i got one on Cazicthule its very nice... i had 18 people comment me on how cool it looks and how good the stats are (ive been keeping tallys since i got it, hehe). i like it alot, and it goes great with schw, even tho there are better haste items out there, its still nice. my dex is around 90 and it procs at an average of once per mob. the effect is a 45 damage lifetap. i have no clue about the 4 magic damage, but i guess its nice to have. bought this for 13k. i like it and i plan on using it alot.

Hello friends.

I am curious. For you master Smithy's out there. I am on the Zeb server. My question is, if someone was to bring the ingredients to a smithy, what would the charge be to combine and make the Halberd? As I reside in a smaller Guild we do not have a Gm Smithy. Just curoious.

Thank you for any info.

When you ask most tradeskillers to do this, they'll tell you they have to charge such prices to prevent you from turning around and reselling the thing.

They tend to be a bit sensitive about the subject - all of them have a horror story about how "helping someone out" drove down the prices on their items and made tradeskills unprofitable. They probably have a good point, too.

Suggestion? Make friends with a GM smith. Good friends.

Find a smith who is high enough in skill to be able to reliably make this.. Say 239 plus with geerlock / gm trophy (or lower if they have more mods to blacksmith skill and can get their effective skill to 252+ (ok, some people say 255, leave that call to you))

Then ask them if they would hit combine for the chance of a skill up.. No cost to you, no cost to them.. This will usually work..

Other than that, your at the mercy of the prices charged by the people you meet, ive seen people ask for 4k just to hit combine.. Don't even bother with that (and don't insult them about it, they got their skill high enough the hard way, its only reasonable to make some money back, I however think the chance of a skillup, is enough payment personally).
Nice axe

I don't know about the pricetag, but I am interested in making these. I guess I'll hang around the forge mass-producing armor for a few days while I get the skill up.

Getting to 250 skill is not easy at all/ However as a GM of any trade you can make quite a good living making things for other players. Which works out, since EQ has its own internal economy. It's a shame how many people stop working their skills once they reach 100ish.

Not to knock anyone making a living off 10slot Backpacks, FP armor and SoW potions. That's how I paid for most of my tradeskill working *lol*

Bought for 9k - Veeshan server.

Mine all mine!!!...:) Awesome weapon. Magelo figures are a little off on my #'s...144 dex, this procs at least 4-5 times..at 45 hp heal...can save our cleric alot of mana. lvl 51 and just started using this. Have Argent Protector...love the AC and stats but the Halbred along with my 26% perm haste makes it a 40/36 with 45 hp heal proc...with the +4 to magic...44/36!!!! Best 9k to date....well worth it for the player and the seller gets satisfaction of having work appreciated.

Actually, you're delay is 41.76, not 36.

48 - (48*.13) == 41.76

Enjoy

how do you get .13? thats 1/2 26%, the correct delay would be (unless VI once again fu**s up on their math) 48 - (48*.26) 35.52

Why with 26% haste would the Delay not be 35.52 (rounded to 36)?

The "Black Acks" are a new line of swords made by high level blacksmiths. There are other black acrylia weapons in addition to this one. They have a very good damage ratio, and should soon become popular. Here are the stats of some others, according to EQTraders.com:
Weapon del dam other
Bl. Acrylia ******* Sword 30 14 +2 magic damage
Bl. Acrylia Scimitar 22 10 +1 magic damage
Bl. Acrylia Long Sword 25 12 +2 magic damage
The Proc
# Jul 16 2002 at 10:57 PM Rating: Decent
It is in deed a 45 point LT (takes 45 from the mob and gives it to you) not 125. For those of you saying the smiths are being greedy charging 10-15k, you go out and skill up to 250 in smithing. BTW it is NOT trivial at 250 :)

thatd be a 45pt lifetap PvE, 39PvP
Ok to settle the dmg thing
# Jul 16 2002 at 6:53 PM Rating: Default
Bane damage and elemental damage work the same: They are factored into the base damage of the weapon.

A lamentation (9/19) with 4 bane dmg becomes a 13/19 weapon vs. the mob type specified in the bane dmg bonus.

In similar fashion, a lamentation with 5 fire dmg will become a 14/19 weapon when fire is not resisted heavily by the mob being attacked.

