Ice Silk Robe

Just got one of these for only 4.3kpp. The bazaar is a truly wonderful place. No, I didn't buy a robe outright, I bought the ingredients. Ice Burrower Silk is nearly always up for sale on my server, though only a few at a time. I've seen the price as high as 900pp per silk (non-stackable), but it averages around 650pp per. Keep track for a while and you'll catch bargains now and then. I bought all 6 over about 3 weeks, got 1 for 400pp, 2 for 500 and the last 3 for 550pp each (got impatient).

The poison vial is fairly easy pottery, but I found one of those in the bazaar for just 5pp. Being a chanter with good cha, erudite form in Erudin bought me a platinum thread for 214pp. The four rubies were 134pp each. I have the spell Purify Mana so I made that myself from the poison vial and four rubies (541pp total).

The pattern is specifically a Robe Pattern, which you can get from a vendor in PoK in a building behind the Great Library. I had to ask around because a Tunic Pattern is how you make robes in the pre-PoP recipes. It was only 5sp.

That brought me to about 3.8k in ingredients. Grand master tradesmen on my server routinely offer their servies to others on a for-hire basis. A standard price is 500pp for a successful combine. I just ooc'd in Nexus, PoK and Bazaar and got a reply right away. We met. I delivered all the ingredients. Make sure you're in group so you can see the message about success or failure. WOOT. He got 500pp for clicking a button, I got my chanters robe!

I had no idea the success rates were considered so low. If they are accurate as posted here, I was somewhat lucky. Still, it's a cheap way for a non-tailor to have a shot at it. Undaunted, I think I'm saving my cash for more silk. Got my eye on those sleeves....

One more thing, I've only ever seen the Ice Silk Cap being sold in our bazaar as a finished item. Probably because it takes fewer silks but yields impressive stats (best return on your investment for any single item in this line of clothing). They are sold only in the rather tight price range of 4-5kpp.

P.S. Alas, it was a thoroughly ugly mustard color when I put it on. Blech. But with a Vial of Prismatic Dye, it's now an enchanting, deep velvet blue. MUCH more appropriate for Ice Silk wear, I figure.

Okay, I KNOW I read Somewhere that this dropped off of a mob. I don't even remember what mob I read it dropped off of. The tailored version of this robe is Ice Burrower Silk Robe with all same stats 'cept weight on the burrower robe it's 0.7 stone. Anyway, anyone have any idea where and what the mob is? Any help is appreciated. Thanks :)

They are reportedly tough to make even with 250 skill level. I have a char who has one and it took the 250 skill tailor 4 attempts before he succeeded. 6 ice burrower silks per attempt, the 4 rubies per attempt, plat thread per attempt... and like Kpak said, the time and pp it requires to get skill to 250 to make this... I don't think 40-50k (avg price on my server) is unreasonable for this. Not when you consider all that has to go in to making one. The Ice Silk cap is pretty nice too. I have that one on my mage right now.

ok in case anyone is wondering what is needed to make this, and what skill... fyi never made this in my life, and prolly never will, but i know some of you want to know....

componants needed
1 platinum thread (easy to get, sold in thurg, and prolly other velious stores)
1 robe pattern (one again easy to get)
1 vial of purified mana (made by any chanter that has that spell over 49, compontents for these are 1 poisin vial, and 1 ruby)
3 iceburrower swatches (2 iceburrowe silks combine to make the swatch, you need about 2 groups, or one high lvl group to take down a ice burrower as they are lvl 60-61 mob, nasty to get)

skill needed trivial over 250, so is not trivial at all....

(if anyone has ever done tayloring, they should know that this is a nightmare to do = /, i mat 137 and i almost slit my wrist to stop the boredome hehehe..)

Actually it isn't the best non no drop robe in terms of int. Crimson Robe of Alendine ac12 +15 int +15 dex +50 hp +50 mana and droppable.

Anyway, the Ice Silk armor is made by killing Ice Burrowers in Western Wastes, and using their silks (in combination with a really high tailoring skill).

This is the best non no drop robee in terms of int!
