials knows what it takes to get through. Only high end groups do this, very well equipped high end groups.
Of course you'll hear from those who were babbysat through it via 5 ubers taking some dink through but that is the exception.
The only way this item would really get used is under 3 conditions:
1) Looks -- if it looks cool, it'll get the "lookie what I got!" use.
2) Group hunting where they want to stun stuff to avoid a gate and where the healers are gonna be a tad buisy keeping folks alive and meding -- any of the melee classes listed might use it.
3) Cleric who wants to play around and melee a bit with the group. Hey they deserve a break from the sit-med "CH Inc on %t" crap but really shouldn't have to get the crap kicked out of them for it... *grin*
As for druids... I know one or 2 goofs who might take it for use but they are very, very few and far between for the level needed to get this item.
Most use will be twink gear and/or bazaar sell of to lowbies.
Speaking of newbies.. after reading your message..
This item is Now REQUIRED level 50. It makes an awesome Offhand for Rogue. (others).
They are not MT they are DPS and secondary melee. The proc not only bleeds off aggro by lowering you on the hate list, but the 1sec stun also spell interrupts. This is another great secondary melee function. Good base weap dmg, and with good haste gear hits quite often.
Nice weapon to help keep the aggro where it belongs with the Main Tank, and Save group members from some of those nasty spells they didnt want to get hit with anyway :) As soon as the stuns start, the questions go away, and the good Job compliments begin.
It's one of those items for wich i as druid would be looking for definately, in good groups where chloro is pretty sufficent to take care of injuries during the fight, it's a very welcome addition to step in and melee and hope it procs a few times, the stun will temp prevent ppl from getting hurt and thus spending valuable mana on them. And even if the lowerhate equals or is bigger than the build up by the stun proc it's still pretty safe to use it. Weapons like this should be an encouragement for druids to join the melee while their heals are not needed yet and after they have they have casted the most important ro spells to debuf mob even a bit further. In combination with a mindbuff kei/clarity it would be a good combination to increase damage output of the group a bit more. Wich is important if the druid is the mainhealer, cause we ain't clerics. (yes i envy the healingskills of clerics):-)
For where it concerns other classes, i don't have experience in the lvl range yet, so i can't tell but for a druid in groupsituations certainly an excellent weapon.
Personaly i'm thinking this is a nice bst iteam, we don't have Jolt or FD or Evade to keep our agro down, note i have yet to find a tank that can keep all agro from me, so this i would deffently use once in a while, i don't quad so my meleing isn't as dependent, most my damge is done by my pet hehe alltho i nuke alot so this would deffently be a nice iteam
be good for a monk or a ranger beins monks like to get hit on and reduces hate /= dont know bout rangers though guess they cant get on the hate list anyways so
/quote: Would definitely be a nice rogue offhand. Another way to drop you on the hate list after some big double backstabs is always nice ) /endquote
In order to backstab a mob, dont you have to use a piercing weapon? Forgive me if i an wrong ( ive never played a rogue) but have heard that you can only BS with a piercer.
Was hoping this item looked like a judge's gavel :( .. or even like the Captain's Mallet.
It DOES have a unique look ... If I'm not mistaken, looks like a small, four-finned mace with a very thin wood handle ... not super fancy, but nice and simple appearance.
Not too bad an off-hander, besides.

Curscale is correct. The [link=everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=6447]Blade of Carnage[/link] has the proc [link=everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=2020]Enraging Blow[/link] that does the opposite. The same with the Shadowknight "Voice of/Terror" of line of spells and the Enchanter agro modifier spell line.
Increasing hate=mob hates you more, decreasing hate=mob hates you less.
higher on the hate list you go, the more the mob hates you. the lower on the hate list you go, the less the mob hates you. Look it up if you dont believe me

So what you want as a MT is items that generate negative decrease (and thus, by the rules of english, an increase.). I belive the first person that posted in this thread knew this but didn't express it well. Everyone else (including me) has just been nitpicking.
Well, think we have all become mixed up by the raising/lowering wording. However, this gavel will lower you on the hate list -- which means the mob will not want to kill you quite as much. This is the exact opposite of what EB does:
Enraging Blow 1: Raises you on the target's hate list by 700 points
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spell cast on you: Your head snaps back. Spell cast on someone: An orc centurion's face contorts with rage.
I agree with Timmoy... lowering you on the hate list means the monster hates you less.. Lower=less. I think if you put it in regards to the rogues ability to lower hate it makes sense. Remember the debate over rogues? (lets not get into a flame war over that just now..) Rogues special ability would get them placed at the BOTTOM of the hate list as far as aggro and NOT get attacked. That means they get attacked LESS. So if you are lower on the hate list you get hated LESS. Taunting, Massive damage, Nukes, Tashing, healing always ADDS aggro and gets the monsters attention placing you HIGHER on the hate list. Ask any enchanter casting TASH at the wrong moment... they would wish higher on the hate list means you get ignored!
This is a great weapon for the non-main assist. If you do not want to get the monsters attention use this weapon. Some monks will like this for it will let them attack instead of playing dead to lower them on the hate list. Same with rogues. A rogue would like this item for it compliments their ability to not get noticed while dishing out the damage.
If you take a look at Enraging blow, it RAISES you on the hate list. Look at the effect: Spell cast on someone: An orc centurion's face contorts with rage.
Will that make them hate you less??? I rest my case.
I believe the photo says 'decrease' hate...says nothing about lowering or raising...decreasing hate would lead me to believe that you are hated less by the mob. Just my opinion...I could be wrong.
