I think it might have something to do about hybrid classes. I mean, Ankle bita paladins and inky SKs didn't get much betta.... then we look at the beastlord class and shake our fists!
I love how VI is coming up with alot of cool n00b stuff for these little mutants, not only will we see a ton of rogues and druids biting peoples knees now its rangers too. Gah, I wish VI had released something like this for any ranger class but I guess they want to see more mobile beer coasters.

I was hoping by the stats of the other items that I would be able to "UN-TWINK" my low level ranger and sell the ivy gear so that I could horde some more moolah on my main. Comparitavely, this item does blow. With the decent increases to main stats on the others ( excepting the Paladins, who also got screwed ) I was sorely disappointed when I saw the stats on this peice. Not only that, that DANG Giant Fruitbat ribcage never dropped for me on Povar in like 200 kills. If this is a low level quest, the drop rate needs to be increased. I killed about 18 - 25 drakes and got ALL the scales I needed including the Pristine Scale. WHen I saw how bad the stat bonuses were in comparison to EVEN the rogue BP, I gave away the Pristine scale and ther four silk threads and deleted the rest. Granted the other peices are fine, but COME ON. To those who commented that we are complaining, DAMN RIGHT... I am sure if they gave every class but MONKS a damn nice item with +3 to the main stats and then gave the monks an item that weighted nothing, but added +1 to str ALL MONKS would be pissed. So as a ranger, my alt was sorely upset.

Wellllll makes as much sense as having items with stat bonuses 4 or more pts below everyone elses ;)

.... That Verant will have realised the horrible mistake that they have made and change this armor to having str +7 wis +7 (as was OBVIOUSLY intended) in this big patch due.... ;)
And for the record - I have a full set of this armor and I have to say the quest to get it all only took me about 8 hours all up (at 10th) and it was fun to do.
But I have to agree the stat modifiers are actually a tad low compared to the others as is the Storm bringers Machette ( the ranger newbie quest weapon )
Either all the other armors need to be brought back a little or this stuff needs to be raised a little.
Alternatively giving the armor some minor right-clickable effects could be useful as well
(glimpse from the helmet, flame lick from the gloves, calm animals from the BP or something, but NOT Snare - there are a few high level items that can do that lets not cheapen them)
I really really hope that this stuff becomes "extendable" like the Iksar Kuhkri (sp?)

rofl, the dark elf warrior's weapon is a 7/40, this is N E W B I E gear, stop your ********* Was it worth doing for just the 12 ac and 5 hp on your bp? You better believe it was. I remember the days of selling CB Belts to save up for a piece of ringmail or bronze, and the first time I got a dwarven ringmail tunic! This is a fine reward for the difficulty in obtaining, but the mobs should spawn more often and drop their items more often.

All Im saying is that compared to all the other halfing stuff this is not on par. As far as I have seen (and admittedly I have not done the pally , warrior etc quests) the difficulty in getting this stuff is roughly the same (minus tracking of course :) )
maybe thats why this stuff is a little toned down - verant figures that a ranger will be able to get this stuff a little easier due to being able to track than the rest so it should be weaker....

I only wish this stuff was available for a Wood Elf when i started my EQ adventures some months back.
I only got Banded at some lvl 17 or higer. Getting this stuff in your main char at lvl 8 is UBBER!
I bet some high lvls will pop by and say "Bah, this armor is nothing compared to (insert ubber lvl 60 thinggie here)!". But the point is that getting this armor yourself at noob lvl when u have next to NO money rocks!

Compared to the cleric BP (ac 12 Agi5 wis 3 ), warrior BP ( AC12 Str3 Sta 6 ) or even the Rogue BP ( Ac 12, Str2 Dex5 ) (no info on the pallz plate yet ), this is a sad joke. Is Verant telling us that HP+5 is equal in value to Str+5 ? In that case, could I please turn in my AC6 HP+65 ring for one with AC6 STR+65 ? Heck, I would even settle for Str+12...

Considdering you can get it at a low level in the newbie area, it is a very good tunic for the level. Not as many stats, but come on, same AC as plate classes.
