51 paladin, 50 SK, 51 mage and 44 druid took him down. He is pretty mean, but not that bad, Probably could have done it with less. I highly suggest snare and fear.
This guy is way under conned. I killed him with my 51 pally. The fight lasted maybe 5 min and he didn't heal like others have said. This was the easiest part of the whole quest IMHO.
Undercon means he cons under his actual difficulty. For example, the guards in Paineel in the newbie area, the skeleton ones near the door, they are level 10ish but double for 350.
This guy is an overcon. He cons as a 48 but his difficulty is under that.
Edit: This guy does heal, can be 50, and takes a bit to down. Doesn't do much damage though. Be smart with stuns or chanter stun lock him.
Confirmed today thurs, Aug 2, 2007. 46 supertwink pally: magnetic bp, helm, legs, armguards of repentance, boots of slaughter, silver chitin handwraps (22% haste), centaur plate wrist guard and deepwater bracer (never clicked it during the fight), earrings: fiercely hooked claw, tear of the rainmaker, dragon touched mask, neck/back/shoulders: di`zok warrior emblem, nestor's cloak, bloody mantle of agony, benevolent girdle, rings: dragorn commoner's ring and terror chain ring, range slot was ceramic totem of the rathe (req L46, imp heal 4), pri/sec: blade of disruption and brilliant shield of integrity.
Revenant hit 160 max double attacks at regular/slow speed and missed often. Did not hit max too often. Ran at low health. Red to me at 46, spook the dead worked VS him, when he ran away spooked i used that time to chain greater heal myself. Bottom to top, spell lineup was, greater healing, ethereal cleansing (never used during), root, spook the dead, flash of light, stun, holy might, dismiss undead. Hardly used root, flash, dismiss. Save mana for fear and heals. Make sure valor (or potion or enc/sham haste) and diving purpose are up and get MAX buffed for L46, that means ALL L60 buffs. Virtue, brells mountainous barrier, focus of soul, KEI, dodge, sp haste, melee guard, shammy stats. Dmg shield potion is a must! (Use your lay hands (1800ish) when you are near oom) Edit again: the spell: instrument of nife was the fricking BOMB too!
I finished the fight with 60% hp and 10% mana. (buffed stat totals were 5213hp/3148mana, 1106AC, 1025atk) Edit: It was a lot of fun, good challenge for an eq pro; but with everything mentioned here should be pretty easy.
Ideas for more of an advantage, heal potions (used one once, HOT potions are better than dd heal pots since they heal more total), corrupted sunshard undead clicky slow quest (like 10% slow vs undead i hear), regen potion or spell, Ghoulbane did not work so well, its sort of low damage and kind of slow too. Resist buffs and stat foods would help also. That ubertwink RCOD shield would have been nice too, the one with 10atk and 2 regen and 45ac 110hp/mana and what not. I forget the name. edit: it just came to me, Brightstar Buckler.
Took it down with my 54 Pally with V and KEI. It heals a lot so I recommend having at least a couple of stuns memmed (I had only one so it was a long fight of attrition until it went oom).
killed him about a week ago. he wasnt that hard but i took a couple friends of mine. Punkiinx (65 pally), Mulidenx (54 druid), and myself (55 pally). he died in like 1 min. thanks for the help guys.
It was a pain getting all the parts for this quest. So i brought my gf 46 war along for the ride "extra backup" He healed him self once and it was all over. I am a 52 pally fully buffed with 7 virtue and kei full health and all. "she also had a virtue" We got this guy to about 30% after he healed himself once. And gf died at this point. I was oom and he killed me with 10% left. He procs a ton and has alot of hp! Came back with her a 56 ranger and a 60 wiz it was all over with nukes. Got my spell and was a happy camper.
This was interesting. I figured no prob being that I am 63 atm...but he cons DB to you procs that spell on you a lot and while it wasnt going to be a problem. Was a tad harder to solo then I thought.
I find fearing it works well. Dont bother trying to root. When it is feared, it will not heal itself. My spook undead lands about half the time. If it doesn't land, stun and try to spook again.
I am not sure about this, but I think Simon will heal it. So pull it away from Simon.
Did this today with 47 Paladin and 54 Druid. Casted Ensnare, Winged Death, Breath of Ro, then ran away while pally chased him hitting him from behind with Instrument of Nife buff on. Refreshed DOT's when they ran out. Took a few minutes. The Tortured Revenant did do some small healing and cast flame of light (125 nuke) and hits for a max of 137. Dropped Revenant Ash and Part of Keris' Dissertation Pg.7
I got a 53 necro, 60 chanter and 65 to accompany me, 54 paladin. It was cake. I think it shows this is an old quest because I'm sure I could have soloed him =)
First pally mob I can remember fighting. When I pulled him, he yaulped first and then ran, was kind of cool =)
I kept him stunned the entire fight, he went down FAST, mabye 15 seconds. If you are post 50, just get a healer class and you should be laughing.
