This war starts approximatley every 20-30 minutes. You will see a message of mobs scurrying ect. The owlbears march from the owlbear cave to the grimlings in the south as well as march to the sonic wolfs to the northeast. You simply assist whichever mobs you want to win. When one specific group, owlbears, grimlings, or sonic wolfs take over all three camps, then the merchant town by the entrance to vah shir depops of guards and merchants and becomes the mob boss for whichever mob took over the three camps, when you kill this boss, then the whole zone resets back to normal again.
A little clarification as certain people seem confused... when you see the zone message describing one side attacking another, for example the Grimlings attacking the Owlbears, two sets of mobs will spawn for the races described.
Using Grimling attacking Owlbears as the example if you stand just outside of the Owlbear caves where there are normally two owlbear guards either side there will now be some perma rooted owlbear defenders (be warned these ones summon so pick them off one by one if you're unsure).
If you wait a couple of minutes you will see a small party of grimlings come down the path and attack these owlbear defenders on the door. (Note: none of the regular owlbears will attack them before they get to the cave entrance).
If you choose to help the grimlings win, then kill off all but one of the owlbear defenders before the grimlings arrive and allow the grimling raiding party to kill the last one.
Shortly after the grimlings kill the last owlbear defender they will head into the cave and eventually despawn and you will see a zone message that the Grimlings were victorious.
Shortly after the owlbears will despawn and be replaced by Grimlings. Repeat the same for the sonic wolves to replace them with Grimlings and you will spawn the Boss Grimling mob at the outpost just outside Shar Vahl. Be warned, he doesnt stay up long, so when you've populated the zone with only one race in all three areas get over to the outpost quickly.
You can obviously influence who wins the war, be it Grimling, Owlbear or Sonic Wolf and you get a different boss mob for each of the different races. Each of which drops different gear.
Ok I've seen several occasions in posts where players have said:

Ok....this is BS, see the bold sections above??? Remove those and this is correct. Just nuke/slay the everliving crap out of these suckers (defenders/invaders etc) for whichever side you want to lose and they will. Kill the spawns outside of the caves if you want the invading faction to win. If its in the south, kill the (resident/non-resident) mobs for them to win. DO NOT WAIT FOR THE INVADERS TO ARRIVE!!!
I agree. Wipe all defenders if you are able... or wait for first of the attackers and assist them if you cant solo the defenders. Depending on your class these mobs (even when green) can be a pain with their adding and summoning. When all defenders are down get back to outpost. If you are a gater... you bound near outpost (but not inside) to make this even faster...and you get to watch the Vah Shir run away.
Belt drops off Gnitrat. Word to the wise, don't go to the back of the cave and kill the wrong Grimling, he is in the little offshoot cavern to the left. Was a pushover for a hungry 42 Ranger and a 44 Paladin. The belt is awesome, and honestly, I like it better than FBSS. Seems to be faster, and has the added bonus of AC and stats. A must for meleers who want that added edge.
I honestly think this zone is one of the best kept secrets. I had never even heard of it until parusing for haste items. We camped him for about an hour and a half. He spawned probably half a dozen times and we killed twice as many placeholders. Got two belts, and two headshrinker caps, then it was cammo and exit stage left. Honestly, if you can get a cammo, or invis it makes things way easier. Dont have to fool with undercon aggros. Death by greenies is so embarrassing. Just my 2cents.
Im jest wondering, how do you make thsese grimlings to take over the owlbear camps? i hear that you can "help" them take over a camp but i wanna know how? is it by killin certain mobs?

May be a tad late on your answer but here goes. There seems to be a little sequence as to which side gets what. Kill the name or packleader in sonic wolf cave; then hang around there and kill all sonic wolves and the sonic wolf defenders so the grimlings take the cave. Then keep owlbear raiders from taking sonic wolf cave (when one side has 2 areas they dont spawn defenders). When grimlings go on the offensive;Kill the owlbears incl defenders then grimlings take cave...but this will also have grimlings take outpost too. So hope your named spawns fast and you kill it before that wandering soul kills the prince...even though you anounced you are running the war. There will always be a jerk...Its EQ law
Hmm the north owlbear cave is the one close to sharval.... But when the south owl cave is announced for attack i jsut cant find it. Been looking everywhere, theres no south owlbear camp on maps either... Im trying to get the belt, but it seems that he named dropping the belt is supposed to spawn at south owlbear camp and not north cave... Anyone who can help me out a bit
Owlbears - North cave Wolves - Eastern cave Grimlings - Swamp to the south.
