Lol, just as i thought. Noone has posted on these gloves in over a year.

I got Treant Fists when i was lvl 18. I never took them off. I am prolly the only monk on my server who has these gloves. I know of a few people who had them at the time i got them but they have since moved on to other MMORPGs.

These gloves served me from lvl 18 to 57 when i finally replace them with my epic. It was some weird role-playing honor thing that posessed me to do it, but i vowed to wear these gloves until i got my epic.

I just got my epic yesterday and i guess this is my way of payin homage to my Treant Fists. They served me well... /salute Treant Fists

/em bows low before Master Sevlore

I've long thought of going after these gloves--my quest armour gloves have stood me well--yet, I see soloing is not possible & I am but 2 levels higher than you upon your attaining these gloves.

Tell me master, if you will, your method to obtain them.

Many Thanks,

The pathing in the Gorge is messed up, so the Alchemist spawn in there is an impossible camp. I have spent nearly 3 months waiting on that HH Mace, and even the dev team admits the Gorge pathing is making mobs get stuck in the walls, but they have no plan to fix it. Some people swear that the Mace drops from the Alchemist in Misty Thicket, but I have killed him more than 12 times, and only get the ribcage.
I won't give up on this, but if anyone has any info, it would be appreciated :)

UPDATE
the latest patch to the patch has fixed the pathing in the Gorge. I spent about 16 hours camping the intersection, killing every Goblin in sight. He popped right on the 72 minute cue - there are 2 wandering 6-minutes spawns, and the Alchemist placeholder is an odd third spawn in the same point. Just keep accurate time of the 2 regular wanderes at the intersection, and the one out of pattern is your 72-minute placeholder.
Good Luck! This one has been 6 months+ as impossible...

Good luck!

Well - My Hafling Druid was wondering through the Gorge the other night when the goblin caster appeared. I killed it, looted and saw this humerus handled mace no drop. Didnt know what it was, so picked it up and checked it out later after camping. I really wish I hadnt done that! Anyhow, just to let you all know, if you wish to camp for this gob - he isnt that tough. Showed up just outside of the Runny eye entrance. and is constantly casting spells - so make sure your npc and others spells filters will allow you to see these castings - you cant miss him if he is around.

these gloves may not seem really good compared to gem inlaid to some people. But if you were a soloing monk or got caught being a tank then i would MUCH rather have these. These have same AC same DEX just without 3sta big whoop get netted kelp slippers 14sta. thses gloves are better for soloing and tanking because they have good ac and they have hp AND they weigh less. I would rather have these sure they may be hard to get but hey wouldnt the feeling of complete accomplishment be worth it. and just think about it monks that have these gloves do get a little more respect because this IS a hard quest to finish. it takes patience and persaverence to accomplish this quest and only the best (non-whiney like Troodan below) monks can do this quest. and about those posts below. nowadays with the tiger people i do not understand why they arent able to be monks i mean it would make sense considering the fact we have the tiger strike attack maybe a monk with that would have a bit more str and sta then our iksar and humans..... just my 2cp.... to the Troodan guy below think about all aspects of play before you post something as stupid as your post below. these are a lot better than gem inlaid. I would hate to see your equipment probably all sats not much hp or ac and overweight. Hardly deservable of the scholar title to say the least. and also with an item like this one i would NEVER destroy them because you never know if verant will do something to make them better its just common sense because they are pretty hard to get and because of that verant might make them a little worth while

gem inlaid hardly have a higher weight... if my memory serves me correctly, they are 1.0 weight, and this is 0.7. i agree, watching weight is important, but 3sta for .3 weight (and all of the things Troodan pointed out about selling) is a fair trade. i do wonder a bit why these arent iksar usable, but it might be a roleplaying issue. i really dont think this issue is big enough to be posting long posts about how they could get better or how you think troodan is whiney. he wasnt whining, far as i could tell, he was just stating his opinions.

Treant Fists have the plate look, so I suppose that's why Iksars can't wear them.
Why bother?

Taking a look at this gloves, and the quest for them, I just realized gem inlaid gauntlets are better, the items you need to acquire are more common and all found in the same place and are common spawns... why even do this quest? Only reason I can see is to raise Ashen Order, and if that's your goal, just kill a bunch of deathfist orcs. Plus, the gem inlaid gauntlets aren't no drop, so you can sell them when you outgrow them. And they're all/all, not monk only, so you have a bigger market. These just have to be destroyed when you can no longer use them. This quest seems kind of pointless, unless they improve the stats on these gloves to make it worth it. And come on, let iksar get them, would be a nice reward for the iksar monks who did all the faction work to even be able to get that quest. Otherwise, forget it, it's a waste of time.