A pally from our guild needed this spell, we went to get him. Group was 53 pally (him) 51 Ranger and me, 52 bard with a griffin as pet. Took about 3minutes to kill. Da key is to keep stuning him, preventing him to heal himself.
OK, so maybe I was wrong. This guy was pretty easy. We had a 48 pally (me), a 46 cleric, 40 enchanter and a 51 shaman. The cleric chain stunned and superior healed me twice. The fight did not last long. It was kind of anti-clamactic after swimming through Kedge Keep. Perhaps without the stuns it would have been tougher.
I took the Tortured Rev down just a minute ago (8/21/03) with myself tanking (59), a 59 Cleric for heals and nukes, and a 58 Shaman for slows. The fight took less than 5 minutes, and my health never dipped below 4 bubbles. This guy was incredibly easy - none of us are uber so don't pay heed to the posts that claim he is really hard to do.
I think maybe the posts claiming he is hard mean that he is difficult to take for people of the appropriate level. It is a lvl 49 quest for a lvl 49 spell against a lvl 49 mob.
With 2 lvl 59's and a 58, I expect it would be incredibly easy.
I expect to finish it this weekend, and with my group of 40 somethings I bet this mob will be a challenge.
Owned this poor SOB in a min was thinking bout trying Simon but after i used my disc on him and put 12k damage on him and barely had him under 95percent i decided to zone
After turning in the ashes and getting the spell, the Tortured Revenant respawned right where he had spawned before! He didn't attack, so I worked up my nerve, and tried to solo him (my party had left after an easy kill--- me, 62 shammy and 52 wizzy). After a few minutes of futile battle and using my LoH, I tucked my pride between my legs and and ran for the Kithicor zone. I healed myself up (I was down to 35% health, while A Tortured Revenant was still at 80%) and zoned back in, expecting the Tortured Revenant to have despawned.... he hadn't. I gave up and ran to East Commons, then decided to double back and try again, realizing that the spell was NOT no-drop, and was no doubt worth a FORTUNE if I could get it. I zoned back in, and again to my surprise, he was STILL up!!! I ran back over, and a curious 48 ranger was making a stab at him. He was giving up after a minute and running for the zone when I sent him a tell, asking him to snare the Tortured Revenant, and I'd beat on his back while the ranger medded up to continue. We worked out a deal for the loot, and the battle commenced. It took about 10 minutes (with a 51 pally and a 48 ranger only), but we killed him, and Simon gave me a SECOND copy of the spell!!! My guess is that this was a game bug, but what do I know??? I'm now selling it on Morrell-Thule for 4k. Send a tell if you're interested!
Do you guys think a lvl 62 paladin could solo the last mob that spawns? with my new undead proc and celestial heal (its 700hps healover time casts in 1.5secs 30sec recast time) if i would have enough DPS to keep this guy down i realize magic resistance is nutz so shouldnt waste mana trying to stun or root but would just standing and giving it to him be enough ? Heres my equip if that makes any diff would love some opinions : http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=397867
Man i was getting bored and decided i could do ths quest again if i failed since i already had the spell and was just doing it for a friend with my 62 paladin and i tells ya that last mob aint even have a right to be named! hehe golems and mobs in fear are more dangerous at = lvl i raped him with self buffs and Kei i never went below 80percent hps and mana! so that answers that!

Had no problems with a 50 Paladin and a 57 Shaman with pet for support. Shaman had Turgurs resisted once, but once it landed the fight was a piece of cake. Landed Malosini but still failed to stick Bane of Nife on two attempts. Also, make sure you pull the revenant away from Simon if you have characters helping you that are KOS to him - this is a fight that you can't afford to lose or you'll have to start the whole quest over again.
Do you think a 65 warrior with good gear(over 6k hp unbuffed) can be able to solo? Or at least with a 41 paladin as healer. How hard does this skelly hit and how much HP does it have?
52er sk, 60er wiz, 51 paladin (me) and a 52 dr00d (also played by me) took him out today. was not TOO tough that boy, though i had problems to keep aggro and the skelly jumped onto the wiz once. however, was a short fight :)

You shouldn't let an undead defeat you hehe Next time just /ooc *paladin needs a little help with a quest* and people will help you. That's what I did, it was me L50 pally and L57 druid. We got 4 people to help us, I am not one of those *I must have it today people*, lucky me ;)