Were it not so, you would see things like the listed Dmg Bonus where they would both 1) increase as you level and 2) be larger numbers.

This is all my theory, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Why else would the acrylia rapier be 9dmg 20dly? it has 2 magic dmg on it, making it an 11/20 weapon which I think is a tad more realistic, and fits in line with Verant's desire to randomize damage done a litte more so as to not make everything so easily calculated (i.e. keep battles from becoming a bunch of number crunching). Otherwise, you'd also see a new playable class: Statistician.

I've been told the proc on this is like 120dmg lifetap. I thought it was a 45dmg lifetap. Anyone confirm?
RE: the proc
# Oct 16 2002 at 6:25 AM Rating: Decent
They are likely thinking of the Acrylia Handled Broadsword, which is in a class of its own really. (100 point lifetap + healing/casting AAs would account for the 120 perception perhaps.)

Farming.
# Jul 14 2002 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
Alright, here's some info on these little puppies.

Essense of darkness, drops like hotcakes off ROBED Xi in ME.

Akheva Blood, seems to be a rare drop off four arms in ME.

Brick of black acrylia, common drop in Acrylia Caverns, seemed to get one out of every 2 mobs.

Awesome weapon, but, the items required to make it are easilly farmed up. Buying the rest of the items from there is around 200p per attempt. I completely respect smiths for developing up such a hard skill, but, charging 9800p profit for a 200p item seems almost rediculous. Granted, it will fail 2 out of 3 times, meaning it costs 600p for each, sometimes less if your lucky, sometimes more, either way, it doesn't get above 1k for each success. I would personally charge 5k to 6k for each weapon. So there's the lowdown on the Black Acrylia weapons.

# Aug 05 2002 at 7:59 PM Rating: Decent
To reiterate, since bards love doing it. This weapon, is worth about 5k, to 6k apiece. If you are being charged more, go farm some up, and find out if any of your friends are smiths, make a few deals with a smith, bring them 20 of each, tell them after the first successfull combine they can keep anything after that, and bamm, you got yourself a weapon, and you'll understand how hard it is to do.

Had a guy who let me check this out in the trade window, nice item. He claimed to have paid 15k for it. Next day I see one for sale in auction, so I send a tell asking the price. This guy responds with 45k. I ROFL him and ask him why 45k, he says because it si so rare. LOL !!! When they get so common that the price drops to about 5k - 8k then you will see me carrying one, but for 15k I can find alot better. You guys that craft these things should rethink your pricing just a bit, selling 2 for 15k is not as good as selling 20 for 5k.

"selling 2 for 15k is not as good as selling 20 for 5k"

If this item cost nothing to make, and never failed, that statement would certainly be true. However, since it takes 2 bricks of black acrylia, and 2 black acrylia tempers per attempt, the componets cost is pretty significant.

In order to make 20, you would need : 40 bricks of black acrylia, 40 essence of darkness, 40 akheva bloods, and 40 distilled manas ,assuming no failures. Since I hear that these fail about 50% at 250 skill, double that. Now you are up to 80 of each of these items. That would either be about 100hrs of camping, or 80k+ in materials.

Well, that leaves you with 20kpp profit.

On the other hand, to make 4 attempts, you'd need 8 of each or about 8k in materials. That leaves you 22k profit, and a WHOLE lot less time spent making them. And its better to sell 20, WHY? 10 times the work, less profit. Plus the market gets flooded faster, driving prices even lower.

Ummm... 80k plus? What world do you live in? I just pointed out that it's only 200p per attempt. And given the 1 out of 3 tries success rate, it's STILL only 600p. Charging 5k means your still making WELL over 2/3rd's profit on the item. Btw, lvl 60 druid/bard/wiz/necro/shammy can easilly solo up ALL of the required peices outside of the bricks themselves. Which, you'll note are COMMON drops in Acylia Caverns. A full group capable of doing hands in KC can do entrance of AC no problem. 3 hours time invested, you got about 1 stack of bricks, maybe more.
RE: Farming.
# Sep 03 2002 at 10:15 PM Rating: Default
First off, the how does your simple mind come up with 200pp???