Gem Inlaid Gaunts are 1.0 weight.

http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1583

Better than Treant Fists, but I was able to do the Fists quest at untwinked level 20. Gem Inlaid are a level 30 quest item. Use Treants through 20's then move on to something else.

Gem Inlaid Guantlets are nice but at 4 stones or so I'd rather have those silly gloves up there at a lower weight.. so I can carry my EE bag n' actualy loot a lil bit ;)

Still not useable by Iksar?
# Jul 19 2001 at 7:53 AM Rating: Default
Can someone verify that these lether gloves still can't be used by Iksar? Seems silly that they can't :(
RE: Still not useable by Iksar?
# Aug 13 2001 at 3:58 PM Rating: Decent
these gloves are plate based so that's why iksars cant wear them
RE: Still not useable by Iksar?
# Nov 11 2001 at 4:28 PM Rating: Default
well then i guess monks can't use them either. These are leather based, but i assume iksar can't use because their claws would rip them apart. it's VI though, and that explains it all.
This used to have an Effect.
# Jul 07 2001 at 2:24 PM Rating: Default
These gloves used to have an effect when EverQuest was first brought out. Unfortunatly Verant got rid of the Effect as it was too good. The effect was only active for about maybe 3 months of release, and when someone got these for the 1st time (i think) they removed the effect. These used to be:

AC: 8
DEX: +3 HP: +5
Effect: Complete Heal
WT: 0.7
Class: MNK
Race: HUM BAR ERU ELF HIE DEF HEF DWF TRL OGR HFL GNM

I know this because someone on the oldest server (and the 1st one to be active) has them. Well enough of that, it's in the past now /cry.
RE: This used to have an Effect.
# Sep 20 2001 at 10:02 AM Rating: Decent
Not true. The gloves were retroactively "fixed" to remove the CHeal effect within a week of them going live, when reports came in of a mid-30s monk soloing Seafuries non-stop came in. :-)

New effect 90% pem haste
# Jul 12 2001 at 12:15 PM Rating: Default
Yeah, the old effect was right clickable complete heal with no recharge time. They (VI) got upset when some monk got these at level 20 and he hit level 50 within 2 weeks by soloing in Lower Guk with this item and the original cloth sandals which had right click effect of Lava Shield. Ah those were the good old days.
*reminisce

(j/k FYI) and so was Sodar 8+)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 03 2001 at 11:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Really I would rather be a halflong ranger rather than a monk. I mean they make awsome Druids and also the only warriors who can hide and sneak, so they would make a great hybrid of these two classes. But whatever floats your boat. =P
Programming
# Jun 01 2001 at 9:56 AM Rating: Default
its all about flags.

Items have properties to them, and to save space they will often use simpler ones. for instance a flag for a "leather" item can be worn by all tank and priest classes (such as monk, druid,) but not casters. "Plate" can be worn by clerics and "true" tanks (except rangers). Pretty weird I know. Something "Small" only can only be worn by wee folks. For specific race/classes only they have to specify it.
I'm guessing they made this item wearable by monks, and just set the flags for large and medium size.
Makes sence really
# May 28 2001 at 1:25 PM Rating: Decent
The idea of making the gloves available to so many races when only monks can use them makes sence from a programing stand-point. Now, should they make a patch that alows for different raced monks, that patch will not have to include the gloves, the scarab boots mentioned, and others items, making it a quicker download, and easier to write.
RE: Makes sence really
# Jul 04 2001 at 7:37 AM Rating: Decent
Those changes are made serverside though, and dont require a download.

At least thats what I've been lead to believe.

Actually I don't see a problem with just Human and Iksar monks....but I would like the comidy of a Gnome Monk...Midgit Flying Kick...just get that image in your head ) then realize that if you're a monk...you are either human or iksar

RACE MONK?

RE: RACE MONK?

And if you look at the picture it does not show iksar monks, so you humans are alone as far as these gloves are concerned.

That's not as weird as the scarab boots. They list that a monk can use them, but they can only be used by dwarves, halflings, and gnomes.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 03 2001 at 3:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) GEEES!! You Morons!!! HAVEN'T YOU EVER SEEN A GNOME MONK BEFORE =D

4 years too late but...Frizznik the GM of the Lanys T`Vyl server used to run around as a gnome monk quite often.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 08 2001 at 9:15 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) um.... not recently. The Ogre monk was kind of interesting though.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 31 2001 at 5:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ogre Monk would be junky...only punching strenchth... Dex is what makes your specials connect, which they dont have. and Str isnt a big issue if you use the new Monk weapons (may need small str boost for startoff) and the agility is explainitory since they can only wear Leather and lower (Wu's Fighting Gauntlets look like cloth when worn so dont **** ya pants) and some Plate like Serps...but chill Ogre Monks would be crap. I think Half-lings would make better and i didnt know they were making all races monks which i think is total BS...dont try it
