I'm so glad I chose both a High Elf, and smithing. This is the uberest uber uberly uber bracer I've seen! That doesn't mean that I think it's the best one out there, so don't go postin how stupid I am for thinkin it or anything, but DUDE! Now I just gotta go find more essence of shadows, and I've got it!

Skill 247 and 5% grandmaster smith's trophy (meaning 255 effective skill, max) I am running about 40% on making this item. It is not for the faint of heart. At least you're only burning one blue diamond per attempt.

Why?
255*.05=12.75
255-12=243
Wouldn't 243 be exatly the same as 247? The cap being at 255

The hard cap on any skill, including trade, is 252.

Those of us who spent DKP on the XTC hammer whince every time this is mentioned.

No longer true. Thanks to one of the recent expansions (Dragons of Norrath, I think) the cap is 300 now, if I'm not mistaken. Might be 305 for some weird reason.