At 110 Cha, (all thats needed for that best price you will get) the sapphires alone are 420pp for two vials of Distilled mana.

OK so the is a lil more then double your attempt at belittling the time effort and trouble a GM Smith has put forth to get to the point where he MAY be able to make 1 of 3 combines. Not to mention the time and effort he/she put into gathering the other not so common drops.

That all said, Gawd I would hope that you are as lame in game as you are here. And I Pray to Brell that you seek me out for your very own Halbard with the items in hand. So I can be the one that tells you to take a flying leap at a rolling donut.

Exactly =), 250 skill is hard to get, and even then it fails. Most smithes won't make banded because it isn't enough of a money maker, if these dropped to 5k, it would be the same type of thing.

These are currently going for about 10 to 15k on my home server, Ayonae Ro. I personally have made 3 of these myself now, 2 for friends and 1 for sale. Traded it for a Silvery Belt of Contention.

Recipe can be found on:

Look under Smithing - Weapon Recipes. The recipe itself is towards the bottom.

These are currently going for 20k on the Innoruuk server. There are very few players who CAN make them and even fewer that are making them. ATM there's roughly 1 dozen on the server, and only 1 was not made by me (that I am yet aware of)

These are really pretty awesome weapons. with the +4 mag dmg they can dish out a lot of damage and the proc is pretty good too.
what i've heard
# Jun 26 2002 at 10:19 PM Rating: Decent
ok i got my eyes set on makin one of these so i did some reaserch to find out what i need. my skill is only 170 so im only going to try once now and if i fail then spend a lot of lvling my skill. ok anyway this is it

you need a sheet of black acrylia, a black acrylia temper, and the weapons mold- according to EQTC.
to make the temper you apperantly need 1 essence of darkness, 1 akheva blood and 1 vial of distilled mana- this is brewing, not smithing lol and it says its trivial at 140ish

To make the sheet im kind of guessing so post if you know beter but i heard there is blackend ore (or something like that) that drops in the acrylia caverns (200pp per block on my server im told, and in high demand which means it must be good for something) and to make a sheet of metal you need 2 small bricks of the ore and a flask of water(mabye a temper insted).
Something they added with the last patch was the ability to make a block into a large brick and that into a small brick and down to pieces by placing a chizle and the ore in a forge, i forgot if u need water or something.

Again im not 100% sure on it but meh, sounds reasonable. Good luck on it and sorry for typin so much =P
RE: what i've heard
# Jun 27 2002 at 4:24 AM Rating: Decent
The sheet requires a temper as well, so on no failures, you need 2 essensce, 2 blood, 2 mana vials and 2 small bricks of black acryllia.

This is not trivial at 250 skill, so with 170 skill you might have 20% at most, and more likely only the 5% chance that you would have at 0 skill anyway. If you do have the components, you are probably better off trying to locate a GM smith.

"Magic damage works just like damage bonus, therefore the +4 is added to the total of the actual damage output. (If you hit the mob for 50 dmg and it fails a save on magic you will do 54 dmg)

Bane damage is where the actual modifier is added to the actual damage on the weapon. "

I don't see how this can be... with my argent protector 42/49 I hit for 257 max and with the halberd I hit for 266 (this is what a 57 hybrid will hit for with narandi's lance btw a 44dmg weapon), this just doesnt add up if magic damage is added at the end since the AP has both higher damage and a higher damage bonus
RE: confused

the way the magic/fire/cold etc and bane damages work is this:

IF it says magic 4, or bane undead 4. then it is calculated as if it was part of the weapons damage statistic. (damage x2, adds to damage bonus etc)

IF it says magic +4, or bane akhevan +4. Then the damage is added as a whole number to every blow. It is not calculated into the weapon , nor is it subject to damage midigation. the + damage type work just like procs. (generally think of them as rasing the minimum weapon damage)

Ok... Where do I find the recipie for this.. and can I do it with 155 Smithing ability?
RE: Recipie??
# Jun 21 2002 at 4:50 PM Rating: Decent
this item is NOT trivial at 250 smithing. so at 155 there is almost no way to make it. I tried 3 times for other BA weapons at 233 and failed all 3 tries. with 252 smithing the success rate is about 40-50%.