When they attack they will often announce it just like it is there. Anyways this isn't a bad twink item and i'll be getting one for my bard today i think
Alright, I see that the spell Haste is L1 = 2% to L49 = 50%... Can anyone tell me how they come up with 11%? I am assuming the effect on a permanent item has a set level of % of haste, whereas the spell effect is according to casters level? Maybe someone that knows how this actually is determined will speak up? Please..
Your assumption is correct. Haste items have a set amount of haste. The actual numbers have been figured out by parsing combat logs. Nowadays you can just look at the item at magelo.
I was reading not to long ago that 20 stamina (as used in character creation which I imagine holds true throughout the game as well) at level 60 yields 80hp. That being said (currently level 34) 20 additional stamina will probably give me about 40 hits points or so (if what I read was correct). This item doesnt have stamina as a stat but it does have 20 hitpoints which would be about the equivalent of 40 stamina for my level. Any truth to that? If so it makes the item just that much more attractive in my mind. I'm wearing a Spider Fur belt right now but will be attempting to get this belt in the next few days.
Stamina gives different HP values to different classes (tank, caster and such). Check www.magelo.com, and play wiothj a few classes to see what values you get.
I got one of these last night... i was able to run in and avoid aggroing any of the grimling... they have small aggro radius and plenty of room since cave was designed for the larger owlbear.
I dont think it will be a problem if the grimling are green to you, to stand near where he spawns, attack him and fight him there. If he runs... just wait on him to come back.
I did not have a haste item on soop, and did not want to loose the ac on cobalt gaunts for schw. This has nice stats with added haste. is not shabby at all i dont think.
It was the first drop off the guy after killing 2 placeholders.
Well i am campng the greenies to make some pp off the items at 52 i am soloing all the mobs with little problem. for me thos i killed him 3 times he drop the belt 3 times.
WOOT! my turn to rant now. I find myself soloing more and more at higher levels, which is odd, considering it should be the reverse :P. Anyway, I can do pretty well with most of my stuff, but many times I have died without a rez, and it really starts to suck. I figured I needed a haste item to stack with my 20% i get from my song, and went to guk. I could solo the bedroom no problem, but any farther and i was toast. So I did the sensible thing, and started begging my friends to help me kill frenzy. I saw this item on the list, and since I was using a 10 ac belt with no other stats, I figured it was worth a try. Most of the mobs conned green, a few lightblue, which means they all aggro if I stay put around them for about 3 seconds, or if I continuously run by them (like I found out - see below). Had no problem meleeing the casters, and after a single charm, most mobs were sufficiently hurt that I could finish them without serious damage. Finally got him to pop after 3 PH. Spawn is exactly as stated earlier- about 3020, 2002. After I got in to the spot, no mobs wandered close enough to aggro, so I could easily heal in the down time. Started kiting him, as he was blue. Bad idea- got my **** kicked once the manacrafters started aggroing. Ok try 2- this time when he popped, I pulled with chant of disease, then started running as if I was going to kite, but charmed a manacrafter before he aggroed. Continued kiting til he died, and kept going until all but 1 manacrafter and about 4 guards were alone with him and I (still running in a circle in that small cave). He was down to half a bubble, and I to 2 1/2, so I tryed to finish him by kiting. Managed to kill him, but the manacrafter instilled me before I could charm him. :P Dead again. With time against me, I still managed to run from plane of knowledge back in time to loot my belt (dropped first time). Having only memmed speed song, I hauled ***** dragging my corpse, before more than 2 could aggro me, only pausing to get my drum. Now I have 11% more haste, and I'll try getting to the assassin in guk again : ) (already got the mask, really going for the bag)
After camping this guy for a few days, finally got this belt. The headpiece isn't bad for a BST or maybe a Pally either. Anyway, he seems to drop about 5 caps for each belt from others that I've spoken too. I think for the amount of work and the level that you can actually get this, it's much better than the FBSS, though you can't sell it, come on, the Frenzy camp is for like level 60 guys, this item rocks. Get a level 35+ group or another person level 45 or so to help you, if you're like my BST level 36. The mobs are light blue, but adds suck. Also you'll get a few Acrylia blocks that are dropped. I stopped picking up the runes, they sell for a few cp to a couple silver and it gets hard to carry them.
Only question I have is, I read it's 21% haste, but was just trying to verify if anyone knows how you can check this.
It says you have to be lvl 40 to obtain. Is this like the recommended lvl you should be to solo this guy, or is it the lvl you have to be for him to drop the belt. I need to know.
In prior discussions, this was the average level of group members to attain the item. However, the other night I got one, and there was a 53 necro, 37 druid and 35 beastlord holding one part of the cave (where owlbears usually are, but was inhabited by grimlings at the time.)
But, heck, the mob is only around lvl 34. Could have probably solo'd him as the 37 druid. However, there are about 3-4 other grimlings in close proximity. We held that area of the cave pretty easily.
Never thought my druid would have a haste item, but that and a Shaded Staff (10/22?) make it pretty fun to take out the final half bubble of a HG in Rathe...
These go for about 1k on Firiona Vie, and FBSS is typically 3k, I'd take this over FBSS, considering I'm a Ranger, and need the AC, and the STR+4 isn't exactly crap either.
Then...I wait...for SCHW...which the price on has been steadily dropping lately on FV, down to about 2.5k now.
The Firiona Vie server is a roleplaying preferred server. To motivate players to take advantage of the roleplaying atmosphere, the following feature list was implemented.
This is a PvE (Player vs. Environment) server, NOT a PvP (Player vs. Player) server. In other words, it's a standard "blue" server with the same rules and features regarding PvP as the vast majority of our servers. it is not one of the "Zeks".
Beneficial buff spells will not work on characters 20 levels lower than the caster.
The Common language will not exist. A Human language will be added and only made easily available to certain races.
Only one character can be created on each account.
The Trivial Loot Code will be in effect in all zones.
Very few items will be No-Drop. Exceptions will include things such as newbie notes and epic weapons.
Bind Affinity will be restricted for all characters to locations where melee characters can bind on other servers.
All sorts of stuff that is NO DROP on other servers, is sellable on FV, we have this nasty little thing called the Trivial Loot Code though, if it's green to you, or anyone in your party, you dont get any magic, or LORE drops.
I have been in HM for the past 2 days, grimlings have only been in the OB caves for one day on Bristlebane Server. Was wondering if anyone else was having a problem with the extremely fast repop times on the mobs in th cave. I was timing and the mobs would repop about every 45 sec. Which makes this an extremely hard camp if you only have 2 tanks and a healer. Got this belt and gave my FBSS.
Vvulfgur Shadowens lvl 36 Rogue<The Imperium Knights> Bristlebane Server
I gave up an FBSS for this belt on the Rathe server for my beastlord. 10%less haste vs 10ac for a 51 bst makes for a nice upgrade plus the str and hp's.
Gleeknot Gnitrat spawns in the Owlbear caves in Skrietat'Cha's normal location during the times when the Grimlings hold the Owlbear caves. He seems to be a melee type who does not cast, but may have a damage shield cast on him by one of the nearby Grimling Manacrafters who are wizards.
I only fought him once, but he seemed to be a little tougher to beat than Skrietat'Cha for my paladin. He dropped the Belt of the Grimling Skullcracker.
People tell me a FBSS is still better, but you know what? This one is free. Frenzy is a biznatch to camp, and a belt runs 4k in EC on MT server...but this is free as the air we breathe and it has nice stats. =) IMHO it is better, for it has AC, which is a happy thing for a warrior that doesn't have uber hp. (STA is 160 at 44, almost at 2k hp) My guild and I held this camp for about 8 hours last weekend, and everyone got a belt and the hat thingy, since no one else in zone wanted the hats and they were rotting. The haste component on it is decent, and it makes soloing go faster and tanking faster when in groups without shammies or chanters. =)
Good hunting everyone, and if you get to the cave and it is not occupied by grimlings, keep the defenders (owlbear or sonic wolf) outside dead until the grimlings try to invade. Then you'll be good to go =)

OK, this versus a FBSS ... 21% haste on the FBSS versus 11% on this belt, but this belt has 10 AC, 4 STR, and those HP .. close call. I'd probably lean FBSS, but not by a lot.
I had the great good fortune to have two belts drop within half an hour (one for my monk, one for my warrior). My guildies went back after I left, and spent three hours there, but the belt didn't drop again.
One question .. one of my guildies said this was not a good item for monks because of the high weight. I would have thought the 10AC would offset any AC loss from the extra weight, but maybe I'm crazy. Do any experienced monks have any thoughts about whether they would use this, if they didn't have another haste item?
This belt is more useful for non-dual wielding classes like paladin and shadow knight IMO. But for dual-wielders this is a great belt until you can either buy or loot an FBSS or SotDB.
